I tried following the directions on the FAQ page as follows.
To uninstall the Player, follow these steps:
* Click on the Start button
* Open Settings > Control Panel
* Launch Add or Remove programs
* Select "NBC Direct Beta" and click "Remove"
* Select "OpenCASE Media Agent" and click "Remove"
But when selecting NBC Direct Beta and Opencase Media Agent neither one has the Remove button to uninstall the programs. Any ideas why this is or know another way to uninstall the programs?

My player won't download any episodes. They just sit there and the status bar is continually empty. I have tried pausing/resuming many times, cancelling and trying again, and uninstalling the player and reinstalling it. Nothing works. It worked a few weeks ago and downloaded the season premiere of The Office, but I haven't gotten it to download last weeks or this weeks episode. I am at a loss of what to try next.

Yesterday I downloaded the NBC Direct application on my HTPC. As it was installing it asked me to check my email to activate the link. I checked my email and activated my account by clicking the link. I came back and relaunched NBC Direct and clicked on the "Register" button. I got a message saying, I need to activate my account by clicking the link. SO I AGAIN clicked on the email I received to activate my account but I am still not able to register. It also had a "Resend" option to get another email with reactivation link. I clicked it several times but I am yet to get a new mail with activation link.
Any idea what is going on?

I have the same problem. I just downloaded Direct today and it is just sitting there with the empty status bar. I've tried everything you guys mentioned as well and I don't know the deal is. I've emailed for help twice, but nothing.
I'm still making my way into the 21st century, so I've never tried downloading episodes of anything online before. Usually, my DVR records for me, but it went haywire yesterday, so I've missed all my Monday shows.
Any help or suggestions from anyone would be very much appreciated.

I too am having a similar issue with the NBC Direct Player (using Beta version 1.2).
Although, my videos appear to have finished downloading, except the status just stays at "Updating..." and when I mouse over the video item in the list, the play button is greyed out but I get an 'X' button to delete the video and an exclamation point '!' button that says 'Error Details', when I click that it says "Your selected program is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." I've had this happen with the same show and other shows I've attempted to download over the past week and a half, but it keeps giving me the same error. So apparently, trying again later isn't working.
I'm also amazed that no one from NBC or the people who work on the NBC Direct Player have responded to this thread yet. I understand that the player is still in Beta, but it'd be nice to get some sort of explanation for what's going on here.

This is really silly. I have been trying to download the same episode of Chuck almost continuously for four days without a pixel in the progress bar. I've had major problems previously, but did manage to download one or two episodes after trying for a couple of days. This time, I will settle for the streaming SD, I guess. This is really annoying and, obviously, NBC has little interest. First of all, since the other three major networks provide easily acessible streaming HD episodes right on the sites, it's annoying that NBC requires you to install and register an additional program and go to the trouble of downloading (even if it worked). I realize that this is all free and NBC has no obligation to provide any of these services at all. But since they obviously seem to feel it is in their benefit to do so, you would think they would respond (or, better yet, fix) their service and avoid the loss of good will from this frustrating experience.

I go here and there is no information on how to fix this problem. any help available?

I just installed NBC Direct Beta last night and all it has done is cause problems. It's slowing down my computer and my computer keeps freezing. But here is the best part, it won't let me uninstall it! I try to uninstall the player and it just freezes while saying "Preparing to Remove" and my whole computer freezes. What gives!?!

Hi, I'm trying NBC direct for the first time to download HD episodes. The downloads start and finish fine BUT at the end it keeps saying "Updating..." (with an error informing that the selected episode isn't available). I tried every episode and show (SD and HD) from the oldest to the newest ones. Why is that? I read I'm not the only one so why isn't NBC solving this problem? Like this NBC service is useless!
Thanks!

I downloaded NBC Direct Beta and it has screwed up my computer. Ever since I installed it my computer has been freezing. When I try to uninstall NBC Direct Beta or that OpenCase thing that installs with it my computer freezes...When I try to repair the program I get a fatal error. I have filled out that technical support thing multiple times and I am getting no help or response at all. If you say Technical Support that means you support the customer in need. Well I am getting no support at all. NBC Direct Beta has screwed up my computer and I am getting no help at all to get rid of this terrible thing.

I have the same problem- got the player installed and an entire Office episode downloaded (and where's the newest post-Superbowl one?), but when I click play, nothing happens. It says "playing" in the video player side, but I don't see anything.
This NBC Direct Video player is really a POS application. All that hassle to install a P2P server, special player, and wait for a download, and nothing happened. Uninstalling it now. Eventually what you want will be on a torrent site somewhere!
Maybe in a few months NBC will get this right. With this mess, and the choppy speed of Hulu (even though I've got a high speed cable connection), it makes me wonder if TV is worth the bother anymore.

This has been my experience also. I tried the uninstalling and reinstalling, making sure everything else was set up for downloading episodes. However, it only got as far as the opening launch sequence before stalling. Truly hope there will be a fix for this, as it has been
quite frustrating and disappointing for the time spent trying to get it to work.

I am having the same problem on one of my computers, the peacock is in the center of the screen and just flashes, meanwhile on the bottom of IE7 it says Done (Intel P4HT Chipset). When trying with the same computer on Firefox it does the same thing except it just says downloading in the bottom corner and even after 20 minutes does not change. I have also tried resetting the browser, updating Flash, turning off the firewall and uninstalling/re-installing the program. On my other computer (Older AMD XP Chipset) everything works and loads fine. Both computers are running XP Professional and going through a Linksys Router on a 12/6 mbps cable connection.
I really hope there is a solution for this.

So I did a little playing around last night and the computer that was not working was hooked up wirelessly and the computer that was I had directly connected to my router. I moved my router to where the other computer was and hooked it up directly and it is now working and the other computer that I changed to wireless does not. I am not sure if they are some how blocking wireless connectivity or what. I also subscribe to Netflix and when I was watching a movie on the computer that I had hooked up wireless it would not buffer properly and the connection slowed screen would pop up and I would have to refresh it and it comes right back up. Now that it is directly connected there are no issues, I was able to watch a movie over 2 hours long with out any "connection slowed" screens.

I hope this helps.

Having the same problem no status indicatorsor progress bars, just a peacock.
My Internet connection is downloading full on, but I have no idea what is downloading or how to watch it.
Uninstalling now. Too much content and too many players work flawlessly to fool around with one that does not. Cruel world, but multimedia sites get only one chance these days. Just like that old statistic on slow sites where if nothing loaded the visitor was gone in 8 seconds.

Having the same problem no status indicatorsor progress bars, just a peacock.
The main culprit here is "
The Pando Media Booster" a "tiny (2MB) UI-less client" This thing remains behind and continues to download after uninstalling NBCDirect.
This is real amateur software for losers. Wish I had read this thread before installing.
Save yourself the headache of invasive, disingenuous bugware. Stay away from NBCDirect. Rebuild frome bare metal. I can't trust this cruft to not leave badware behind.

I installed this yesterday and had the same problems noted by every poster above. In addition, I found that attempts to view SD video from the NBC site (which had worked with the previous version of NBC Direct installed) also resulted in the same eternal peacock but no video. I uninstalled NBC Direct, and the Pando Media Booster, and the SD video now works. Given that the other three major networks' websites provide easily accessed streaming HD episodes, this is pretty annoying. I recognize that NBC is under no obligation to provide free HD episodes on the web, but pretending to offer such a service when it is obviously broken, and appearing to have no interest in making it work or even acknowledging the problem, is extremely frustrating to users and generates far more ill will than simply not offering the service at all.

the worst thing is, once you guys do get it to work, and get a dl started, if u get past 10% it'll be a miracle that AND their HD service keeps getting updates so u'll have to update and reinstall a whole bunch of times. They should just put out a patcher. To add to that, even if by some miracle your dl finishes, and u go to try and play the episode u just downloaded it might not even play. that happened to me with the heroes last week.

Lots of people know that NBC direct's EULA states that it will delete the NBC content you download when your time limit expires, which is all well and good. Those are the terms of the service.
What many people don't know is that NBC direct will also permanently delete any and all files contained in its 'associated folders' upon uninstallation. This took me a long time to figure out.. I found it buried in an FAQ. I thought my files had disappeared from a virus.. I didn't want to believe that what I thought to be a legitimate program had deleted them.
The best part? I didn't even uninstall NBC direct. I simply upgraded to their new 'web based version'... but apparently an uninstall is part of that upgrade, and now, since I chose to have NBC direct download its files to my desktop for easy access (dumb decision, it turns out)... everything on my desktop, in folders on my desktop... everything is gone. I noticed another post here on the forum complaining about the computer freezing every time they tried to uninstall. Guess they made another bad choice in associating their folders.
The simple fact that NBC direct is programmed in a way that it can touch.. let alone read, let alone delete any files that have nothing to do with it is appalling. The fact that the only clue this is possible is buried in an obscure FAQ online makes it even worse.
So NBC... what are you going to do to fix this?

Thanks for the info about Hulu.com. I would also recommend to everyone tvtorrents.com. They have episodes and full seasons of just about every show you could want. Plus they are all in HD and commercial free. The only requirement you need is to have a .torrent client such as azeures or bittorrent. I am currently uninstalling NBC Direct and won't be using it again. It is sad since it was a great program initially

I loaded NBC Direct and double clicked on the icon. The website opens with the peacock like everyone says. I can view episodes online but I have no way to download the episodes to watch later. That is why I installed NBC Direct to start with and I cannot find a way to save these episodes. Sometimes on the left of the video screen there will be a tab to "download video" but when I click on it the content in the tab is about downloading NBC Direct. Is there a date in the future we are waiting for to be able download content or something. Anyone know??

Well, when I loaded up the NBC Direct player, I was advised to please upgrade before playing downloaded content (or being able to download content). So I did (the new .exe, though stupidly named the same as the old, was larger, as I expected)...and when I relaunched the supposedly updated player...I was advised to upgrade!

I then rebooted my system and launched the app again...and was advised again to upgrade. So I did (just in case I needed to upgrade one component to upgrade the other or something stupid like that...and when I relaunched I was advised to upgrade!

Obviously there is some issue either with the new version or the software NBC itself is running since the upgrade is not being recognized, and thus the Direct software is currently useless. Guess I'll have to find some other way to watch my shows until Direct gets its act together...

Been like this since the WORKING Beta ended and the NON-FUNCTIONING actual release took place. Tired of installing and will just watch the non-HD off the normal site and uninstall Direct for the last time (Without reinstalling ever again). Now... if "tech support" decides to finally respond to this problem and get it working... I -=*MIGHT*=- change my mind. In my opinion.. go back to the BETA release which actually did what it was supposed to.
On a side note.. isn't BETA supposed to be where bugs are worked out to release a viable product instead of vice versa?

Seems I'm not the only one with this annoying problem. The old format worked much better; had to sit through the adds, but the videos would actually download and were watchable within an hour or so. Recently downloaded NBC Direct. Installed fine without a problem. Made sure Pando media booster was working. But I cannot get past the loading screen with NBC's logo. There is a full white bar below the NBC logo.
I have tried with both my desktop and laptop (Windows Vista 64 bit and Windows Vista 32 bit). Both are giving me the exact same problem.
I am using Internet explorer.
I have looked through the FAQs and attempted these suggestions:
1. Restart browser
2. Restart computer
3. Shut down and restart Pando Media Booster, and make sure that it is working
None of these suggestions have helped me.
Anyone have any clue?
