Ok,so I have been on this board for awhile has ''Hartleyfan'' and I come on here and I am somehow suddenly under a different user name,how did that happen,little confused.

Are these original screen names you guys signed up with? in other words, the current screen names you have been using prior to this happening were not your original screen names?

Yep! I believe I had 24 in the beginning but i changed it to just SavvyGrl but Im fine with this

I don't really remember but I am fine with what my screen name is now. The people that I post with know this is my name already.

You're right Ana! I didn't even notice the change in your screen name for a couple hours and its basically the same as your last one!

O, crap!! My screen name has also changed and I don't like it. I don't like my full name being displayed here. However, my screenname has always been DaysFan82 since the day I signed up and started posting!!!

Wow, I hate it when all the screen names change. Makes it so confusing for us fellow posters.

That sucks,what is with this board?I tried changing it back, but it didn't work,I mean I don't mind it,but I prefer my other one.

I unbderstand, and if it wasn't my REAL name, I wouldn't mind,since most peopel know me by SHannon anyways, but my lsat name, that just draws the line for me. This is total bull**** that should be taken care of very quickly.

The bad thing is, this isn't the first time this crap has happened.

This is a HORRIBLE board glitch. I complain because this board loads to slow and people often can't log in at all, but this is serious! I hope it's taken care of immediately because this is enough to make people stop posting here altogether.

For those who need to change back try this:

In your control panel click on Edit Profile Information

That will open up your Account Settings

Scroll down to the bottom of that page, at the bottom you will see the following options

a ) Keep Your Username (and it shows what your current name is) or
b ) Choose a New Username, you will have to enter the new user name in two boxes and then click on Update Username.

And your new name should then be good to go and I think when people go into your profile they are given the option of seeing what your old name was but I am not sure if that feature is working correctly. But either way that is how you change your username.

It has worked for some but not for others. If it doesn't work for you let me know and I can add you to the list I have sent to one of the root admins to see if she can fix it for you.

^^^^I tired that, however, when I click there, my username says it is DaysFan82. I'm confused and starting to get really mad.

I tried to change mine, but because it's the same name, just lower case letters where there should be upper case, I get told the name is already taken.

I've also tried logging out and back in several times, and it still didn't work.

Logout of the boards, clear cookies and cache from browser, relaunch browser window and try signing in again.

Make sure you do exactly what she said, if that doesn't work let me know.

ARRGGH I give up,I have tried everyway I was told and it still won't work.

This isn't the original name I signed up, originally when I signed up I signed up in the old system, with a username being the way you logged in and a screenname which were different. But I am going to try the method to see if it works

Just an FYI for anyone who still hasn't been able to get their regular user name back the Tech people are working on it. Hopefully they will figure out what happened and get it fixed asap.

*Small Update from one of the Admins*

Basically, this problem stemmed for a whole bunch of little problems, so it took a bit to figure out exactly what was causing the names to get changed and then figure out how to fix it.

The good news is, we've figured out the problem, how to attack it and lined up all the resources. (This feels much like preparing for a battle...a battle of broken code!) Our tech team is working on executing the fixes as we speak (as in right this minute!). I don't have an ETA because I don't want to tell you a time and then have something go horribly wrong.
