I just have one question, if anyone wants to answer. I grew up in the 80’s, and back then even if a show didnt make it, the producers at least gave it a year. Sometimes it actually paid off, and shows that might have been in trouble even made it 3 or 4 years. I guess what I am asking, is does anyone know why these networks are so quick to pull a show these days. I mean if a show does not perform right away these days, they do not waist any time. NBC is the worst, but they all are pretty guilty about it. Which makes me think of somethingelse. Why are most people just not interested in the shows that come out on NBC these days. I mean it seems as though their shows always start off good, but fizzle. Could someone please enlighten me on these issues, it would be really appreciated.

I'm so frustrated NBC is cancelling this show. I hope they show all 13 episodes. It has a lot of potential and at least makes sense compared to the falling Heroes. I think NBC needs to realize the long-term potential and at least give it a full season to catch on . I've finally started watching Network TV again, but if they keep cancelling all the shows I won't keep watching new ones. Why invest my time in shows that are just going to get cancelled. Please give My Own Worst Enemy a reprieve.
I agree! I'm so disappointed. My coworkers and I always talk about how great the show is on Tuesday mornings. I love Christian Slater! Why can't NBC at least finish the season and give people time to catch on? It's a really, really great show. Too bad

Why would a show be canceled so soon! NBC hasn't even given it a chance and the time slot is horrible. The only way I can watch it is on Hulu, but I do as soon as it is available. In fact I rarely watch any television on the actual television anymore. I think it is time for the networks to wake up and realize the old ways of judging the success of a show are over. People are now tuning in on the internet and through DVR and just because a show isn't being watched at the exact moment the network schedules it for does not mean it is not being watched. Join the new millennium and look at the true demographics rather then the Nielson ratings from the dinosaur age.

With so many viewers using tivo, replay, uverse, and other dvrs; many of us do not even know about the new shows until they have been out for several episodes (we skip all the commercials

) It is getting quite common for my family to find shows we like just before or just after they were canceled.
I just realized in this discussion that the next episode of journeyman that I have been waiting for has been canceled.
The networks need to give shows more time to develop a story and a following. After four episodes, I had just set my DVR to record MOWE...now it is gone. Come on guys...give it season and some reruns before you cancel it for good.
Maybe you could look into a commercial driven or pay per view web audience.
Look into some different marketing strategies...
1) Perhaps you can generate a following on the web, and if it shows well there...then move it to network.
2) How about show a season on TV, and if there are enough subscriptions, sell it on Itunes for season 2 and beyond…you could get more streams of revenue
I'm sure many would agree that it is becoming less appealing to commit to watching a new series if it gets cut short so fast.

And another great show gets the axe. Black Donnelys comes to mind, another show that I started watching and was absolutly blown away with, watched every week religously.
MOWE had everything to make a show great, and I thought it was one of the best on TV. NBC It's been fun but I think we need to part our ways, you take too much from this relationship and give nothing in return. Adios my old friend, we're done..

I signed on to the NBC network for the sole purpose of expressing my displeasure at the cancellation of this show. It's really good. Please NBC reconsider. In my area (Austin. TX) we had a few weeks where we lost NBC on cable due to a dispute between the local NBC affiliate and the cable company. During that time I actually logged in to NBC.com just so I could watch this show.

NBC,
Pay attention to what we are saying. You don't exactly have a great lineup of shows right now. Do not take away one of the only new and fantastic shows.
This show employs very clever writing and brilliant acting by Slater.
GIVE THIS SHOW A CHANCE TO DEVELOP A LARGER FOLLOWING!

This show is an amazing, Emmy "worthy" show. Christian Slater's talent cannot be denied. I hope it is not cancelled, but 'do they listen' to the viewers? I hope so. Note to executives: Give this show a chance, please. Christian, if you read this I can only say one thing in reference to the acting...."Wow!" Also, "Wow, you look great. You look EXACTLY like you did in the early 90s." I kept telling my husband, "He hasn't aged a bit!"

I can't believe that this show is cancelled. The only night on tv that I know what I am going to watch is completely messed up. Chuck is okay, heroes just gets more and more convaluted. In fact I am only tolerating heroes at this point because My Own Worse Enemy follows. This show is intelligent (think anti Earl) and interesting and I actually can't figure out the plot in the first 5 seconds. Please don't cancel my favorite new show.

TV isn't the same anymore. Networks would rather dump a show than put any effort into it. I remember moving shows like Fraiser around to different nights and times, until they worked. Why not put it on Tuesdays @ 9pm and make Biggest Loser 1hr instead of 2hrs. or Wednesdays @ 10 and sell Lipstick to the CW(where it belongs/after Stylista) You could actually show new programing on a Saturday, or let it become a Bravo series. What ever you do stop killing good scripted TV. We don't need anymore game shows, dancing shows, weight loss, singing, house building.....And leave Robin Hoods half-brother alone!! Slater if you didn't get that.

I agree! Anytime a show is halfway decent, it is cancelled! My friends and I always commiserate about it. We're disgusted with NBC for cancelling "My Own Worst Enemy". Christian Slater is a powerful actor, and I thought he would at least get an Emmy nod. NBC needs to get rid of the low mentality reality shows and wake up. I'll turn off the TV before watching them. I don't care about "Lipstick Jungle". "Life", "Worst Enemy", and "Earl" make NBC rock. Wake up NBC, smartly written shows are a good thing! No more mindless b.s.!

"""BOMBARD THEM"""" with letters and calls. (The trick is also being respectful or they wont listen)
Online Petitions are fine but NBC does not have to read them, They do however have to accept mail.
I know the addrresses of NBC execs are listed in the pinned post above, and probably here on the shows site, as well as viewer comment lines.. But it will take more then a handful of us,It will take ALL of us and more, we need to ask people we know to write, or atleast sign a card of support for the show, and mail them in ASAP!

Unbelievable to cancel this well written, thinking persons' action show. MOWE is one of the best in a long time. Journeyman never really got a chance to develop, either, what with last year's writers' strike. No wonder your ratings are in the dumper, NBC; you eliminate all that's worth watching and keep drivel like Knight Rider, Kath & Kim, and CRUSOE!!! Give me a break. Not to mention, letting Jay Leno "retire" next spring. You'll be lucky to have 3 viewers to any of you shows!
I agree, Especially it went up against TWO highly polular Drama's, CSI and Boston Legal. Along with competing with the Football fever, and All the Election Drama, It simply didnt ave a chance.
I think It says a great deal considering it developed a strong fan base in simply 4 shows.
That says alot.
Surely they could have found a better place for it.
We the viewers need to send waves of cards and letters of protest to NBC, Also we need t over flow the comment lines.. These tactics CAN Work.

I can not believe NBC is cancelling this show!!! I think it's one of the best new shows out there and I was suprised to hear the rating were so poor.
Its not a perfect show but I love the premise, I think its really unique and the story line could develop into a more and more fascinating series in time. I don't understand what goes through the minds of the program directors. They never give the really good shows a chance to flower and develop.
I agree with others who say "NBC is its own worst enemy"......they constantly sabatouge their programs by putting them in terrible time slots or delaying the start of them.
I'm wondering when will "Medium" return??? Will they kill it with a late return to the lineup or put it in a lousy time slot like they did to the show "Crossing Jordan" a few years ago? They must understand that people develop their viewing habits for the season and its a risk to hold shows back. I hope there is still some hope for this show. I think "Lipstick Jungle" is also a good show.

There is a long list of shows that I have grown attached to and then someone over at NBC decides to cancel it.. why bother watching a new show when it is possible that it will only have the life of half a season?... Studio 60 was a show that had great promise..then canceled... I came home, stopped taking calls just for that show. After it was cancelled, well, I kinda stopped watching NBC after that... it wasn't all out of protest. I found my way back with the show Chuck. I grew to like Chuck so I watched it when I was home... I had already fallen in love with Heroes with their first season, but then I lost hope in Heroes when I felt it lost its nucleus this season, so I recently stopped watching that...but then I would turn back the channel at 10PM to see one of NBC's new shows. I gave My Own Worst Enemy a chance if only to see if they found something to redeem themselves from removing my favorite show off the air.. it wasn't as good, but I started to enjoy it. Then, what do you know? They put the word out that they are removing the show. NBC... whomever is in charge of programming needs to figure out if they only want to keep viewers for one season or destroy major network viewing altogether. CBS and ABC at least stick to programming long enough to see what really works with viewers. It looks like Dancing with the Stars gets my vote for Monday programming...sorry Chuck! I am so glad that I get HBO, Showtime!! I can't wait until their original series season returns so I can spend Monday at 10 PM watching Weeds!

I had stopped watching this network years ago. Last year, they brought in some shows that looked very promising. The only one left is LIFE. I love that show. During that one and only slot, I saw promos for My Own Worst Enemy. I gave it a chance, and loved it. It has unlimited potential. I should have known that they'd cancel it. There must be some sort of self-destruct button in this network. As soon as they start doing well, they screw it up. Don't they make a medication for that yet? TV sucks enough with all the reality shows that NOBODY likes. I have yet to meet anyone who does watch these shows, other than idol. What ever. I'll go back to boycotting this station. I do lack self control, so will probably watch LIFE on line, but that's it. I'd rather put on a foreign TV station, in a language I don't know, or pop inn a dvd.

Just like "Foto-Mat"s gave way to Digital Cameras and decent printers, like horse-drawn carraiges gave way to cars... like internal-combustion (only) cars to hybrids...so should Neilsen give way to Tivo's "Season Pass" Info... Neilsen's is an antiquated method and unit of measure... Additionally, hardly anyone watches T.V. realtime anymore.
NBC, I'd say get with it, or go the way of the dinosaurs.
MOWE has the makings of a cult classic to start with, and could have the staying power to run a full five seasons if allowed to get there...
on an off note, I pay $236 / month to my cable provider for every channel they offer. that's just TV, no phone or internet. the 5 dual tuner wi-fi enabled HD Tivo's in my house have an array of over 300 channels to choose from, but on any given Monday I have at least 2 recording MOWE (in-case 1 doesn't record it properly, I can transfer it from the backup). What's that tell you? Well other than the fact that I'm anally-retentive...

If the target audience is men, then why would they put this show on Mondays to compete against Monday Night Football??? That's like holding your head under water and expecting that you'll grow gills before you die. Not likely to happen! Few guys are going to turn away from MNF to watch regular TV unless they don't like football. (Statistically more men like football than not.) This is one of the few shows that my fiance will watch with me. (We have to record it and watch it later.) We're both totally sick of all of the crime dramas and are looking for something new. This fit the bill. Please NBC, consider moving it to another time slot that doesn't compete for testosterone with MNF before you decide to scrap it!

I have to say, when NBC does stupid things drops shows like MOWE, Journeyman, and Studio 60....
NBC is NBC's Own Worst Enemy.... they just don't realize it...
NBC, I promise you, you can only kick people in the teeth so many times before they'll stop coming back for more...
Stupid me... I keep getting sucked back in. After you drop good shows, I go away and don't watch any other NBC show... then I hear about and I see promise in another, thinking that when you send Christian Slater around on a promotional campaign to Howard Stern, "Inside the actor's Studio", and the like that you might actually stand behind the show... Stupid Me....
At present, the only show I watch on NBC is MOWE... without it, you've lost me... I suppose I'll have to go back to the idea that NBC only caters to the lowest common denominator with Dumbed-down shows...
If you don't want it... don't abort it while still in it's fetal state, let it be adopted by another network...
