I'm curious. What's your favorite dramatic Steve, Kayla, or Steve/Kayla moment from the past couple of years? Even though the stories haven't always flowed, they've had a ton of memorable, wonderful scenes.
I think I might have to go with Kayla finding an unconscious Steve after the plane crash, and pleading with him to wake up because she knew she was pregnant and didn't want to go through that alone again... Talk about heart-wrenching!

That's a great scene, lska! Off the top of my head, I'm going to go with the group of scenes in the hotel (early 2007) when Steve says he can't live without Kayla then leaves her after trying to strangle her. Kayla's reaction to this was so heartbreaking.

The plane crash scene was a really great one. You could feel Kayla's fear and pain at the thought of losing him again.
The whole set of scenes surrounding Steve's leaving during the BSC!Steve storyline were also really well done. From the conversation in the living room when Steve can't sleep to the moment he walks out the door.
But, my favorite (in the rip your heart out and stomp on it several times kind of way) might just be the scene in the cabin after Steve has escaped from the mental hospital and Kayla and Marlena track him down. The way he tried to convince Kayla that he wanted them to be together and to let him go and the way she was so conflicted -- wanting to believe him, but knowing deep down she couldn't. And that kiss -- so painful. Then the end when she walks out you can here her sob just as she gets out the door, but the camera stays on Steve and we can see he knows just how much he hurt her. It's heartwrenching in every way.

My favourite dramatic Steve/Kayla scene from the last few years would have to be the scene in the hotel where Steve tries to strangle Kayla. Right from the start before they go to sleep, you can just see its gonna be a beautiful/horrible train wreck. Kayla goes thru the whole gammut of emotions untill at the end she is left all alone in the room absolutely gutted.

i'm going to have to go with when kayla saw steve for the first time. i mean can you imagine what it would be like to see your husband after 16 years of thinking he was dead. i would do more than faint.
that played that perfect well they play all there scenes perfectly.

I think I am with ESP on this one. The cabin scene where Marlena and Kayla catch up to him when he was still under Dimera's control were just heart wrenching. I think it was the first time that we really say how much hurting Kayla, hurt Steve. It may have been only that moment, but it was enough for me to see that the 'real' steve was in there.
Another favorite of mine was in Tinda Lau, when Kayla catches up to Steve when he has the knife against Bo's throat. She gets through to him by reciting their wedding vows. It was amazing acting from both of them. I loved that.

My favorite has been mentioned already by many of you. The scene in the living room of the hotel room after Steve strangled Kayla in the bed and she was pleading him not to leave. Dramatic, heart-wrenching, amazingly played by Mary Beth and Stephen.

"I wish you never came back"
I still cry when I watch that
For Kayla to have said that even if she may not have truly meant it, was a soul crusher!

There are a few for me.
Steve - with Adrienne in the mental hospital. Stephen nailed those scenes nine ways from Sunday.
Kayla - gaaah. This one is so hard. Mary Beth is so fabulous in all her scenes. The hotel tackle and Steve leaving still leaves me in tears. Joe's birth is another one.
Both - The betrayal kiss in the cabin.

After rewatching the hotel tackle, I am torn. I think the betrayal and the hotel tackle are my two votes. They were both so awesome in both those scenes. To portray the angst and yet undying love they had for each other. Bravo for pulling it off.

The meatiest dramatic one for me was the Hotel strangulation one ,that was a tour de force acting performance by both.
Steve telling Kayla he remembered Stephanie ,Steve remembering who he was and trying to convince Kayla of that was probably my favorite moment of their return , she finally gave in and believed him after he signed courage to her that was so beautifully done!!
Steve's Tinda Lau performances showed a wide range of emotions.Steve & Adrienne in the pizza parlour was heartbreaking.Steve when he found out Stephanie was raped was touching.Steve telling Kayla his life would be nothing without her and his family after the fallout was so moving.Too many good ones to just name one Stephen Nichols kicksbutt!!!
Kayla when she saw Steve for the first time.at the graveside. Kayla when she left Steve in Cinci,The hotel strangulation scenes.Kayla &Steve at the cabin. Kayla telling Jeremy&Stephanie off.,Kayla &Stephano at the police station that was an awesome performance.Kayla delievering baby Joe was a devastating scene,Kayla &Steve the fallout scenes ,she was truly heartbroken that made me cry.Mary Beth has too many good ones to count only one, shes as real as it gets !!
I cant wait to see what these two bring us in the future!!!!

I have a few that were my favorite. When Steve and Kayla were fighting in the hotel room and she is on top of him saying she wished he had never come back. That was just MBE at her finest. My second one is when they were on the island and he held the knife to her. When she started reciting for better or worse, etc. and when he realized who she was and he fell to his knees and was saying he was sorry. Those both were great scenes to me and so dramatic.

That's a great one, the tackle scene. The only thing that I wish is that they'd kept the "I wish you had never come back" line in their back pocket for just a little bit longer -- they'd only been reunited for a few months at that point, and I would have loved for Kayla to get to say that a little further down the road. But the whole thing was so affecting.

Those scenes were so perfect. I loved how Kayla went from fainting to almost jumping him at the end of the next episode, lol.

That was a wonderful scene. I loved the subtleness of Stephen Nichols' performance in the few days leading up to it, too. He played Steve with a smarmy, out of character edge that the viewers could detect, but that Bo and the others on the island couldn't pick up on. Some of the best acting on this show in ages!
I also loved the drama in the deprogramming scenes on Tinda Lau, and how fiercely Kayla was fighting for Steve there.

Oh, great choice! They got the history so right in those scenes, which is such a gift to the longtime fans. You reminded me, I might have to stick Steve's good-bye to Adrienne on my list. I'm not sure if it's dramatic exactly, but the emotions were so real and true to life.

It's hard to say, seeing how I agree with every scene posted so far. But if I had to choose (thank goodness I don't), I would say the "I wish you had never come back" scene in the hotel room.
SN and MBE blew that out of the park.

My favorite dramatic scene since they have been back is the plane crash scenes. They were both so worried about the other and trying to hide their own ailments. Very true to their characters and wonderfully acted.

My dramatic scene has to be when Kayla found Steve in bed with Ava. The pain that was in Kayla's voice it almost stopped my heart. I really felt the pain she was going through having to witness that.

You know, I loved that whole Cincy thing too (not Della), but Kayla leaving... calling her mom... Steve realizing that no matter what, he wasn't going to be able to let her go... Kayla weeping when she looked back in... and then him running after her, but it was too late. And finally, the payoff when he came back to the pub.
Sigh...

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread. There are obviously scenes I haven't caught up on yet. I just found the hotel room sequence and, yeah, the powerful emotions and phenomenal acting makes it so heart wrenching yet compelling to watch.
For me the birthing and hospital bedside scenes were great drama. Steve was so supportive of Kayla, MBE's incredible acting during and after the birth, and the love/tenderness and yet hesitation about where their relationship stood was so real and dramatic. Couple that with the fallout scene, and it felt like being in the middle of a real couple's crisis. Fun, no; dramatic, yes. Now I'm ready for some romance/passion/adventure fun with our dynamic duo.
