Bo: So do you know anything about it?

Victor: Of course not! I’m just as dumbfounded as you are over this.

Steve arrives. Victor rolls his eyes.

Steve: I think I may have found something. So what do you know about it all, old man?

Victor glares at him.

Bo: He doesn’t know anything. What have you got?

Steve: Outside of Salem there are a couple of old mines that haven’t been used for years. But they are rather old. I can’t imagine anyone being able to go into them.

He looks at the floor.

Steve: WTH is this?

They all looks down to see the black dust on Victor’s reception carpet. Steve goes nuts and grabs Victor by the collar.

Steve: I thought you said you didn’t know anything!! Where they he!! is my daughter?!

Bo: Steve, let him go. Bo pulls him off Victor.

Victor: I don’t know anything. I don’t know why that is in here.

Bo: Who would have been in here today Vic?

Victor: Just the regular workers, and Melanie.

Victor’s mouth drops. He realizes something.

Bo: No, way, how could Melanie be involved in this?

Victor: I don’t know that she is for sure. But she and Philip had quite a few disagreements and arguments.

Steve: Stephanie talked to Kayla about her interfering in their relationship a few months back. She couldn’t get both of them by herself.

Bo: No, she had to have help. We need to figure this out and we need to check out all of those mines.

Thanks everyone. I am going on vacation next week, so I will try my best to write some more tonight or tomorrow. If I get time this afternoon, I may try to then.

Melanie shows up at the mine to see that her partner in crime is not there. Little does she know that Philip and Stephanie had a plan.

Melanie: Where is he?

Philip: Do you really think he reports in to us?

Melanie: Not funny. Where is he?

Stephanie: What’s wrong? You look nervous. (teasing and enjoying watching her squirm)

Melanie: Shut up! (She walks over to hit Stephanie)

Stephanie trips her and she falls over on Philip. Philip grabs the mask off her face and grabs her arm. Melanie’s eyes widen. None of them notice a key that falls out of her pocket and falls near Philip.

Mel: Let go of me!

Stephanie: It is you.

Philip: WTH do you think you’re doing?

Melanie pulls away and glares at Stephanie.

Melanie: This is your fault!

Stephanie: My fault? How is it my fault that you are a psychopath?

Melanie lunges towards her again but Philip grabbed her arm.

Philip: You are going to get us out of here and you are going to do it now!

Melanie pulls away again.

Melanie: Sorry, but that is not going to happen. (Looks at Philip) If you hadn’t used me to try to get the fuel project, none of this would have happened.

Philip: I got the fuel project, didn’t I?

Stephanie glares at him. She didn’t like that comment from him. He saw her look and looked down away from her.

Philip: Look, I’m sorry. But why do all this?

Melanie: This is the only way I could get her out of the picture. But you were not supposed to be here. Why did you have to be there all the time?

Philip: I’m sorry. I tell you what, let us go and I will make it up to you. I can ditch Stephanie, no problem.

Steph plays along.

Stephanie: WTH? Are you kidding me? You would do what she wants?

Melanie: Shut up both of you! Do you really think that I don’t know what you are doing?

Melanie grabs a piece of wood and gets ready to hit them with it but someone grabs her from behind. It’s her partner in crime.

Male: WTH do you think you’re doing? Why is your mask off?

Melanie: They pulled it off my head! We have to get out of here.

Male: Why? What have you done? You incompetent little…

He grabs her by the hair.

Melanie: Ow! You’re hurting me.

Male: You wouldn’t have gotten this far without me. I’m the best thing to ever come along for you.

Just then Stephanie’s jaw dropped.

Stephanie: OMG! It’s you!

I think I know who the male is - but I won't say.

hee hee

YAY! You're back! Can't wait to find out who "male" is! I'm totally clueless.

I am clueless too about who the male is...and Babyfaith...I like Stephanie the way you write her...with a brain and all.

The male looks at Stephanie and looks shocked. Surely she didn't figure it out. Philip looks at him, then at Stephanie and back at him.

Stephanie: Jeremy?!

Male: What? What are you talking about?

Philip: (shocked): Jeremy Horton? Seriously? WTH?

He still has ahold of Melanie and is hurting her but doesn't care.

Stephanie: It is you! What in the world are you doing?

Male: I don't know what you are talking about. I'm not this Jeremy guy.

Just then, Melanie being aggravated at him for not letting her go, reaches up and grabs his ski mask off his face. He looks at her in shock and back hands her across the face. Melanie screams.

Stephanie: Stop it! Don't hurt her like that!

Philip: Let her go!

Jeremy: Why should I? (He looks at Melanie) Where is my money? You were supposed to bring my money!

Melanie: I couldn't get it. They figured out it was me. I had to leave before I could get the money.

Jeremy: Who are they?

Melanie: Victor, Bo Brady and Stephanie's dad.

Jeremy: What did you do?

Mel: I didn't do anything.

While they were arguing, Steph noticed the keys and gestured towards them with her eyes at Philip. She couldn't reach them but he could. Philip grabbed the keys and slowly, carefully worked on the shackles.
Steph tried to distract them.

Stephanie: Why did you come back here for money? I thought you were out of the country by now?

Jeremy: I needed some cash. I came back looking for you and found loverboy in the way. I saw Melanie watching you one night and struck up a deal with her. I would get you out of her way so she could have Philip. All she had to do was bring me the money. (turns to Melanie) But you messed up!

Melanie: I didn't mess up!

They kept arguing. Philip got his unlocked and handed Steph the keys. She managed to get hers unlocked but the shackles accidentally dropped behind her and made a clank on the ground. Jeremy stops yelling at Melanie and looks over at them.

Jeremy: WTH was that?!

Wooohooo I was right! I knew it was that scum buckett that doesn't deserve the name Horton.

I figured you guys could guess it but Jeremy needed to come back for a bit. haha
I was thinking of someone from her racing days but decided on Jeremy instead. I'll write more later. Hopefully I won't take as long this time. hee hee

Stephanie: What are you talking about?

Jeremy: That noise. What was that noise? (He looks at Melanie) Where are your keys?

Melanie: I have them right….here…

She digs in her pocket but they are not there. Just then Jeremy grabbed her and slung her into the wall. In the distance a sound of rocks falling and rolling was heard.

Philip: Don’t hurt her, you son of a…!

Philip jumped up and lunged at Jeremy. He swung at him and hit Jeremy square across the jaw. They started wrestling and fighting. Melanie got up and ran and jumped onto Philip’s back. Stephanie jumped up, grabbed her and pulled her off.


Just as they were fighting, Hope, Bo, Steve, Kayla and Victor arrived at a mine. Victor decided to come along, it was his son who was missing too, afterall.

Bo: There are cars here. This has to be where they are.

Victor: That’s Melanie’s car. I don’t know who the other one belongs to.

Steve: Well, let’s get this show on the road people.

They all get out and get ready to investigate the area.

Hope: I’m going to call for backup, just in case.

Inside, Philip and Jeremy continue fighting. Melanie keeps trying to get in the way. Stephanie grabbed her again and slung her away from them and she hit the wall again and fell to the ground. Just then, a loud rumbling noise began. They all stopped to stare. Stephanie’s eyes widened as she realized what it was. She ran towards Melanie as a cave-in began to occur.

Stephanie: Melanie! Get out!!

She ran towards her.

Philip: Stephanie, NO!!

As Philip ran in that direction, Jeremy cowers and runs. He heads towards the exit. Philip runs towards Stephanie and Melanie. The mine caves and rocks and dust are falling everywhere.


Meanwhile, outside, Bo, Hope, Steve, Kayla and Victor hear something.

Kayla: Listen! What is that? (she gasps as she realizes what it is) Oh no!!

Steve: Oh no! Stephanie!!

They start running towards the mine. Bo, Hope and Victor follow suit.

As they get closer, they see a figure emerging from the dust coming from inside.

Kayla: Stephanie!!

Hope grabs Kayla to keep her from going further. It’s not Stephanie but a male figure.

Victor: Who is that?

Hope: Jeremy?

Bo: What the…?

Steve: What?! Jeremy Horton?

Kayla runs towards him.

Kayla: Jeremy? What are you doing here? Where is Stephanie? (she shakes him) Where is she??!!!

He kind of laughs as he glances back towards the mind and then tries to walk away. Steve grabs him and knocks the snot out of him.

Steve: Where is my daughter?!

Kayla starts running towards the mine. She is determined to do something.

Bo: Kayla stop!

Bo runs after her, while Steve continues to knock Jeremy around. Hope stops him.

Hope: Steve…Steve….stop!! Go get Kayla.

By that time Bo, Victor and Kayla are all up to the mine and trying to figure out what to do next.

Jeremy tries to run and Hope pulls her gun on him.

Hope: I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

Jeremy: Oh, c’mon cuz. You wouldn’t shoot me.

Hope: Try me.

Just then the back-up arrives. Hope tells them to take Jeremy in and to call for help. It’s going to be a long night. The police leave with Jeremy and radio in a rescue team. They have no idea what to expect right now.

As the dust settles inside, Philip is coughing and so is Stephanie. Stephanie is trapped under a pile of rubble.

Philip: Stephanie! Steph, are you ok?

Stephanie: I…I don’t know. Ouch! I can’t move.

Philip: A lot of rubble fell on you. Try to hold still. Let me see if I can get you out of here.

When he tries, he hears a few things falling around them and realizes that he can’t move anything right now.

Philip: Just don’t move.

Steph: Where’s Melanie? Oh my goodness! Where is she? Is she ok? I tried to stop her.

Philip: I can’t see her right now. Hang on. Let me see if I can find her.

Philip looks around towards the back the best he can for the rubble laying around. He finally can see her head and an arm sticking out.

Philip: I can see her! Melanie! Melanie, can you hear me?

Stephanie: Is she ok?

Philip: I can’t tell from here but I think she is breathing. I can see a little movement but not much.

Stephanie: We have to try to get out of here. Do you think Jeremy went for help?

Philip: I doubt it. He has too much against him to go running for help for us. He only cares about himself.

Stephanie: He’s not really that bad.

Philip: Are you serious?

Steph: Ok, so maybe he isn’t that great. But he wouldn’t just leave us here, would he?

Philip: I don’t know. Let’s just hope that there is help on the way.

Outside, Bo, Hope, Steve, Kayla and Victor are trying to move some rocks. Victor gets winded and Bo helps him sit down.

Bo: Sit down and rest. We can’t do much until help gets here anyway.

Hope: Kayla, let’s rest, ok?

Kayla: No! I’m not stopping. Stephanie is in there and I’m not leaving her in there.

Hope: You won’t be leaving her. Help is coming.

Just as she says that, a couple of ambulances show up for stand-by and some construction trucks and crew show up.

Kayla: I’m not stopping!!

She pushes Hope off her arm. Steve looks at her and decides to try to get her to back up and rest.

Steve: Come on, Sweetness. The rescue team is here. Let them do the work. We can’t move all these heavy rocks. They have the equipment to do it.

Kayla: But she’s in there. I have to help get her out.

Kayla starts sobbing and Steve puts his arm around her.

Steve: It’s ok. They will get to her. Come on, sit with Hope. Bo and I will do what we can to help.

He finally convinced Kayla to sit down with Hope and Victor. The rescue team started working on the rocks and rubble.

Inside, Philip is still trying to figure out how to get Stephanie out from under the rubble.

Stephanie: Philip, it’s no use. Just try to get out and go for help.

Philip: I’m not leaving you. I can do this. We will get out of here.

Stephanie: We won’t if you don’t go.

Philip: I told you, I’m not leaving. I can’t anyway. There are too many rocks and boulders in between us and the exit. But I will try to move some of the stuff between us and the exit to see what I can do to get us out of here.

As time passes, Philip is winded and tired. He sits to take a break and notices that Stephanie has lost consciousness.

Philip: Stephanie! Stephanie, can you hear me? Steph!

He checks to see if she is breathing and she is. He shakes her gently.

Philip: Steph, wake up.

Steph: What?

Philip: Stephanie, you have to stay awake.

Stephanie: It hurts. We’re not going to get out of here.

Philip: Yes, we are. Don’t say that.

He tries to lighten the mood.

Philip: Our parents are probably at each other’s throats. It’s like Romeo and Juliet.

Stephanie looks at him like he’s crazy.

Steph: Is that supposed to be funny? Romeo and Juliet died.

Philip: Sorry, just trying to cheer you up. But Romeo and Juliet’s parents became friends aftwerwards.

Stephanie: Are you kidding me? If we die, our parents will kill each other.

Philip: (chuckles) I guess you’re right. So that means you have to be strong and stay awake so we can get out of here. Deal?

Stephanie: Deal.

He kisses her on the lips and sits with her awhile to rest until he has the strength to start working again.

Hours have passed and the workers outside have made a lot of progress and inside so had Philip. He decided to try moving some of the rubble off Stephanie again. He made a little more progress this time without anything falling around her. Stephanie had passed out again and he needed to free her. He finally got things loosened from her legs but needed her to wake up to help him.

Philip: Stephanie. Steph, can you hear me? I need you to wake up. Steph!

She was out of it too much. He checked to make sure she was still breathing. She was.

Philip: Stephanie, please wake up.

He patted her face and she finally stirred a little.

Stephanie: Wh-What? Philip?

Philip: Steph, you have to wake up. I think I can move you out from under these but I need your help.

Steph: I can't. I can't move.

Philip: Yes, you can. You're strong. Now when I lift this up, I need you to try your best to scoot out, ok?

Stephanie: Ok. I will try.

She tried to move.

Steph: OW!! I can't do it!

Philip: Yes, you can. Hurry because I can't hold this up much longer.

Stephanie tried again and finally managed to get her legs out far enough so Philip could let go of what was on her.

He helped move her out further.

Philip: You need to stay awake. We got this far.

Stephanie: Ok, I will try.

Outside, the rescue workers had made a lot of progress. Inside, Philip thought he heard something.

Philip: Did you hear that?

Stephanie: Hear what?

Philip: Sshhh...listen.

Steph: I don't hear anything.

Philip: Listen. I think there is someone out there..... Hey! Hello! Is someone out there?

Stephanie: Philip, I don't think there is anyone there.

Philip: Yes, there is. Listen. I can hear something.

Stephanie listens closely.

Steph: I think I do. I can hear it. Oh my goodness, Philip, they found us.

Philip: Hello, is anyone out there?!

Philip started moving things again the best he could.

Philip: Hello!!

He finally can see a little bit of light.

Philip: I can see something. Hey! Who's out there? We're in here!

One of the workers finally hears something and yells back to everyone.

Worker: I think I hear something.

Steve, Kayla and the rest lift their heads in excitement. They all jump up to run over to the entrance. They had stopped to take a break from exhaustion of helping most of the night. Steve and Kayla were in tears.

Kayla: Did you find them? Stephanie!!

Steve musters up what energy he had to start helping move things again.

Steve: Stephanie!!

Philip: I can hear them. We're in here!!

Worker: Stand back. We are trying to move some more bigger rocks to get you out. You need to stand back for safety.

Philip moves back a little and watches the light get bigger. He turns to Stephanie and with what little strength he had left, he lifts her up.

Philip: Did you hear that? They are almost in here.

Finally a big gap opened up and there stood a couple of workers and Steve and Bo. Philip started walking out with Steph. Bo and Steve helped Philip walk out and helped keep him from dropping Stephanie. He wouldn't let her go. Then once they got outside, Philip dropped to his knees. Kayla ran up to them and she and Steve hugged Stephanie and cried. Victor walked up to Philip.

Victor: Are you ok?

Philip: I'm tired but I think so.

Kayla was checking Stephanie out. She had some broken bones. Kayla was sure of it.

Bo: Get those ambulances over here!

As they were loading Stephanie up, Philip decided to ride with her.

Stephanie: Melanie... OMG! Melanie is in there!

Philip started to go back.

Phil: We need to get her out!

Bo: You just go to the hospital with Stephanie. We will get her.

The workers went back in and worked some more.

One of them shouted: I see her! I need some help in here!

They all went in and was able to get her out. The ambulance left with Stephanie, Philip and Kayla.

Steve stayed behind to see if he could do anything else. They managed to get Melanie out. She was breathing, barely, and unconscious. They put her in another ambulance and she was off to the hospital too.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Steve, Victor, Bo and Hope headed on over to the hospital to be with the rest.

The next day, Stephanie wakes up in the hospital, sore and her leg in a cast. Philip walks in with a vase of flowers. Steph smiles.

Stephanie: Hey, you.

Philip: Hey. (smiles back) I brought you something.

Steph: They're beautiful. Thank you.

Philip: Not as beautiful as you. (He holds her hand)

Stephanie: (smirks) I look terrible.

Philip: No, you don't. How do you feel?

Steph: Sore, but could've been worse I guess. Thanks to you, I'm ok.

Philip: Thanks to everyone else.

Stephanie: Well, you helped, you know.

Philip smiles: Maybe a little.

Stephanie: How are you?

Philip: I'm ok. A few bumps and bruises, but I'll live.

They smile at each other.

Stephanie: Melanie? Did they get her out? How is she?

Philip: They got her out. They are not sure how she is yet. She's still unconscious, but stable.

Stephanie: What about Jeremy? What happened to him?

Steve walks in and answers.

Steve: He's in the big house where he belongs, paying for a long list of crimes.

Philip looks a little nervous and sits up straight but doesn't let go of Stephanie's hand. Philip and Steve exchange looks and Stephanie notices it.

Thanks goodness, this saved. After typing all that and hitting send, the computer froze before I knew if it went or not. LOL I hate that. Anyhoo....

Steve and Philip greet each other with a short acknowledgement.

Philip: Steve.

Steve: Philip. So…how’s my Little Sweetness?

Stephanie: I’m ok, Papa. Where’s mom?

Steve: She’s at home taking care of baby Joe but they will be here soon to check in on you. She was in here with you most of the night making sure everything was ok.

Steph: She must be tired. I know she was here until I fell asleep.

Steve: She stayed longer after that. She was really worried about you.

Stephanie: I know. I’m lucky to have both of you and my little brother.

Steve is sitting by her side on the opposite side as Philip.

Steve: And we are very lucky to have you. I don’t know what we would do without you. (He almost tears up)

Steph: Well, I’m ok, so don’t worry. I love you, Papa.

Steve: I love you too.

Lexie walks in with chart in hand.

Lexie: Well, hello there. I see you’re awake. You really needed your rest last night. How do you feel?

Stephanie: I feel pretty good other than being really sore and having this big cast on my leg.

Lexie: Well, you got lucky. With all that stuff they say was on you, your lucky all you have is a broken leg.

Philip: So what’s the verdict? Does she get to go home soon?

Lexie: Well, if all looks good by tomorrow, you should be able to go home then. We’re going to keep you one more night for observation. You were all in there for quite awhile. Philip, you got lucky too. You checked out fine except for your bruises and bumps. Are you sure you’re feeling ok otherwise?

Philip: Yes, I’m sure. Thanks for asking.

Steve: Philip, Kayla and I wanted to let you know that we really appreciate how you took care of our baby girl in there. It means a lot to us. (pauses) It means a lot to me.

Stephanie is in shock.

Philip: Thank you. I would do anything for her.

Steve: I know that now.

Stephanie: Papa, it wasn’t Philip’s fault that we were there. Jeremy…

Steve interrupts.

Steve: I know. You don’t have to worry about him anymore for a long time. He has some dues to pay before he is out again.

Philip: That’s good.

Steph: What about Melanie? What are they going to do with her? She was in on this.

Steve: We’re not sure yet. Bo has to wait until she wakes up to find out how much of this she was behind.

Philip: Seriously? She helped plan it all.

Steve: We have to wait and see.

Kayla walks in smiling with baby Joe.

Kayla: Hellooooo…looks who’s here to see you.

Steph: Hey little guy.

Baby Joe smiles at his big sister.

Kayla: We were worried about you. But it looks like you’re going to be fine.

Stephanie smiles: I know. And yes, I’m ok. I love you, mom.

Kayla: I love you too.

They hug each other and enjoy their visit together.
