So here is my Part I of the beginning of Philip and Stephanie's love story. hee hee There will be a Part II & III. But I have to work tonight so maybe later tonight or tomorrow sometime.

In front of the door (Steve and Kayla's)...

Steph: (a little too loud) Sshhhhh... We can't wake up my parents and the baby.

Philip: Well, then be quiet.
(steph struggles with the key)
Philip: Give me that.

He gets the door unlocked and Steph falls into the apartment onto Steve.

Steve: WTH is going on here?! Kiriakis! What are you doing here?

Philip: I was just bringing her home.

Steph: It's ok, Papa. I'm fline...fine.

Steve: Why are you with him? (the look of WTH still on his face)

Philip: She drank a little too much at The Cheating Heart so I drove her home.

Steve: Well, why didn't you call me?

Steph: It's ok. I can cake tare of myself. He was just helping me. (giggles)

Steve: Well, I can take it from here. Get out of here and don't come back.

Philip: You ok, Stephanie?

Steph: I'm fine.

Steve: See? She's fine.
(Slams door in Philip's face)

Great beginning. I'm ready for more!

Thanks. I will come back later and write some more. I have to bath dogs and get kids to bed first.

After Steve slams the door in Philip's face, Philip looks at the door and mumbles to himself.

Philip: Gee, thanks for bringing my daughter home safely.

Starts to walk away, looks at the door again and knows that Steph is safe and Papa Steve and her mom will take good care of her. He smiles a crooked grin and thinks that drunk Stephanie is funny...and cute, and walks away.


Meanwhile, inside the Johnson apartment...

Steve: Baby girl, what were you thinking? You let Philip Kiriakis bring you home?

Steph: Papa, it's ok. He was just making sure I got home safely.

Kayla enters...

Kayla: Shhh...what is going on in here?

Stephanie: Dad is upset because Philip brought me home.

Kayla: Philip Kiriakis? And why did you need to be brought home?

Steve: See? No Kiriakis.

Kayla: Are you drunk?

Stephanie: Just a little, geez. Stop making such a big deal out of it. I was just out and Max was there...

Kayla: Oh...Max.

Steve: Maxwell? What did he do to you Little Sweetness? (look of concern like he wants to find Max and give him an ear full)

Steph: He didn't do anything.

Kayla: He's just going through a lot right now. He will come around.

Stephanie: I doubt it. He thought I was going to apologize. But who cares anyway. Ugh! What is wrong with me? I was dating my mother's brother. I am so pathetic!

Steve: (turns her to look at him) Hey, look into my eye. You are not pathetic. You did the right thing. He is the pathetic one.

Kayla: Steve...

Steve: You don't worry about it. You don't need him. And you sure don't need Philip Kiriakis.

Stephanie: (getting frustrated about all the fuss over Philip) He just brought me home. It's not a big deal.

Kayla: Well, it's probably a good thing he did. It could have been worse.

Steve: Worse than Philip? I don't think so.

Kayla: Yes, worse. Are you ok?

Stephanie: I'm fine. Sorry, I wasn't thinking. But I don't feel so good. I'm going to bed. I'm sorry that I upset you.

Kayla: No, it's ok. Let me help you.

They walk off as Kayla helps her walk to the bedroom.

Steve looks at the door one more time, opens it to make sure Philip is gone, closes it, locks it and heads off to bed.

The next morning at the Kiriakis mansion...

Philip comes downstairs into the dining area. Victor is drinking his coffee and reading the morning paper.

Victor: It's about time you woke up. Did you plan to sleep all day?

Philip: I just had a late night. I was at The Cheating Heart last night and had to take Stephanie home because she had a few too many to drink.

Victor: Stephanie Johnson? Steve Johnson's daughter? You must be a glutton for punishment. I bet that went over well.

Philip: (smirks) Yeah, he wasn't too happy about it. A little ungrateful actually.

Victor: Well, what did you expect.

(Philip shrugs)

Victor: Why were you at The Cheating Heart with Stephanie anyway?

Philip: I wasn't. I was there talking to Chelsea about Max's sister, Melanie. Stephanie was there and upset about Max so she drank too much.

Victor: What are you, their babysitter?

(Philip rolls his eyes and ignores the comment).

Philip: Chelsea was just concerned and needed someone to talk to.

Victor: We need some help out at Titan. We have a new account coming up. Think you can handle finding someone?

Philip: Sure. Consider it done. I'm heading over to the gym before I go in. But I will get right on it as soon as I get in.

Victor: Sounds good. Have a good day.

Philip: You too.

(Finishes up his last bite of food and heads out)

The Johnson Apartment...

Stephanie comes into the living room.

Steve: (a little extra loud, on purpose) Good morning, Little Sweetness!

Stephanie: (holding her head) Shhh... don't talk so loud.

(Steve snickers)

Steve: Feeling a little bad this morning?

Stephanie: You could say that.

Steve: Well, don't worry. I made you some of my very special Steve Johnson Mo-Joe.

Steph: Steve Johnson Mo-Joe?

Steve: Yep, it will make you feel better in no time.

(Kayla enters carrying baby Joe)

Kayla: Oh no, don't tell me...his special mo-joe.

Steve: Here, drink this.

(Stephanie smells it and covers her mouth)

Steph: Eeeuuwww...You're kidding, right?

Kayla: (laughs a little and whispers) Trust me. Don't drink that. (regular voice tone) I will make you some "real joe."

Steve: There's nothing wrong with this stuff.

Stephanie: No, thanks. I'll pass.

(Kayla hands baby Joe over to Steve)

Kayla: Here. You hold the real special Johnson Joe, while I make some coffee.

Steve: (kisses little joe) Do you hear that little dude? They don't appreciate my special blend.

(Stephanie and Kayla smile)


A little later...

Stephanie comes out of the bedroom after a shower.

Stephanie: I think I will go to the gym now. I feel a lot better. Maybe it will do me some good.

Kayla: Are you ok, from last night with Max?

Stephanie: I'm fine, mom. Thanks. And I won't be drinking like that again for a long time...if ever.

Steve: If you ever get like that again, you call me or your mom. We will come and get you. Don't let Kiriakis bring you home anymore.

Steve and Kayla say their good-byes, Steph kisses little Joe on the head and goes out.

Ha Ha! I could completely see this happening. I'm still in my heart of hearts holding out hope for Phorgan ( I know) but I could see this happening, too!

LOL Thanks. I liked Phorgan too. I'm sorry she had to leave.
But I have high hopes for Philanie now. After today, it looks like she and Max are over for good. That is such a relief. lol

The Salem Gym...

Stephanie walks in and sees Philip aggressively hitting the punching bag.

Steph: Philip, are you ok?

Philip: Hi Steph, how are you? Yes, I'm ok. I just got back from the hospital seeing my mom.

Stephanie: How is she?

Philip: The meds are taking a toll on her. She isn't doing too great. But they are supposed to help her.

Stephanie: I'm sorry. She's a strong lady. She will be ok.

Philip: I hope so. How are you today? I'm surprised to see you in here.

Steph: I'm actually ok. I don't know how I would have been if I drank some of my dad's special mo-joe. (laughs)

Philip: Special mo-joe?

Steph: (smiles) Don't ask. I hope I didn't embarrass myself too much last night.

Philip: (chuckles) No, you weren't too bad. You told me you could cake tare of yourself.

Steph: (covers her face) I didn't say that?

Philip: You did. But it was kind of cute. So what's on your agenda today?

Steph: Well, before I came here, I stopped and signed myself up for self-defense classes.

Philip: Really? Who do you need to defend yourself against? Me? (laughs)

Steph: (laughs too) No. Ever since that whole Ford thing, I've been wanting to do something so I could know how to defend myself if I ever need to. I know being drugged I couldn't do much. But I just want to be prepared, ya know?

Philip: I understand that. So now you're here to work out a little?

Steph: (nods) Then I think I will try to find a job somewhere. I put off a lot of things when I went to France. I need to get myself back together and take over my life again.

Philip: (thinking) You know, we need to hire someone at Titan for a new account that is coming up. Maybe you might be interested in that?

Steph: Me work at Titan? Are you kidding? My dad would freak.

Philip: Yes, I gathered he wasn't too happy last night about me taking you home. My dad was a little weird about it too.

Stephanie: Yeah, it's not like they are drinking buddies or anything. (smiles)

Philip: (Jokingly) No, but we are.

(they both laugh)

Steph: You're on your own on that one. It will be awhile before I let myself get like that again.

Philip: So what do you say about the job? Or do you have to ask your dad first?

Steph: (wonders if that's a challenge) No! I don't have to ask him. (She sees Philip grinning at her and knows he was teasing her) You seem like a good enough guy. I think deep down, you're not so bad. So, I accept. When do I start?

Philip: How about first thing Monday morning?

Stephanie: Sounds good. I will be there. What about your dad?

Philip: Great. Welcome to Titan. And don't worry about him. I can handle him.

(they shake on it)

Philip: Now, I have to get going. Have a great day.

Stephanie: You too.

Philip exits and Stephanie wonders how she will explain working for Philip Kiriakis to her parents. She will figure it out when she crosses that bridge.

okay.. this is good despite the fact I love Phorgan.. I can't support Philip and Stephanie but this is good!

Monday morning...
The Johnson apartment...

Stephanie comes out of her bedroom, dressed very nice and professional.

Kayla: You look nice today. Where are you off to?

Stephanie: I'm starting a new job today. But I have to hurry so I'm not late.

Kayla: Wait. That's great. Where are you working?

Stephanie quickly answers and tries to dash out the door to avoid confrontation.

Stephanie: Titan. Gotta run!

Kayla: What?!

Steve walks in just to hear the announcement.

Steve: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! What did you just say?

Stephanie: (sighs) I got a job at Titan. Philip offered me a job and I took it.

Kayla: But at Titan?

Steve: Baby girl, I told you about hanging around that dude.

Steph: I know. But he seems ok. And I really need a job right now.

Kayla: Well, couldn't you find one somewhere else?

Steph: I tried with Tony and Anna's company, but they just hired somebody.

Steve: Philip just recently threatened your friend Morgan's father's life. He's no good.

Steph: I don't think he is that bad. And besides, I am a grown woman. I can take care of myself. If I make a mistake, at least I learned from it. I really need this. And the experience will be good for me.

Kayla: I don't know. I am with your father on this one.

Steph: Well, I can't help how you guys feel. I am determined to do this, with or without your approval.

Steve: I don't like it. But I know we can't tell you what to do. But remember this, if you have any trouble out of him or old man Vic, you just say the word and I will be over there to kick some Kiriakis butt.

Kayla: Not if I beat you to it.

Steph smiles

Stephanie: Thank you both. I love you. But really, I think it will all be fine. I know it will be fine.

Steve and Kayla reluctantly let her go. Stephanie is excited and she is an adult and can make her own decisions. She gives them both a kiss. And runs out the door.

Steve: I really don't like this Sweetness.

Kayla: Neither do I. But she's right. We have to let her go.

Steve: I know. But one wrong move from them...

Kayla: Yeah, I know.

They hug each other and go about their day.

Monday morning...
Titan...

Stephanie shows up at 9:00 sharp, just in time.

Philip (looking at his watch): You're here...and very prompt.

Stephanie: I would have been here sooner but I kind of got held up.

Philip: But right on time.

Victor enters and Stephanie smiles ready to greet him.

Victor (to Philip): Did you get the new person hired?

He sees Stephanie. Philip nods.

Victor: Stephanie Johnson? This is who you hired? Have you lost your mind?

Stephanie's smile fades and she glances at Philip and back at Victor.

Victor: You told me you would take care of hiring someone. I expected someone with experience.

Philip: I did hire someone with experience.

Steph: Ok, this was obviously a bad idea. I'm leaving.

Philip grabs her arm.

Philip: No wait.

He looks at Victor angrily.

Victor: Let's discuss this in my office.

Philip: (whispers to Steph) Don't go anywhere. Just trust me.

They go into Victor's office.

Stephanie is upset and wonders if this was all just a big mistake.


Inside Victor's office...

Victor: What were you thinking by hiring Steve Johnson's daughter? What does she know about any of this?

Philip: Will you just trust me? She is going to college and needs the experience. The account is for young women. I thought she might have good insight on it...being that she is a young woman.

Victor: Yeah, well too young if you ask me. I want her out of here and do it quickly.

Philip: Can't you just cut her a break? She is Chelsea's friend, and cousin. And she has been through a lot this past year. She was involved with the whole Ford Decker thing and...he hurt her. And she has broken up with Max...

Victor (interrupts): I don't care about her love life.

Philip: I'm just saying that she is trying to get a fresh start. I thought this would help her out...and us.

Victor softens a little. He remembers what Chelsea went through and can't imagine how Stephanie felt about it all.

Victor: So you want me to let her work here because she's been through a lot?

Philip: Yes, if you could. I think she will be good for this account. She's a smart person. I feel confident about it.

Victor (hesitates): Ok. But if she makes even one mistake, she's out of here. Do you understand?

Philip: Clearly.

They go back out. Steph is standing there looking around the room. She turns and looks at them a little nervously, but determined.

Victor: Welcome aboard.

Stephanie (extends her hand for a handshake): Thank you. I look forward to it.

Victor ignores her hand. She drops hers and she and Philip glance at each other.

Victor: I look forward to seeing your work. I trust Philip will show you around and get you settled in.

He glances at Philip and they exchange a look. Victor's to say he better know what he's doing. Philip's to say trust him.

Stephanie (again): Thank you.

Victor walks back into his office.

Steph (sarcastically): Ok, that went well.

Philip: Actually, it went better than I expected.

Stephanie (smiles): You think that was good?

Philip (chuckles): Of course it was.

He jesters his hand down the hall.

Philip: Right this way.

Stephanie follows him up the hall ready to begin her first day.

Just FYI, Stephanie is already graduated in my story. I will be skipping ahead in the story soon...stayed tuned. lol

Lots of reads but few replies, but that's ok, I'm still having fun.

A few months have passed, about 3, 4, or so...
Stephanie has been doing really well at Titan. Victor is growing to respect her. Her parents are learning to accept that she is independent and doing well. They are proud of her. But they both are waiting for one wrong move from either Victor or Philip. Stephanie and Philip are growing closer. They have grown a great friendship. They find themselves staring into each other's eyes a little too long sometimes. They hug as friends but hug longer than they should. But can't admit that they are developing feelings for each other, especially to other people.

One day in Philip's office, Stephanie is showing off her new moves she learned at her self-defense class. She is getting pretty good. They spar pretty often. With Philip's training from being in the service, he is good at showing her more defense moves.

Philip acts like he is lunging at her like an attacker and Stephanie quickly sweeps his feet out from under him. This time she falls on top of him somehow. They laugh at each other. And then stop to gaze again. Philip brushes her hair away from her face. They share a moment and then Steph quickly gets up.

Stephanie: Well, I guess I showed you.

Philip: Yeah, sure you did. (smiles slyly)

Steph: What? I meant to do that. I could have kneed you in the...well, you know...if I really wanted to.

Philip: Well, I'm glad you didn't want to.

They laugh nervously.

Philip: Ready for The Cheating Heart?

Steph: Sure, just let me get my things.

At the Cheating Heart...

Philip and Stephanie are still teasing each other about the sparring incident over a beer. They both reach in the peanut bowl at the same time and brush hands, then stare again. Chelsea walks in and witnesses it.

Chelsea: Hey, guys, what's up? Am...I...interrupting anything?

Philip and Steph: No.

Steph: Not at all. Have a seat. What's up?

Chelsea: Not much. I had a long day at the hospital with a new case. But I've been doing ok.

She is still looking back and forth at the two.

Chelsea: So what's going on here?

Philip: What do you mean?

Chelsea: I just felt like I walked in and interrupting something.

Philip and Steph exchange looks but brush it off.

Philip: No, you didn't interrupt anything.

Chels: Ok. I just came to grab a quick snack and then head home. Have a great night. (smiles)

Steph and Philip: Ok, you too.

Steph and Philip look nervously at each other after she walks off. Philip decides that it's time to take the plunge.

Philip: You know, we haven't really celebrated officially your success so far at Titan. Maybe we can go somewhere tomorrow more sophisticated and celebrate together.

Stephanie: (taking the plunge too) You mean, like a date? (hoping she is reading the signs correctly)

Philip: Yes, like a date. What do you say? Chez Rouge, about 6:30?

Stephanie: (nods) Sounds great. I will be there.

Philip: No, I will pick you up. Well, maybe not... (remembers the last time he was at her parents house)

Steph: Oh, no that's ok. I have my own place now.

Philip: You never told me that.

Steph: The opportunity never presented itself. I am at the loft where my parents lived a long time ago.

Philip: The loft? The loft? I lived there when I was married to Belle.

Steph: Oh...I'm sorry. I forgot all about that.

Philip: No, that's ok. It's all water under the bridge. Old memories but that was a long time ago. But I will be there, if that is still ok with you.

Steph: Absolutely. It's a date.

Philip: It's a date then.

Steph: (looks at her watch) It's getting late. I guess I should go.

Philip: Ok, I will walk you out.

He walks her out to her car. They are unaware of eyes watching them. Stephanie gets in her car and drives away. Philip watches her leave and smiles. The eyes watch him walk to his car, get in and drive away.

I will be updating this weekend. I've been busy, in case anyone was wondering. lol

The date...


Philip arrives at the loft (Steph's place) at 6:30 sharp with a bouquet of flowers. He knocks and of course, Stephanie answers the door.

Stephanie: Right on time.

Philip: Of course. And these are for you.

Stephanie: Calla lilies! They are beautiful...and my favorite.

Philip: I know.

Stephanie: How did you know?

Philip: I have my sources.

Steph gives him a look over the bouquet.

Philip: Ok, Chelsea told me.

Steph: Come on in. I will put them in a vase and then we can go.

Philip: I like what you did with the place.

Steph: Not much was changed. (smiles)

Philip: (smiles back) I know.

He looks around the room to notice many feminine touches and in the corner a punching bag.

Philip: But you have added some of your own special touches. (he says this as he socks the punching bag)

Stephanie: Well, I have to keep in shape. (chuckles) Are you ready to go?

Philip: Absolutely. After you.

They go out and Steph locks the door behind them.

As they get into the elevator, they are unaware of someone watching them.

Stephanie's Flowers

The Date Continued...
At Chez Rouge

Steph and Philip are seated and enjoying a meal together and some wine.

Philip: So, how is everything?

Steph: It's great. Thank you. And thank you again for the flowers. They are really beautiful.

Philip: (Smiles) So are you. You look great tonight. (touches her hand)

Stephanie smiles and is a little embarrassed.

Stephanie: Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself. (thinks to herself, why did I say that)

Philip smiles.

Maggie sees the sparks from across the room and orders some special music. They don't realize it's for them.

Philip: Would you like to dance?

Steph: Sure.

As they dance, Philip holds her close and they move slowly and don't seem to notice anyone else in the room. The music is perfect. A song that is meant only for a modern Romeo and Juliet.
After the music ends, they stand there a second still holding each other.

Steph: Ummm...I guess we should sit back down now.

Philip: Yes, I guess we should.

They manage a chuckle.

They sit, finish their meal and have a nice conversation about personal stuff, work, and other things but gaze into each other's eyes quite often.
After they eat, Philip pays the bill and they leave.

Back at the loft, Philip walks Stephanie to her door.

Steph: Thank you. I had a wonderful time tonight.

Philip: I did too.

They are standing rather close and the tension is building. He is looking into her eyes.

Philip: I've been wanting to do this for a long time.

He leans in to kiss her and she kisses him back. The kiss is very intense. It turns passionate and Stephanie reaches for the door handle. Then she backs away a little. He looks at her hand and thinks she wants him to come in. They kiss passionately again. Stephanie puts her hand on his chest to stop him. They are both breathing heavily.

Steph: I think I should go in now.

Philip: I think we should too.

Stephanie giggles at him.

Steph: No, I said, I should go in.

Philip is embarrassed.

Philip: Oh. I'm sorry. I just thought...

Steph: No, it's ok. I'm sorry. I'm just not ready yet.

Philip: That's ok. I understand.

Steph: I really had a wonderful time tonight.

Philip: So did I.

He kisses her again and they smile at each other.

Philip: Goodnight. See you tomorrow?

Steph: Of course. Goodnight.

They kiss one more time and she goes in. Steph locks the door behind her and leans against the door. Philip is on the other side wishing he could go in too but he respects her and turns to leave.

Stephanie walks over to the sink where the flowers are and moves them to the coffee table. She sits on the sofa and smiles at them. She is really smitten.

Outside the door as Philip turns to leave, someone hits him from behind, knocks him out and drags him off. What they don't notice is that his cell phone drops near the stairs.

Great so far!!!! It is better than the real Days ! Are you going to write more soon??

The next morning…

Stephanie heads out to the gym with her earphones on with her ipod. She gets into the elevator and doesn’t notice Philip’s cell phone on the floor just a few feet away.

When she returns, she took the stairs and heard the phone ringing when she got to the top.
She realizes it is Philip’s phone and sees that it is Victor calling and answers.

Steph: Hello?

Victor: Who is this?

Steph: Hello Mr. Kiriakis. This is Stephanie.

Victor: Stephanie? What are you doing with Philip’s phone? Put him on. I want to talk to him.

Stephanie: I’m sorry but he’s not here. He must have dropped the phone on his way out last night.

Victor: Last night? Nevermind, I don’t want to know.

(Steph smiles to herself)

Victor: He didn’t make it to work yet and I need to speak to him. If you see him, have him call me as soon as possible.

Steph: I sure will.

Victor hangs up and so does Steph. She looks at the phone and wonders why Philip hasn’t called from somewhere to ask if she had seen it. She goes on inside to get ready for work. Goes upstairs and gets in the shower.

After her shower, Steph comes down stairs wearing sweats and a t-shirt. She is taking her time getting ready for work because Philip told her she could go in later today since they were out late.
She feels a chill and closes her window. She doesn't remember leaving it open.
Her phone rings...

Steph: Hello?

Kayla: Hi sweetie, it's me.

Steph: Hi mom. How is everyone?

Kayla: We're doing good. I was wondering if you wanted to go get some coffee together before you go into work. Why are you still home anyway?

Steph: Coffee sounds great.

Steph proceeds to tell her that Philip told her she could go in later today. Then she hears something, turns around only to see a stranger in the room with her wearing a mask. She screams.

Kayla: Stephanie! What's wrong?

Steph: There's someone here!

She turns to run. The intruder grabs her, she drops her phone as she wiggles away.
On the other end of the phone Kayla is yelling.

Kayla: Stephanie! Stephanie! What's happening?

Steve (walks in): What's wrong?

Kayla (panicking): I don't know. Stephanie! I was talking to her and she started screaming and said someone was there. I hear something.

Steve: Give me the phone. (He listens) Stephanie!

At the loft Steph is still struggling to get away. She runs past the punching bag and pushes it at the intruder and it makes him struggle. She runs around the sofa hoping to get to the door. The intruder jumped over the sofa, knocked over the vase of flowers and pulls Stephanie to the floor. She screams again.

Steph: No!

Steve: Stephanie, what's going on? I have to get over there.

Kayla: I'm going with you. I will take Joe to mom's on the way over. You go on. I will meet you there.

Back at the loft, Stephanie refuses to be a victim again. She fights with all she has. She spots the vase, grabs it and hits the attacker in the side of the head. He is stunned but not knocked out but it gives her time to run for the door. As she opens the door, there stands another attacker and the attacker sprays pepper spray in her face. When she turns to grab her eyes, the second attacker quickly throws a handkerchief over her face. Steph falls out quickly. By that time, the first attacker makes it to the door to catch her and throws her over his shoulder. Both intruders give each other angry eyes through their masks. They quickly exit with Stephanie.

More, more, we want more! This is really good.

Steve arrives at the Loft and sees the mess scattered about.

Steve: Stephanie!

He looks around and runs upstairs.

Steve: Stephanie!!

He checks the window and it's locked but he goes up anyway to look around. As he comes back in Kayla and Bo are arriving. Kayla stops to stare at the mess.

Kayla: Is she here? Stephanie!!

Steve: No. I looked everywhere. (looks at Bo) How did you get here so fast?

Bo: I was at The Pub when Kayla dropped Joe off and I followed her over after she told me what happened. (he looks around the room) Looks like she put up a heck of a fight.

Kayla is still in shock, looking around the room. She sees the vase and the flowers on the floor and starts to pick them up while sobbing.

Bo: Don't touch anything. We need to check everything out for evidence.

Steve walks over to Kayla and holds her.

Kayla: (sobbing) I feel the same way I did when we lost her as a baby. Who could have done this?

Steve: It's okay, Sweetness. We got her back then and we will get her back again.

Victor walks in.

Bo: What are you doing here?

Victor: WTH happened here?

Steve and Kayla look up to see him there.

Steve: What have you done to Stephanie?

Victor: What?! Nothing.

Kayla runs over to him and starts pounding him on the chest.

Kayla: What did you do with my daughter?!! Where is she?!

Steve pulls her away and yells at Victor.

Steve: Where is she old man? Did your little mini-me get into some kind of trouble and mix her up in it?

Bo stands between them to let Victor speak.

Victor: No. I have no idea what you are talking about. I called Philip's cell phone this morning and Stephanie answered it and said that Philip must have dropped it last night. I came here to find Philip. He hasn't showed up for work this morning and didn't come home last night.

Bo: So Philip is missing too.

The cops show up.

Bo: Look around and see what you can find.

Steve sees two cell phones on the floor.

Kayla: That one is Stephanie’s. She was talking to me when she was attacked. (tearful again)

Victor: And that one is Philip’s.

Steve: Have them take these down to the cop shop to see if there are any prints.

Bo: Will do. And we will see what else we can find. Kayla, why don’t you go home and I will let you know if anything turns up.

Kayla: I want to help.

Steve: It’s ok baby. I will stay. Go and be with Joe and I will call you.

Kayla: Ok. (reluctantly)

She gives Victor the evil eye.

Kayla: If anything happens to my daughter, I will hold you personally responsible.

Victor just looks at her, like, yeah right. And then looks at Steve to see him giving him the “eye”. Kayla exits.

Victor: I will have my men looking too.

Steve: I don't need your men.

Victor: My son is missing too. I will not sit around and do nothing.

Victor exits. Steve and Bo and the cops continue to investigate the area.

When Stephanie wakes up, it’s cold and damp. She is groggy and realizes that she is tied up. She is startled and looks herself over good. Everything seems to be ok. She doesn’t look like she has been touched anywhere. She hears something and is frightened.

Stephanie: Who...Who’s there? Hello? Where am I?

Then she hears a whisper. It sounds like her name.

Stephanie: Who’s there?

She hears her name again, barely audible but she recognizes it.

Philip: (he whispers) Stephanie?

Stephanie can see him and he seems to be drugged. She moves herself closer to him.

Stephanie: Philip?! Are you ok? Philip.

She sees a shadow move across the wall and jumps.

Stephanie: Who’s there? Hey! Hey! He needs help. What did you do to him?

Philip’s head falls on her shoulder and she holds him. The shadow she saw is gone. She wonders who has them here and why.

Ok, so I typed late and I put that she was tied up but then held Philip. That's what I get for writing late at night. lol So they are shackled and the chains are on the wall but they are sitting down and have a little bit of room to move. LOL

That's OK - we're Days fans. We're used to things like this!

I'm beginning to see how some things can be forgotten. LOL But they are professionals and I'm not. hahaha

Sorry I've been slow. I will try to write more this weekend. You guys are great.

Sometime in the night, Stephanie finally fell asleep after she had eaten a meal that someone with a mask tossed at her. She was hungry so she ate. She was starting to wake up, but felt groggy again. She heard voices but they were muffled to her. It was a male and a female.

Female: What are you going to do with them?

Male: I haven't figured that out yet. They can't go back, not now.

Female: What do you mean they can't go back? He wasn't supposed to be here anyway.

Male: Shut up! He was in the way.


Stephanie couldn't believe what she thought she was hearing. Could this really be her fault that they are here? She was cold and stirred a little.

Female: Shhhh! They're waking up.

Philip: Stephanie, wake up. Steph, are you awake?

Stephanie: Yes. Ouch!

She ached from the cold, hard floor.

Steph: Where are we? Are you ok?

Philip: I am for now.

Steph: Did you hear what they said? It's my fault. You shouldn't be here.

Philip: No, don't say that. I wouldn't have it any other way. I hate to think of you being here by yourself.

Steph: What happened? When did you get here?

Philip: I was hit over the head and brought here the night we went out.

Stephanie: I'm so sorry.

Philip: It's not your fault. Do you have any idea who they are? They've been muffling their voices.

Stephanie: No. Not yet.

Male: Shut up, you two! Enough lovey dovey stuff.

Philip: What do you want?

Philip struggles to get loose but he can't.

The female with the mask on walks plates and a drink over to them.

Male: Just shut up and eat!

Philip kicked the plate away. The male with a mask walked over to him and struck him on the side of the face. Stephanie screamed.

Male: I said shut up and eat!
He threw Philip's plate at him.

Stephanie just stared.
Steph: Stop hurting him!!

Male: Shut up! We'll be back later.

They walked out.

Steph: Oh my gosh, Philip, are you ok?

She is tearful.

Steph: I'm so sorry. I have no idea who this is or what they want.

Philip: I'm ok. And stop blaming yourself. They are obviously crazy. Don't worry. We will figure out a way to get out of here. Don't eat the food. I think that is how they are drugging us.

Steph looked at the plate of food. She was hungry but she agreed. They moved close to each other and Philip put his arm around her to keep her warm. They spent most of the time trying to figure out how to get out of there and loose from the shackles and the other time trying to stay warm.

The next morning, they woke up to the male attacker kicking at them. Philip and Steph had finally dozed off last night after trying to stay awake to watch the male attacker who had spent the night in there with them. He seems to not really have anywhere important to go.

Male: Wake up! It's time to eat.

Philip: We're not eating that garbage.

Stephanie: (whispers) Philip, I'm so hungry.

The attacker heard her.

Male: Did you hear that? She's hungry. There, eat up. Don't worry, there's nothing in it.

Stephanie: Why should I believe you?

He reaches over to her plate and takes a bite, then does the same to Philip's.

Male: See? It's fine. Now eat.

Stephanie gladly starts eating. Philip does too but slowly. He is still cautious.

Steph: Do I know you? There's something familiar about you. Why are we here?

Male: Don't ask quesitons. Just eat.

Philip: You won't get away with this. There are probably dozens of people out there looking for us now. It's just a matter of time before they find us.

Male: I doubt you will be found here.

Stephanie: Where are we anyway? What is this place?

Philip: It's some type of old mine. There are no mines in Salem that I know of.

Male: Good observation. Now, I have to go out for a bit. (he checks their shackles) Don't go anywhere now. (he laughs, and then walks away)

Thanks MP for reading. I will write some more very soon. Once I am able to really sit down, I will try to do a lot at a time. I do have it all planned out, how it will end and everything. But of course, Philianie will not really end. But this particular story will close when I am done and, well, you'll see. hee hee

After both attackers were gone for awhile, Philip and Stephanie were trying to brainstorm on who they could be and what they wanted. They also tried to figure out ways to get away.

Philip: D*mn it! These shackles are not coming loose. We need a key. One of them has to have it on them. You said the guy seems familiar. Think. What is it about him?

Stephanie: I don't know. I can't quite put my finger on it. What about the girl? She said you weren't supposed to be here. There's something about her too. She seems rather clumsy. Who has it in for me but doesn't want you harmed?

They both sit there a minute and then both of their jaws drop. At the same time they realize who she is.

Philip and Steph: Melanie!!

Stephanie: But why would she want to harm me? And what does this guy have to do with it?

Philip: She wanted me to break up with you awhile back and wanted me for herself. I turned her down. I care about you. I couldn’t do that to you.

Stephanie is touched. They share a moment and touch hands.

Stephanie: So she wanted me out of the picture so she could have you. Where did she find someone to help her do this and what’s in it for him?

Philip: It has to be money. She must have offered him money. Who do you know that is hard up for money?

Stephanie: I don't know anyone. Think, Stephanie, think...

Philip: Don't worry. It will come to you.

Meanwhile back in Salem, at the loft. Steve is on the phone.

Steve: Bo, I think we found something here. I’m sending your forensic men over with a sample.

Bo: What is it?

Steve: It looks like some type of dirt, only it’s black. They found some on Stephanie’s floor and some more outside the door.

Bo: Ok, when they get here I will put a rush on it. Did you find anything else?

Steve: No, there doesn’t seem to be any other evidence.


A couple of hours later forensics comes back. They hand Bo the envelope.

Steve: So what have we got?

Bo looks confused.

Steve: What is it?

Bo: It says it’s coal dust. There are no coal mines in Salem.

Steve: WTH? I’ll get on the computer on the maps and see what I can come across. In the meantime…

Bo: I think I need to go visit Victor again.

Bo arrives at Titan as Victor walks out of his office.

Victor: Bo, what are you doing here? Did you hear anything?

Bo: No, I haven’t heard anything but I did come across some interesting evidence. Thought I would see if you knew anything about it.

Victor: Seriously? Are you accusing me of having my own son kidnapped?

Bo: No. I just want to see if anything sounds familiar to you.

While they are talking, Melanie shows up but stops at the corner when she sees Bo and listens in. She was there earlier but ran out for some errands at lunchtime.

Victor: Well, what is it?

Bo: Steve found something at the scene and when forensics checked it out, it turned out to be coal dust.

Victor: Coal dust? WTH is there coal dust in Salem?

Bo: There’s not, that I know of. Steve is checking it out as we speak.

Melanie’s eyes widen. She hightails it out of there quickly. She has to let her partner in crime know.
