Gre was interviewed today on Keven And Bean on KROQ radio station (can download a podcast www.kroq.com) and he says there will be a big reveal later in the season about Daphne and why she has the powers she "was given: --SYNTHETIC?
He also says Matt will "go dark" this season and he thinks that we'll love the reason why.

I think you have "Six Months Ago" and "Five Years Gone" mixed up.

I sure hope it's not because of something happening to Daphne. First of all, I really like Daphne, because she's the only new villain this season that's got real depth to her, and second, that is an overused, cliched way to have a character "go dark".
