I'm just happy she's gone. At first I was mad she didn't die, it would have lessened my anger at Adam's death, but then I thought to myself "thats kind of sick." So now I'm trying to convince myself I'm fine with her walking off into the sunset...

What the hell, I'll admit it, I wish she died.

Hmmm. Now that I think about it why the hell did they kill off the best character to come out of season 2, but let the worst character survive. Maybe stuff like this is why heroes is getting poor ratings.

Just came back to update this since Kristin posted something new on Maya this morning and saw your thread ...Kristin made a correction. She is not coming back to die. She's just gone. For good. And yes I'm pissed I didn't at least get one last moment of Heroes glee. Writers screwed me again. But whatever.

From Watch With Kristin today...

Maya's Out of Here: Looks like Maya's pilgrimage to the States wasn't a waste of time after all—it just didn't work out the way she planned. Arthur Petrelli took her power, and now he has the evil black bug eyes. I predict fewer tears from Arthur, but the question remains: Will he absorb the sudden Brooklyn accent this Dominican Republic native somehow magically developed in the past few episodes? (Sorry, but that plot flaw was getting on my last nerve!)

Oh, and sidenote: Sorry for leading you astray that Maya would be killed. I heard she would be "taken care of" in this episode, and, well, we all know what that usually means on this show, so my mind automatically made that leap. My apologies.

Dude, WHAT!?!

Adam died yet Maya freakin lives?!?!

Funny, I actually liked Maya.

She was basically a "pure" human being. She didn't want her power, and hated using it. Still when pushed she had devastating power. I like characters like that. Where having a power comes with a cost.

Maybe she dies on the way home because West gets sucked into the jet engine. n-n
But they're both sitting on the same bus now, so nobody's going to know what happens d:

... I liked her character, I just didn't like what the writers did with her character. So I'm glad she's gone, because they were just wasting a character with the possibility to do so many things. D:<
Charliekat
I actually had felt sympathetic for Maya (first time EVER) when she rejected Mohinder while she was about to walk out of Pinehurst. For some reason, as a normal person, I kind of liked her. She sucked when she was whining about her power. Now that's over with.. I thought she was decent.

Still glad she's out of the picture though.
TracyStrauss
Y'know, as long as she stays away, I'm good.
I just hope that doesn't mean bringing her back at ANY point.
Sylar1234
I just wanted the character gone either way.

She's actually a decent actress, at least, she was on The Sopranos.
Winchester1894
Im not necessarily mad she didnt die but its annoying when Niki,D.L,Ted,and Eden didnt just get to prance happily off into the sunset.
Orb_
I think she's coming back pregnant . But what a waste of her powers. They should have made a better storyline for her.

I'm thinking that too. It just seems like it'll help Mohinder better himself.
MrJoker
When she is not whining she can be a decent character. Now she just gone away... Which will help Mohinder attempt to redeem himself by ..... Working for the bad guys... That Mohinder will never learn , eh ?

The thing is i want Arthur to use Maya;s power atleast once...
Cowboy_Bebop
It's no big deal to me that Maya is not dead while Arthur is.
I, for one, did not think that Maya was such a horrible character, that the only way to atone her would be to kill her off.

I liked her when we had yet to find out what he true purpose was, which was later written out of the story because of the writers strike.

I do agree completely with your statement though. She was very compelling because she was not like Sylar and Peter and even Micah who are just like "woah, cool! I have a super power! Let's go discover all of the ways that I can get into trouble."
TracyStrauss
She's appearing in the next episode (3x08)?

A lot of gone/dead characters are, Adam too; it's mostly (or all, can't remember) flashback.

Why all the hate on the woman? What I don't get was about her brother did he have a power?

Eh, Idk about anyone else, but I found her annoying.

His power was the opposite of hers.he could negate the poison emission

That was NOT his power. Otherwise when Sylar was in the car with her after taking her brother's power he would not have been affected by hers; which he clearly was.

I don't think we EVER found out what his power was. They killed him off before he could show it.

When you think about it, Mya had one of the wickedest powers of them all and good of handled her own and taken down Arthur and the crew if she ONLY knew it. The only HEROES she couldn't have killed was Claire, Adam, Peter and then after taking Claire's power, Sylar. Everyone else would have been dusted by her.

What I want to know is how she and her brother got THEIR powers. Was it by injection or blood; either way based upon how HEROES has been playing out ~ someone in her family had to be connected in some way or fashion to the original HEROES. The same is true with West. While I didn't much care for Season 2 all of these unaddressed plot threads are a mess .. Where is Micah and his Aunt? I want Micah back!

Which would be fine, if Sylar had taken Alejandro's power. Which he didn't.

Mostly because he couldn't take the power at that time.

Maybe they meant Alejandro, which still would be wrong. As Alejandro's ability wasn't to block Maya's power all the time, that I can remember he had to have physical contact with her to negate her ability. Hence her telling him that she didn't need him anymore to stop her ability in S2 ep 10.

It was his power because when she first "cried" it was at his brothers wedding. He was the only one who wasn't affected, then he took her hands, and shecalmed down and the effect was revesed. that happens numerous times until Sylar helps her learn to do it herself.
msully72
I think it made sense for her character to survive, since Arthur had no reason to kill her (he needed to gain Mohinder's cooperation). She could be something he holds over Mohinder in the future though - "pretty girl huh? would be a shame if anything happened to her . . ."

Killing off every character who was no longer useful to the show would get old fast.
Feral
Maya is getting very annoying as a character. She never really does anything useful. In season 2 she was awesome but I think they could have gone into her ability a bit more. But now she has concluded the storyline with her and Mohinder (well I think it is concluded) she isn't really needed anymore.
