SLEEPLESS NIGHTS—MAYA RUDOLPH (NBC’S “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE”) GUEST STARS—
The stress from wedding planning is taking its toll on Kath (Molly Shannon) and giving her insomnia. Phil (John Michael Higgins) suggests that Kath visit his life coach and spiritual advisor Athena Scooberman (guest star Maya Rudolph). Kath agrees and is quickly taken with Athena and her teachings, but Phil soon realizes that his advice may have been a big mistake. Meanwhile, Kim (Selma Blair) must pay her outstanding parking tickets in order to get a boot removed from her car. Instead of paying the price, she asks Craig (Mikey Day) to help her get out of the bind no matter the cost.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST EPISODE THUS FAR!i thought tonight's episode was SOLID and very funny.
i like how molly is playing kath now...making it her own.
molly is much funnier than what they write for her.
selma was great tonight too. i thought the whole cast was funny, including maya rudolph.
i hope they bring her back again.
i think cheri o'teri would be great on this show as well.
make her a crazy neighbor!!
after the first couple of episodes i was really worried about the success of this show...
but now, there is no denying that this show can be HILARIOUS.

the parking meter cop...female version of NICK SWARDSON!!
they should give credit to the extras on the show.
i didn't see that actress listed at all on IMDB or the NBC website for the "Sacrafice" episode.
only maya rudolph.
not fair to the working actors in my opinion.

molly's dream/sleepwalking sequence was the highlight.
between the tricycle, eating and crossing the street behind the tranny street-walkers, and then flooring it in the front lawn...OMG
i'm so grateful for my DVR...i wonder if the networks can tell how many times someone replays a part of a show?
i know i played it back at least 5 times.

As someone who's worked for neary 20 years as an actor, extras are never credited for extra or non-speaking roles. My IMDb listing only has two credited listings in it, and yet I've been in a few shows. Often I haven't been credited for speaking roles. Years ago I was in a comedy sketch show and got to kiss Eric Bana on the cheek, but I wasn't even credited with that! It sux, but you get used to it

are you talking about tv?
because in movies they list a whole lot of people in the credits!!
this girl had as much of a role as MR did. i thought it was odd they didn't credit her. they did on another site though, which is good.
i think it sux too...especially if they are funny.
it's
so not fair...
where you been dgan_fan?
have you caught anymore episodes of K&K?
i can give you an internet link to watch them in your country if you wish.

Yeh, I'm talking film and TV. I've had uncredited appearances in some Australian films and some TV shows, and yet it's only a couple of ABC drama series that's mentioned on my IMDb listing. Bit of a pooh, but anyway

I've been around, but it's summer here now. They've started playing the American K&K late on Monday nights, like about 11.30 pm, as it's the off-ratings period here. I've seen a couple of them, still managing to get through entire episodes without raising a smile. Sorry, the show's just not funny.

Well, the first episode of the American series is almost word for word of the Australian first episode, and in the episodes since, there has been similar themes to the Australian one, with similar scenes. The massive problem has been with the delivery of the characters. The Gay episode was on the other night, and it was so overplayed compared to the similar episode in Australia. Selma Blair has not got a handle of the character and has made Kim so one-dimensional it's verging on unwatchable. And I have to say the rest of the characters aren't far behind. Now, I'm not certain the problem is with the script so much, but if there were different actors or even a different director it may be a better show. Alas the way it is, I tend to agree, Chazee, I can't see it lasting long.
Meanwhile, Gina and Jane have recently announced they've begun preproduction of a fifth series here in Australia, to be screened some time in the new year. Can't wait for it

i had no idea you were an actor as well as a teacher DF.
that makes sense to me now why you are so critical. i'm a
huge movie fan, but i've never desired to be an actress. EVER.
that is odd kind of, because most movie fans of my degree usually have some interest in acting or performing.

Well, my first bachelor degree was a Contemporary Arts one with a double major in Media and Drama, and my second degree, a post grad one, was in Teaching, so I am actually qualified to teach both media and drama at school. I don't do a massive amount of film and TV acting so much any more, not since I started teaching, which was a couple of years ago when I finished my postgrad course. I mostly do theatre and community arts projects now which also includes making documentaries and doing photography, generally I enjoying being active in the arts scene. But yeh, my first degree taught me how to critically analyse film and TV, particularly in the Media part of it, and my brain is naturally geared that way now!

bprd, no I am not comparing this version with the Aussie version.....I have never seen the Aussie version.
The 1st episode had the "hook" for me....and now it is starting to be painful to watch. I am starting to believe it's the script.
The program cannot even generate many viewers/fans to come by and post here.
I know you love the series, but for me, I am starting to loose interest.
Just my opinion.

Hence my big fear of the show. I'm worried that people in America who haven't seen the Australian series and would think that this is indicative of what the Australian series is like and think we're all nuts or something. My big beef is why do American TV producers think it so necessary to make such poor remakes of overseas shows, given how few of them have been successful, when the overseas shows are so good to begin with? I don't understand it. Do American audiences not want to see shows with accents that aren't their own? What Chazee is saying needs to be heard, the show is not capturing audiences, it clearly isn't a success. And I'm worried about what consequence this has for our industry, and especially for Jane and Gina's chances in America from now on, who deserve big success for all the success they've achieved over the last 20 years here. I was hoping for their sake the American show would succeed, but from watching that first episode, sadly, I knew it was going to flop, like all the other remakes American TV producers have made of overseas shows, not just from Australia but predominantly Britain. For every one Office there are about 10 failures. And it's a worry. If networks like NBC aren't careful, they're destroy their own credibility.

Yea...dgen....we do need to learn a little....others on this forum makes me want to watch the Aussie version of Kath and Kim....espically after seeing the Aussie version of The Biggest Loser....I love their version of TBL!! If it's a huge hit there, then why can't we have the same here with K&K
