A new reality series, executive produced by Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol") and Andrew Glassman ("Average Joe"), centers on a group of mothers who must help choose the perfect woman for their complacent sons.

Ultimately, the series poses the question: "Who is really the most important woman in every man's life?"

In "Momma's Boys," love is in the air but the story is told from a new television perspective – because first, the women will have to get by mom.

Drama ensues when numerous mothers and their eligible bachelor sons are housed together with several single women. As the tension mounts, viewers will watch as possessive mothers influence their son's search for the perfect mate.

Some of the possible brides are "nice girls," while others might not be as presentable. As expected, rivalries are formed, drama mounts and emotion builds as crucial choices must be made.

Saw two promo clips last night between 8 and 10 PM PST. Both of them left a bad taste in my mouth. Nothing that I would waste my time watching. My wife and I have been fortunate to have raised three wonderful children (two boys and a girl) and have seen them marry and begin to raise their own families. And it was all done without the kind of tasteless drivel that you are preparing to show in "Momma's Boys". Jerry Springer showed everyone how to appeal to the lowest level of taste and apparently made a lot of money doing it. So now everyone else, including NBC is doing the same thing in quest of the almighty dollar. Show the right kind of crap and there are thousands of dull low lifes out there who will pay to see it.

NBC was very clever to dovetail this onto the finale of "The Biggest Loser" in order to grab that audience. Kinda ironic though since it implies that it may not get an audience if it aired at another time. Regardless, the ploy won't work on me--if L&O: SVU ain't on, I ain't watchin' NBC. Besides, I'm not about to support Ryan "Tool" Seacrest in his latest venture.

Is that Jason Biggs with his mother Esther???
wawa67
Ha Ha, yeah, that kid looks a lot like Jason Biggs, the one from the American Pies, right? Maybe its his brother or something. Either way, definetly a good call.
realmommasboy
Wait Wawa67, is it Jason Biggs brother?? Is that why he got the part. Also does he mother own a tuxedo and suit store?

I'm glad this show is on TV because I think it will show mothers how important it is for them to let go of their son and encourage him to be an independent adult and eventually a loyal husband. Intrusive, controlling, self-centered in-laws can destroy a marriage if the husband and wife don't unite as a couple. It is possible to have a great marriage, even if the in-laws aren't so great. I hope "Momma's Boys" educates people on how to be great in-laws and loyal husbands!

Are you married to a Momma's boy? Does your husband frequently say "no" to you so he can say "yes" to his mom? Does he care more about making his mom happy than making you happy? If you disagree with his mom about something, does he think you are wrong, rude, and/or selfish? If so, then you probably dislike your mother-in-law, but she's not the main problem. The main problem is that your husband hasn't transferred his loyalty from her to you. If he has a dominant (controlling/self-centered/intrusive) mother who makes him feel guilty whenever he tries to make you a priority, then it will be extremely difficult for him to have the courage to do so. Don't worry, there is hope for your husband and your marriage! You can have a great marriage even if your in-laws aren't so great! There are things you can say and do to become the most important woman in your husband's life. You need patience, persistence, and a whole lot of love!

No I am not, thank goodness. My mother in law was a wonderful woman who certainly had a normal relationship with her son. I pity the woman who that much control over her son that he cant make a move without her approval.

I am a momma's boy, and I'm married. I love my mom, she is remarkable. She's also an incurable nitwit. I love my wife, too, and she has to put up with said nitwit. When either of them is wrong, or I should say, when I disagree with either, I say it.

My husband is not a mama's boy, though his mama is surely awesome. She's very open-minded and wise. Not at all controlling. She supports her children in their decisions and lets them learn from their own mistakes.

In contrast to Post #6 on this topic, I am very sorry this show is on TV. It does none of the positive things noted in the post. Instead, it promotes bigotry, sterotyping, and conflict, which may make for great ratings, but that is not what we need right now. Some of the cast are obviously attresses and not what they appear to be (see other posts), and we do not need to glorify bigotry and promote conflict among ethnic groups, especially now. Ms. B in particular seems to be an excellent actress, because people actually appear to take her biogted views seriously, whereas it seems obvious to me that she is being told to act bigoted (repeating her bigotry more than once, just in case you missed it lthe first time; look again at her video). If she actually has these terrible views, it is horrifying, but I strongly suspect she is an actor like Archie Bunker, but without the sense of humor. Like Archie Bunker, it is very likely that by the end of the show, she will have been scripted to see the error of her ways and accept whomever her son has chosen. Let's wait and see. Regardless, this is probably the silliest reality show I have ever seen. But beyond being silly, it promotes all the wrong core values. It should be cancelled.

I am not married, but I have two friends who are married to Momma's Boys. And needless to say, their marriage is always on the rocks. These guys are so much a Momma's boy that they talk to their mothers as though she is a "Marriage Counselor". Everything that goes on in their homes, both good and bad, and even in their marriage, their mothers know and this creates so much friction between the mothers and daughter-in-laws.

I believe mothers should distance themselves when their kids get married. Some topics are "off" limits and the son should set and enforce boundaries for their mothers as they relate to their wives and marriage.

Oh, I also have 2 friends who are Momma's GIRLS, and 3 friends who are Daddy's GIRLS. Now those situations are REALLY somehthing else, talk about difficult to date these ladies.

i know what you're saying! I've been searching for a good place to put my little comment but I cant find one because of all the nastiness!

Ok, so the matter at hand:
(I have copied and pasted this so many times tonite, my fingers are numb! lol)

Ok, so i know the girl u need to picK! LAUREN! I am from Newfoundland, Canada and I have been watching the show thinking "that girl looks familiar".....well, she is! I did the Accomplice: New York tour in October 2007 and saw little miss Lauren. She stayed around with the little group I was in and just hung out once the show was over.

She is absolutely wonderful and her humor is fantastic! her New yorker accent is frickin' hilarious when she puts it on thick for comedy. Please give her a shot! I am positive her style would quite attractive if you give her a chance! I'm thinking she has a wild side that you might be looking for - haha. Forget the blonds go for a brunette....but just not the meak ones your mom picks out! I'm a brunette and damn it, we're fun! lol

I got so excited thinking that she was the girl from Accomplice, that I even desperately emailed them to get the truth! ...yeah, should have looked at this site's cast list, but i was too excited!

everyday I think, oh what a small world it is smile.gif

I'm begging you, pic her
