It's been a while since we last saw TGS behind-the-scenes stuff and the writers' room, so I'm really looking forward to this episode! But wait... does this mean that after the Christmas episode, we won't be getting a new one 'til 2009? sad.gif

Traditionally most networks offer re-broadcasts over the holidays because so many people are busy and ratings are much lower. I would guess we won't see new episodes until mid January, but, that's simply a guess on my part as I haven't seen anything definite yet.

Hello there,

My wife and I are huge fans of the show. In the latest episode, "Christmas Special", we noticed that in the scene when Tina, Tracy and Jack go back to the apartment where they find the two kids who sent the letter to "Santa", there is a Mola (a colorful tapestry) from Panama in the background. Can anyone explain as to the significance of that? Just wondering.

Happy Holidays!

l don't see any specific significance in the mola prop here. Remember on the SNL episode with Sarah Palin everybody wondered why a llama was standing behind and it didn't mean anything more than adding absurdity to the scene.

l want to stress out what TVbythenumbers did but l don't know where to post, l ll put it there:
They made the list of the (rare) shows who gained audience this season over 2007: 30 Rock gained the most with 1.3 M viewers (who are still watching so far).

Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels made this year TV's smartest move by turning Sarah Palin's gigantic media attention into positive PR for NBC.

Lemon out!

OK, I love this show, but really... It's supposed to be sweet and sacrificial for a mother to "put out" (IOW, basically prostitute herself) in front of her children on Christmas Eve so they can get toys? Gag me. To use the words of Tina Fey on stripping, I think "we should all be a bit better than that."

To Iluv30Rock, 30 Rock is not to be appropriate or politicaly correct, it's a comedy. There is plenty to enjoy in every episode.

l personaly loved the combo with The Office episode about a Moroccan Christmas party intervention for Meredith the alcoholic, who outraged some people too.

Chamomille - If I were looking for something "appropriate" or "politically correct," I certainly wouldn't be watching a show created by Tina Fey! smile.gif For the most part, I adore this show. (And The Office is great too!) IMHO, there was a difference with this FAO Schwarz bit and their usual edginess - and it's satire. The smart writers of this show normally do that with flying colors. Take MILF Island for instance. Perhgaps my favorite episode! On the surface, that content is beyond inappropriate. But the genius of it is that the writers of 30 Rock were using the insanity of the whole thing to satirize our culture and get us to think. If the FAO Schwarz thing was meant to be satirical, I was too dense to pick up on it. It seemed instead like and awkward and disgusting attempt to be touching - what with Jack, with Liz's help, deciding his mother actually did care for him through her "putting out."

What a great Christmas gift smile.gif The "White Christmas" line had me laughing so hard I missed the rest of the exchange between Jack and Hornberger. And I love that Colleen was reading "Urban Fervor" by Kevin Grisham! Didn't catch that one myself but other quick-eyed fans in other forums caught it. The visual gag of the witness stand prop was a gem. Plus, this episode had one of the rare times that Jenna's singing didn't make me cringe (although, hi there Mr. Richmond, it did gross out the pianist).

I actually teared up at the end... the last time 30 Rock gave me the warm and fuzzies was the voicemail scene at the end of Cooter. I love how this show is the easily the funniest on TV and manages tenderness every once in while.

Bummed we won't get a new episode 'til January, but this was a great send off for the year. Thanks to Tina, the cast, and crew, and a Merry Christmas to all smile.gif
