SOVEREIGN LAND —When a sheriff’s deputy is found murdered on an Indian reservation, Crews (Damian Lewis) and Reese (Sarah Shahi) find themselves in the middle of a turf war between Tribal police and the county sheriff’s department. The detectives learn the victim was not well-liked on the reservation and the opening of a new profitable casino may have led to the deputy’s demise. Meanwhile, Crews attends a fundraiser thrown by Mickey Rayborn (William Atherton), one of the individuals Crews believes was involved in the conspiracy against him.

What about the "kidnapping" at the end of Badge Bunny? Curious. huh.gif

God how I look forward to Wednesday nights now! Who ever would have thought that hump day would be my favorite night of the week!!! biggrin.gif

OMG - I love that Reese cut Tidwell's hair!!!! As much as I do not like them together, I am so happy she cut that hair - can't wait to see it!!!!

It's getting Better and Better! Ooh and I was pulled right into the teaser for next week too. This season is shaping up quite nicely.

Great episode. Loved how they finished up last show's cliffhanger. This show gets better with each episode. Come on NBC. Shell out some dough and publicize Life. Remember what they say about Karma. sleep.gif

The last time I saw Charlie Crews he was driving a Limo and somebody smashed the drivers side window and grabbed him.
I tend not to forget those little details.
Tonight, it's like that never happened.
This is not the way I want my favorite Cop Show written. That little detail should have been resolved before we skip out of town for Deer Stew and phone sex with L-T.

My favorite moment; tonight?
"I'm in love with Olivia. I love Olivia. I'm in love with the woman who is marrying your step-father."
That a boy, Ted!
Like we didn't know that was coming ... sooner or later!

Then, Reese is standing there, naked as a Jay-bird, right in front of the L-T!
Who ... IS getting cleaned-up a little bit at a time. Nice. Cute. But, it don't make forgetting about:
"Kidnapping? No. This is a kidnapping"
(Smashing of the drivers-side window.)

Meanwhile, back at the party for high-rollers, beautiful and rich people ... Los Angeles two richest cops are having a little chat before one of them up-and-dies realizing he can't take the money with him ... so, he hints to Charlie that he's taking a few bad guys off before he goes?

Hey, what's the matter with you writers?
The Forum writers could have done a better job, tonight.
Get the edge back, people.
I don't want the audience getting alienated and confused!

Another wonderful episode, with too many great scenes to mention. I did want to point out one thing however...it looks as if Reese decided to take the purple microfiber underwear with the patented breathability patch off of Crews' hands after all. And DAMN did they look great on her!

Sarah Shahi is nine shades of sexy.

Ugh, he's still all greasy. And WTF is wrong with him that he keeps calling her, "Dude"??????? That has to be some serious psychological issue - I'm a heterosexual female, and even I know she's hot. rolleyes.gif

Check the Name That Tune music thread, pinned above in a day or 2 for your answer. taltos19, our volunteer music researcher/historian should have it updated by then. smile.gif

I think it is Reckoner by Radiohead
crimedawg62
So...am I to assume that "Dickless" (Willian Atherton) set up his own kidnapping but not to set up Charlie and that he had someone else in mind? He usually plays a slime-ball so it is weird seeing him taking the high road.

I thought the scene at the dinner table was HIGH-larious. It does seem though in that scene that Rachel does want Charlie around more often...which may be why she said he wasn't her uncle.

And one last thing...I get the feeling the network is meddling with the show. That is the only explanation I can think of for Reese and Tidwell. We literally got to see more of Dani than ever before. Maybe the network is asking them to sex things up to get better ratings. Every time Tidwell says something stupid...like calling her "dude" which is hard to believe a New York cop would use so often...you think it is the last straw but they still keep hooking up.

Almost forgot....Is Charlie really that jaded to be embarassed by Tidwell's phone call? Or is it that he was embarassed to accidently get inside Dani's "wall"?

Brilliant! I didn't catch on to that!

Also for those saying it's like the kidnapping never happened... what are you talking about? At the start he was at the guys mansion, and the rich cop (I forget his name sorry) explained that he was sorry to charlie, and that it was his private security, and they didn't know that charlie was a cop and that's why they did that... and then he said that if charlie wanted to talk to him, to just ask next time.

That's clear as day! Did you guys not watch the beginning or something?

Anyway... This was one of my favorites!!!
Sarah Shahi is nice in those purple underwear. And I laughed so hard when Charlie picked up the phone and only heard "Are you wearing your purple panties? Oh wait, you can't because you left them here." hahaha and the look on Charlie's face. So Great!! Keep it up.
Cybelle09
Loved the episode tonight with Tidwell using "dude". Cali is growing on our tough guy from New York. Using "dude" is definitely one of my bad habits, and one I can't seem to that shake. Take the girl out of Cali, but you can't take the Cali out of the girl. =)

Not sure if i'm happy about Tidwell and Reese sleeping together though. I think I preferred the playful flirting and banter that they had before. Nice to see Tidwell cleaning up a bit though.
lucyn225
Fantastic episode all around! I loved the dinner scene...Charlie's line after Ted left, "White people" made me laugh my butt off! rolling.gif I loved the hotel scene also - Charlie's face when Tidwell called back and he wouldn't answer the phone was priceless. blink.gif This show just keeps getting better.

I think Charlie is going to have to start being a tad more responsible if he wants to get along with Rachel. She had a point, he was gone all night - 2 nights in a row - and didn't call home at all. He wouldn't even have noticed that she didn't come home if Ted hadn't called him.

I like the whole Reese/Tidwell dynamic. I know this isn't a very popular opinion but I think that he is just what she needs. She is becoming more assertive and happier. When she finally moves on, she is going to be more healed. It is definitely going to be interesting to watch.

I pulled up the site to check out the bio for Donal Logue and was surprised how many people were unhappy with the storyline involving Reese and Tidwell. I think it's great and I like the unpredictable quality of the writing and the humor that seems to be the hallmark of the new season. Some scenes like the four of them showing up together, Crews with the glitter on his face and Reese and Tidwell with each other's guns or the awkwardness at serving vindaloo to the Native American cop make me laugh every time I think of 'em.

Hello fellow LIFEers, I’m a little bummed out this week. Wednesday nights episode was good but it still isn’t going in the direction I want it to go (jmo). I have no idea where the writers heads are at. Cutting Tidwell’s hair was a good start but I do believe that most of the fans know that he isn’t even on the same level as Miss Reese! The pushing of this relationship on the fans had me so aggravated last week that I didn’t even finish watching the episode “Badge Bunny”.

As I recall the chief started this season and detective Reese couldn’t stand his schoolboy advances toward her, now , only a few short eps later they’re rutting together and Reese still isn’t sure she’s attracted or even likes the guy, WHAT THE HECK??? I do think that Danni is more attracted to Charlie ( that’s where it should be headed) and she even teases Tidwell with him thinking that they bunked in the same room. The writers seemed to have missed the boat when it came to the RidWell relationship. This whole season could have had the hilarious antics of him chasing after her and she making those “Idiot” eyes at him.

Anyhoo, the shippers seemed to have taken over the show with little/or less attention being paid to having a really interesting and funny crime story. PLEASE get back to same show season 1 started us on. I want to continue watching LIFE, but I don’t like seeing it go down into the mucky-muck.

Z, chiming in.
Uhuragirl
I am enjoying Life. I loved this episode! I love the Reese/Tidwell ship but I was disappointed that they moved it along so fast. I was enjoying the flirting and thought they wouldn't get together for awhile.

There were so many cool things about tonights' episode:

  • Capt Whitehat asking if Crews had a head injury
  • The look on Crews' face when he picked up the call from Tidwell
  • The entire motel scene between Crews and Reese
  • Crews saying "white people" at the dinner table.
  • Ziggy turning out to be a woman and more Type A than her brother.
  • Reese giving Tidewell a much needed hair cut

I really get a kick out of this show. I can hardly wait for next week.
joyni89
First off, let me start by saying this was a great episode as the case has been more and more in the most recent episodes. Second of all I am very excited by this episodes ratings. Thanks to the Christmas at 30 Rock lead in this episode averaged a 5.3/8 rating share, up from a 3.5/5 2 weeks ago!! That is a very significant jump that NBC will surely notice. Honestly tats a pretty decent rating all around...not just for Life lol.
christyh____y
The song at the end of the episode is Reckoner by Radiohead. It's on ITunes.

Second, I have to say this was the best episode, and I LOVE this show!!!!! I am completely addicted.

And for the poster who didn't think they tied up the kidnapping of Crews, maybe you missed the first scene, he wakes up by the guy's pool, and the goon who busted in the window is there. I loved the last line of the episode by the bad guy, and now we begin. How awesome! If NBC ever cancels this show, I will boycott them forever!!!!!!!!!
angel319
So I guess those who really don't like the Tidwell/Reese relationship(myself included) are just going to have to deal with it, aye? I don't know, I just do not like that ship. And while I'm glad Tidwell got a bit of a haircut, someone needs to tell him to lessen up on the hair product.

I did love in this episode the conversation around the dinner table. And am I the first to point out that he finally has a dinner table? Or have we seen it before and I just didn't notice it? It's like everyone was blurting out so many things, priceless.

I LOVE this show - SOOOOO GLAD it is going to a full season - I loved when she cut Tidwell's hair off last night - what a WONDERFUL show. Also loved it when Rachel was acting out because she couldn't reach him. He has a really quirky family now - am really anxious to see how that is explored.

OK, Oil Can - agreed, glad the oily look is gone - LOVE the relationship between Dani and Tidwell!! I really think it's a good one to explore - not so much with Charlie-he has a lot on his plate at the moment what with Ted in love with Olivia and Rachel acting out - not to mention he has to get to the bottom of who did this to him.

I LOVED the dinner table scene!! What a quirky great family - Rachel acting out and Ted's announcement - with Charlie's response - "White People", LOL, how great is that!!

What is up with this guy dying? No doubt May sweeps answer but I will have to PRAY PRAY PRAY that NBC won't cancel it and leave us hanging!! That would be the worst. K

This was a good episode. I did kinda cringe every time Reese marched around nude/near-nude in front of Tidwell, mostly because I just don't like them together. I like them as characters, but together I keep thinking, "No way this ever lasts, why are we wasting this many episodes on it?".

However, I am glad that we have a team of writers who are willing to develop something in a semi-realistic time frame, instead of just relying on the audience to assume some kind of temporal leap was made. My only question: why didn't Lt. Davis' reassignment get any kind of attention, and why wasn't this done with Reese and Tidwell at the start, too. Then, maybe (just maybe) I could handle this relationship
eponine1971
Congratulations Crews! It's a girl! And she's a teenager. Have fun. Perfectly written. He hasn't realized that she is relying on him as a father figure weather that is what he planned on or not. They went through that horrible ordeal together but separate. They were both set up by the same people. They both need to come to terms with that. Yes he was in prison. But she was being raised by the same man who killed her family. You tell me which is worse.

I think this Tidwell character is going to be a dynamic one. You see him changing slightly in every episode. Who knows? Maybe Reese will buy him a razor. And I like the affair. Women are not as shallow as men. Tidwell cares about Reese and she can trust him. He's smart and funny. Some women actually find that sexy. Yes, he needs a new suit and a shave. But he thinks she's a goddess and for as low as she feels about herself, that's exactly what she needs.

Dinner table scene-- funny as hell.

Lewis....... Damn he's hot. Can they somehow find a reason for him to wear less clothing in an episode? PLEASE PLEASE! PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good job again and with that opening song. WHo ever does the music is the one that helps the show... its like a 2008 Miami Vice. Great actors who are A+.

I do agree with people that it went a little fast as far as the affair between Dani and Tidwell - there was practically no suspense at all - you like to see a little more flirting but oh well, done deal now!!

I agree with eponine1971 - Rachel being a teenager coupled with Crew's communication style and her non-existent one is going to a challenge I'm looking forward to seeing played out. It is so interesting to see how attached she is to him already - how he copes is going to be fun.

The dinner table is definitely new and a direct result of Rachel's conversation a couple of eps ago - when he decided with her at the end of the ep that she was right - it isn't clutter - it's just a dining table!! thanks for replying, K

This episode was very good. With the "kidnapping", the conspiracy hunt seems to be back in high gear, thank goodness. Tidwell & Dani, idk. But, they kinda click together and the scene where Charlie picked up the phone was hilarious! But, I agree with others here that the man needs a serious shave. I can't see Dani being okay w/ the scruff...ouch!

I'm glad Charlie finally got a table, too! LOL.

A lot happened last night, this episode rocked. I'm happy the ratings got a boost and the episode was so great...maybe the numbers will keep going up and I won't have to worry about Life...that would be so cool.

Damian Lewis is the Man.

Red Shirt as in Star Trek...i.e., someone relatively unimportant that you can kill to ratchet up the stakes in an episode without having any lasting consequences. If you've seen "Galaxy Quest" the character of Guy "WHAT'S MY LAST NAME?" who believes he's going to die at any given moment is the epitome of a Red Shirt.

Blackfel, thanks for cluing me in.

And it depends by what you mean "put up with it". I still believe in the begins-quickly, ends-quickly theory. I could be totally wrong, but whatever. It keeps me happy for now.

Thing is, while I like Tidwell's character, I'd rather he was with someone else.

And is he still married? I know he made a joke at the beginning of the season about his wife not finding out about his girlfriend, but I don't remember seeing a wedding band or anything, and I'm assuming it would come up in conversation between Reese and him. A married man who actively dates just makes him more of a skeeze in my book, if that is indeed the case.

Whomever came up with the idea of Reese hooking up with Captain Kevin Tidwell should be FIRED, MUTILATED and then SHOT several times in the head until the only thing left is a bunch of bones and flesh!!!

Does that start to give you an impression of how I feel about this idiotic decision? good because if it doesn't I can rant for another HOUR as to how incredibly stupid this decision was. Enough said.

too funny!

i think this relationship b/w dani and tidwell is right up her alley. former addict, seeks thrills through unattached/detached sex...now, having an affair w/ her superior. that is a big NO NO for cops. i think that is the turn on for dani. but, i could be wrong. she was humming in the car and seems happy, which is good thing, right? i just don't know @ them right now, but tidwell was funny when he was jealous over charlie being in the hotel room. i certainly don't hate this turn of events, but i was caught off guard. i'm gonna let it ride and see where the writers take us. hopefully, there won't be any strikes to interrupt them.

I believe this was addressed at the beginning of the show, Crews was talking with that rich man at his place, when he told him sorry about that, you really think I only have one car and one driver, he said his men are trained to do what they have to do to save him, so he did apologize to him and explain, it was real brief, kind of a hit and miss on the topic.

"he has a shipment of guns and he is going to convert them."

"From semi-automatic to automatic?"

"No...to Judism. Can you Believe it?"

Tidwell obviously still miffed and Dani/Charlie in hotel room.

Too funny. I am quick but would never have been able to make that leap.

Hah - I didn't get that at first but you're right.
I guess Charlie isn't the only passive-aggressive around. smile.gif

I think many of us would feel better about Tidwell if he got more to do on-screen. He has possibilities
and we just aren't being shown them. I don't mean the hair - though it's improving - I'm talking about
his motivations. He's more than a player because he tried to win Dani's friendship and he's trying to
listen to her but man, what else is going on under that hair? Donal Logue is a good actor - I'm sure
he's up to whatever they hand him. I remember being fascinated by the way he and Robin Weigert
tried to play the weeping, soon-to-be-ex-detective with the gun (Harry? Henry?).
