LET IT SNOW
12-04-2008 10:00PM

SNOWED IN—Neela (Parminder Nagra) has to testify in court after she treated a patient that bled out and died. Alex (Dominic Janes) and Sarah (Chloe Greenfield) go to a party against Sam’s (Linda Cardellini) will and get into a terrible car accident. Meanwhile, Morris (Scott Grimes) and Banfield (Angela Bassett) get snowed in and stuck at an ER conference in Nebraska. John Stamos and David Lyons also star.

Show Cast: Linda Cardellini, John Stamos, Scott Grimes, David Lyons, Angela Bassett, Parminder Nagra

Perhaps Neela's fight to keep her career is going to finally make her wake up and know she has to go after Ray, The previews showed that she gets put in her place. I feel bad for Sam, I couldnt imagine how I'd feel if a kid of my own was hurt, banfield and morris are interesting, I'll enjoy seeing them
curiousmonkey721
looks like sam will finally be given an interesting storyline that will let linda show her talent because lately sam's story has been really boring
Pixi_Star
With Neela possibly loosing her license to practice medicine, they need to have her really assess whats important and what she has to get off her high horse and fight for something whether it be her career or even with ray. They keep drawing out that storyline and getting everyones hopes up. She needs to fight for whats hers and honestly it all comes back to what ray said about how hes in a good place right now and she seems to be too while shes really not because honestly shes alone, lives for work and is miserable without him and taking it out on her intern.

Sam's story has ALWAYS been boring. laugh.gif Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Linda Cardelini. I sincerely do. I think she's a fantastic actress. I just hate her character. (Samka..don't get me started. ) She's had some very amusing moments...but as a whole, she's too sanctimonious for me (her whole "holier than thou" attitude over Abby's drinking last season just KILLED me. rolleyes.gif Seriously...because SHE has never screwed up? I seem to recall Luka having to cover for her a few times during their relationship because she'd done something out of her scope of practice...because she felt she HAD to. Oy.)

As for Neela? *sigh* I sincerely hope something knocks some sense into that girl. She's gotten just as snotty as Sam, and I don't like it. I LOVED Dubenko knocking her down a peg a few weeks ago, and I hope that's a start on the road to redemption. So to speak. tongue.gif
Dianakeys
Dubenko knocking Neela down a peg a few weeks ago. He's a good advicer...only this or
Dubenko for Neela's stepfather right? blink.gif

Cause he is too old for her!
Trainerjen
I didn't say he wasn't. I simply pointed out that she was kind of up on a "high horse" over the way she was treating her student, and when Dubenko came in and made his little speech, it kind of made Neela think about the way she was when she was a student.

That wasn't at ALL a bid for a Dubenko/Neela pairing.

Wow! Talk about a cliffhanger! I hope Alex pulls through. And I feel terrible for Sam. I haven't seen that much emotion from her in a very long time. And Tony really needs to sharpen his parenting skills. Sam had every right to be upset.

Woah! I'm really liking this new side to Banfield. Who knew she had it in her. Leave it to Morris to bring out someone's wild side.tongue.gif I was also surprised that she has a sense of humor. She definitely has a vulnerability about her that she tries to hide so desperately. Morris definitely brings the best out of her. Hearing that she had a miscarriage just adds to the pain of her losing her son.

I was expecting to see more of Neela's lawsuit case. The beginning started off very powerful, but then her storyline was totally put into the background after that. I think she and Brenner make for good friends, even though he's still kinda flirtatious with her. I think they will continue to add to the tension between these two in order to give the illusion that something will happen. It reminds me of Carol and Luka in season 6 when Doug was gone.

I also like how they have added Chazz in the mix of characters as well. I can see why he had so much problems telling the little kid that his sister died. It must have brought back memories of Greg. sad.gif I'm still confused about how he could be in the ER during his first year of med school though.

I can' t believe the over-the-top jump the shark Alex story line is acceptable. It's getting so that I'm going to stop watching ER before it's even over. Seriously, after 15 years I've had to literally make an account to log in to say STOP IT MORONS. You're ruining the show so that I won't even miss it when it's gone! I've watched it since it began (seriously, LA Law went off the air and ER started - I watched LA Law thursdays at 10pm - ergo, nothing else was on and I LOVED George Clooney since Facts of Life (yeah, I'm that old) and Roseanne so I watched) and now I'm sick of the crap. The Ray storyline of last year was bad enough, now Alex? Gimme a break. Clean it up, make it nice and stop screwing with me. If you don't mess it up, maybe Clooney will make a cameo - he's a class act, he proved it with the Hathaway storyline.
Trainerjen
Well, if he had been taking classes while doing the Paramedic thing, that could make sense. He's only doing Observation hours...not actually a "med student" yet. So I can buy it. wink.gif

Loved, loved, LOVED the Banfield/Morris scenes. tongue.gif Morris is just rockin' man. I freaking LOVE that guy. laugh.gif "Dr. Morris?" "Yes?" "Tonight never happened." laugh.gif Good stuff man.

*sigh* The Alex story WAS rather heartbreaking...and I completely see where Sam is coming from. For now. I hope once she calms down, she'll take a little of the blame OFF Tony though. He's still feeling his way with the whole "parent" thing, and of course two teenagers are going to wear him down. Somehow...I see her putting every little teeny tiny iota of blame ON Tony though. *sigh* I wish I could like her. I really do. tongue.gif

Neela's story made me giggle a little. TNT is airing season 11 right now, and it wasn't so long ago that NEELA was the intern who was always screwing up...well, not really screwing up, but getting reamed out by her attendings. It's kind of funny that now the tables have turned. It does suck that she's being sued and the interns are treating her like crap though. I mean really. She's taking the heat for a mistake one of THEM made.

I'm actually kind of liking this crew of interns. Too bad we won't see them develop as we did with the rest.

ETA: natwan2, I actually enjoyed this episode more than any of the last three (excepting "Heal Thyself"...LOVED that one). I didn't think that the thing with Alex is a "jump the shark" kind of deal...especially since the show is DEFINITELY ending...it wasn't a calculated move to bump ratings...I kind of thought it was a way to bring one of the characters who's been on the show (Sam) the longest to the forefront and explore her a little more. And here's hoping that she'll get over her sanctimonious streak while they're at it. wink.gif

I have to stay I agree with some of what several have said tonight. I think more on the Neela case would've been interesting (though there's probably more to come), and I am getting sick of these completely depressing stories. ER does depressing really well, which both makes it good and sometimes hard to keep watching. I think Alex will pull through. How can he not, after all of the bad stuff that's already gone down?!!!! It is close to Christmas, we have to have some Hallmark moments coming up...Brenner stay away!...(he's pretty cute though, would be tempting....I'm such a tease...)
Dianakeys
In my opinion the episode last night was a little boring!
Morris was the BEST character again! Loved Banfield/Morris scenes!
I like the scenes Sam/Gates, but I expected more...
Neela is going through bad times. I felt pity of her almost the entire episode. But I can not bear that last scene between her and Brenner in the elevator
If she go back to sleep with Brenner again , ER ends for me.
Neela has been losing many fans because of her bad choices on Gates and Brenner. She also won more hatred against her when she made sex with Brenner. If a Neela re-commit this mistake again , many fans not wait for ER finale.
I know that Neela is living bad moments, but that is no excuse for her to make more mistakes. Three years are more than enough. It's time for Neela learn something and go near Ray.
Many fans still remain faithful to ER, waiting for the Happy ending Neela/ Ray.
It would be catastrophic for the issue to the Show in other countries where ER is transmitted, since the Roomies are loved for almost worldwide.

Actually, he is a first year med student; that has already been established a few episodes back in "Oh Brother". Also, he and Greg were suppose to celebrate him getting into med school on the season finale last season. He said that he only does observations on Friday nights. This is the first time in ER's history that they have had a first year in the ER. The earliest year any med student has been in the ER before this is 3rd year. That's where the confusion comes in for me. From what I've heard, that's not suppose to happen the first 2 years of med school. I'm not a doctor so I don't know if that's a fact or not however.

Ah...Okay, I see what you're saying G-Unit. And yes, that's true. It's not until third year that med students see any rotations. But they DO do observations hours. So I'm not sure if that's a writer slip up or what. :dunno:

What I meant by saying "med-student" was that he shouldn't be doing rotations yet. Obviously he's in medical school. wink.gif

Just wanted to clear that up. smile.gif

As a life-long resident of Nebraska and a 20-year resident of Omaha, I would like to point out that NO native Nebraskan speaks with the Southern-style accents like that of the bartender and waitress in last night's episode. I guess it's not enough that ER had to poke fun at our stupid (and since repealed) "Safe Haven for 18 year-olds" Law) a couple episodes back but now they think we all speak in Southern drawl? How about coming to Omaha sometime, ER writers/producers/directors?! You really don't encounter so much as a TOUCH of Southern drawl until you get to St. Joseph, Missouri... blink.gif

That said, I take it the Alex story-line was a cliffhanger? He did not die last night in this episode? I ask because just as they were about to cut open his chest my husband came into the bedroom, thought I was asleep and TURNED OFF THE TV. mad.gif By the time he MOVED out of the way and I got the TV turned back on, it was "fade to black" time... ohmy.gif

Yes-- I almost missed this the first time, as well, due to distractions. At the end it almost appears that Alex has died, but he hasn't,though obviously his condition made a turn for the worse. Then, in the previews for next week, they show Sam in a church praying. In my opinion, they just can't let him die. There's been just about enough depressing tragedies on the show of late.

I am loving this season so far!

This episode was a little bit of a emotional rollercoaster for me in a way because you had the funny moments with Morris/Banfield (LOL!), and the sad, and heartbreaking moments with Alex/Sam/Tony/Sarah. I felt soo bad for Sam. She had every right to be mad at Tony, even though I think he is still learning how to be a good parent, but like Sam said to him at the end, "Everybody makes mistakes". At the end of the episode where it was just Tony, Sam, and Alex, I thought that everything was going to be ok, I was content, and just enjoying scenes with my favorite couple wub.gif . Then all of the sudden the blood gushes out of the chest tube, alarms blare, and I got soo scared that Alex would die. Tony showed a little bit of emotion watching Sam cry, I mean he played a part in this, and he is partially the reason Alex was in this state. Overall I thought that it was a great episode. Banfield suprised me, but I am getting to like her now. Nothing big with Neela, but I didn't really care. Next week's episode looks really good, I can't wait to see Jerry!!! I hope Alex will pull through...

RSXFN08
I've been watching this show from the start. My then girlfriend got me hooked. Been 15 wonderful years! Even if I don't have the girlfriend anymore. wink.gif

As for this episode? Say goodnight Alex. Once that clot burst....it was Lucy all over again, except Alex didn't actually call it like Lucy did. Although with all his reading at the ER, he probably could have.

Anyways, I'll keep watching.

This is going to be Sam's goodbye most likely...or the next episode. Losing a son is what this episode was sorta about (Banfield's son).

Maybe I'm wrong, but if I needed help, I'd not want that Brenner guy working on me. He's cocky in a "My Uncle's the Chief" kinda way.

Hi, it's been a long time since I've posted, but I'm always reading the threads. Well about first year med student going to the hospital it's ok. I'm a first year med student and I go once a week on observation rounds to the hospital, it's a learning experience to understand the way a hospital works, to learn how to deal with patients on people skills matters and finally to know if you're cut out for this so if you see a big trauma you won't pass out or throw up.
That's what I can say about this, because I haven't seen the episode, unfortunately season 15 hasn't started yet in Latin America sad.gif

This was a great episode. I enjoyed the scenes with Morris and Banfield. It was great that they had a chance to do some bonding since they got off to a rocky start. Banfield rocked the house!
heatherlynn28
i love morris /banfield arch as evolved as a dr /friend over the years to banfield now and abby and especially how close he is to ray .neela deserves the brush off she's getting from the interns right now .she needs to get the stick out of her .ss .she needs ray to come home and set her straight and love her and remind her of the past.and brenner needs to stay away. poor tony [yes i said it ] he's a great dad yet he is struggling and quite frankly alex is the bad influence on tony's sara .b/c sam is not that great a mom always treating him like a baby she's never told him the truth on anything that has ever happened and while it's sad this happened to alex some blame lies at her feet.heather

Nah...I don't see them killing Alex. I can see where you're coming from, but I doubt he'll die. He'll probably hang around in a coma for awhile, but I don't think he's dead.

As for Sam, as far as I've heard, Linda Cardelini isn't leaving the show...well, not until the final episode. She's signed on for the entire season, so I don't see that happening. As happy as it would make me. wink.gif

And HEY! I like Brenner. laugh.gif I think he's a good doctor, he's just misunderstood. tongue.gif

Amen sista. I'm sure that's going to get me blasted...but you know? It's not even SOME of the blame. It's pretty much MOST of the blame. Yes, his dad was a dipwad. But he loved Alex. Let's review Sam's history with her kid shall we? My personal favorite...moving in with Luka. Sam knew DAMN well that Luka had a soft spot for Alex and wanted Alex to see him as a "father figure". But she still had NO qualms about moving in with her "man of the moment". Breaks up with Luka (WITHOUT a discussion with the poor guy) because "They don't want the same things" (re: more kids). Poor Alex gets caught in the middle. Jump forward a few months...Luka is happy with Abby, and blah blah. Steve kidnaps Sam and Alex, and Sam KILLS Steve in FRONT of Alex, and it's never addressed, even when Alex says "I saw what you did". She did her best to cover it up, but yeah. That's BOUND to screw a kid up. Did she ADDRESS this with Alex? No. She ships him off to a boarding school because he's "too much to handle." Well DUH SAM!!! Now she moves him in with ANOTHER boyfriend AND his adopted child. rolleyes.gif

How she can NOT blame herself for ANY of it just SLAYS me. wink.gif Nothing is EVER Sam's fault. Ever. It's ALWAYS on the other person. The words "GET OVER YOURSELF YOU SANCTIMONIOUS B***H" were invented for cases like Sam. tongue.gif And of COURSE it was ALL Tony's fault that Sarah and Alex went to this party. *sigh* She'll never learn, she'll never grow up. It's sad, really.

And I've said before that I think Linda is a FANTASTIC actress, and I'm a big fan of hers. I just hate her character. wink.gif
HuskerCat
I too thought the rush of blood and the arrest meant Alex died....but they called "PEA" which I assume is "Pulmonary Embolisom Arrest"? A PE is not an automatic cause for death (my mother-in-law, who had lung cancer, suffered a PE one night when we were called to the hospital at 3 AM...she lived through that episode and another four months after the cancer claimed her.

I did see the previews of the next episode....that's what convinced me to know that Alex had not died...
yooperbrat03
"PEA" is not a "Pulmonary Embolism Arrest" it is "Pulseless Electrical Activity" and in Alex's case was caused by blood loss. Basically the heart is beating but it has nothing to push through the body.
Ya'll remember when they showed the shot of the chest tube out put gushed blood? It all just means that Alex was bleeding out. And yes, when this happened to Alex he was dead so it is a cliffhanger...

I don't know if Alex is going to live or not. In real life his chances would be nill, but this is television and mircales happen smile.gif

I loved this episode seein Archie and how Banfield just went wild rolling.gif

*Yes, I work in the medical field....

The storylines and the dialogue in this show just keep me hanging on.
It's a newly discovered thing for me, you know T V. I'm just making a general comment.
realcrazyacres
This was a good episode. I like how the characters are changing, growing, healing wounds, etc. I think everything is done for a reason and the finale won't be some thrown together episode like so many are. I will be absolutely mental before the finale in March!

I think Dr. Morris will have to go to Indiana to open that storage bin before it's all over.

I read somewhere, perhaps TVguide mag, a snipet from Linda Cardellini that said she and Tony will go through another round about the dark haired intern (played by Shiri Appleby) but no mention of Sam.
bobsuncorp
I hope Alex doesn't die, just because it would suck and would be unncessary unless they are trying to create a spin off about a Nurse dealing with the loss of her son. Point is they can get more than enough emotional mileage without it, just like they did when Green and Elizabeth almost lost their daughter.

Also from what people said it sounded like Alex acted like kind of a hero: He didn't go to the party without permission. He only drove the car because the girl who would have driven home was drunk and he was sober. He didn't crash the car because he was a bad or irresponsible driver but because someone else caused the accident, and he swerved to avoid hurting anyone. Sam's biggest fear is that she is a bad mother and he will be hurt because she hasn't been a good example or strict enough, but in this case everybody did everything right. It was just a tragic accident.
