I love both of these! Another one that stood out to me:
Daniel to Kate, poolside 10/15/08- "pre-lounge chair love"- She asks him why he was so uneasy when she brought up the topic of her pending test results- his response: "You said you felt optimistic ..and I'm just being protective. I want you to have hope, but I also just want you to be prepared for whatever we find out."
I love that he was being protective of her. Kate is always having to look out for herself, so it was nice to hear him say that to her. The other part I liked was he didn't say, I want you to be prepared for whatever you find out, he used the word "we", which foreshadows the quote you shared above.
