I had rotator cuff surgery last Nov.The tear was 3" long and I am still in physical therapy for at least 2 more months.I can't do any lifting or strengthening exercises yet.So, I guess about all I can do when I return to the fit club is walk the treadmill and ride the bikes. Are there anymore suggestions for some exercises?

Just do what the doctor says. Gosh if you screw up your shoulder, you could be back in surgery again! Which also means, more months of not working out.

I have learned the hard way never to exercise too soon after an injury. Just be patient.

If the doc says that treadmill and bikes are okay, just do those. Or walk outside if that's okay.

IMO the treadmill would be better than a bike, as it works your whole body as you stand. If you can't use your arms on the bike, you are really only working your legs, and sitting...not burning as many calories.

However, diveristy helps relieve boredom, so doing the bike is good if you are mixing it with the treadmill.

Just heal up!

I never had problems with my back before, if I walk the mall my lower back is killing me the next day. any suggestions?

If I were you, I would ask the doctor to order an MRI for your back. An x-ray won't show all the things that could be going on. I dealt with back pain for years, and finally had an MRI last fall. Lo and behold, I have 4 herniated discs!

Regardless of whether or not you have disc issues, it sounds like you could benefit from some physical therapy. I'd push your doctor-a person should not have pain just from walking in the mall. Something is wrong and you need to find out what it is- and you need relief.

I have been wanting to ask this question of you for some time. Seven years ago I was injured on the job and was put on worker's comp for almost three years. I damaged 4 of the 5 lumbar discs in that accident. Ever since that accident I put on a tremendous amount of weight. I am 5'10" and used to be 245lbs of solid muscle, 36" waist, 50" chest, yada yada yada. Now Im 300lbs+, of what I call "soft" muscle cuz I still do workout, but its all upper body. I've tried going back to my old exercises of doing suspended dips, and inverted push-ups(feet on couch, hands on floor), but it puts a strain on my back, leading to several days of pain. My question is this, is there something I can do to work off this mid-section of mine? That is where all the weight went, between my armpits and my pelvic area. Im a 53 yr old man, so sometimes I feel like I can do this and get back to the way I was, and other times I really feel older than my age and want to give up. I know how to workout, I've been doing so since my freshman year in high school, and I do have a Crossbow(Weider's version of the bowflex). Just tell me what I can do to get rid of this belly.

Since Bob and jillian never post on this forum (at least not that I've seen) - my two cents:

To get rid of the belly, you need to get rid of the fat - in other words, change your diet, eat less and lose the weight.

As to exercise, can you swim or ride a bike? Both are less stressful on backs. See if you can find a water aerobics class. Won't help the waist specifically, but it will help you burn calories.

Having most of your weight around your middle is very unhealthy. It means you are putting additional stress on your heart. At age 53, you really need to act now, before you have a stroke or heart attck.

I'm going to echo what Ginny-O has said. You can do all the ab strengthening exercises you want, but that won't get rid of belly fat. You must lose the belly fat and then your strong ab muscles will become visible.

How to lose the fat? Diet and fat burning exercise. Building muscle will help, of course, as that elevates the metabolism. But there is simply no way to "target" the fat on a specific body part by doing toning exercises on that body part.

There is no ONE diet which you must follow to lose weight, but in general you need to give up fast food completely if you eat it, refined sugar, processed foods in a box, fatty meats, white breads and grains and move to more of a whole food diet (that's fresh vegetables, fruits, and only 100% whole grains in moderation) and very modest servings of lean meats, fish, and poultry. Whether you do the Zone, or the Mediterranean diet, or the Biggest Loser diet, or South Beach, just follow those general principles and you will lose weight if you combine it with daily vigorous exercise.

As a fellow back sufferer, I would caution you against doing anything that causes your back to hurt. It's not worth the risk-as you know, every injury sets your workout routine back by weeks if not longer. I would get a doctor to give you a referral to a physical therapist who can give you some guidance on how to get going with your resistance training so that you avoid injury, or at least try to find a trainer who has experience working with people with back injuries.

The recumbent bicycle, swimming, and low impact training on the treadmill are all good choices for your cardio.

Good luck-I've had back problems for years and I know how difficult it makes it to get in shape.
mom_of_phive
We often see those with weak knees or other injuries find alternative ways to work out. Any ideas for a young mom that has had a lot of kids that now can't run or jump due to a weak bladder from childbirth? I used to be so active...running, dancing etc but can't do any of that w/o embarrassing myself.
chrstyb72
You should talk to your OB about the leaking problem, they would minimally tell you to work on Kegel exercises. Not sure how many children you have, but maybe you have a problem with your pelvic floor b/c of having several children? But it seems like whether thru exercises or some type of surgery your leaking problem should be able to be fixed! Good luck to you!
Moonwind333
I was going to answer this the same way. Please see either your ob/gyn or a urologist about this problem. There are several fixes available that can at least improve it drastically or alleviate it entirely. There are also medications available and the Kegel (?) exercises. But first step is your doctor.
smiles21990
I agree that you should check with your doc again since it sounds like your in serious pain. One thing that might help to relieve the pain is strengthening your abs. Strong abs are a great way to reduce back pain.

Greetings!

My name is Elli, I am a very active 26 yr. old female and a huge fan of biggest loser, watching it every week for tips on how to better improve myself. I have been a volunteer firefighter for 4 1/2 yrs. and carry a pager 24/7 and plan on being a military medic, so fitness is very important to me. Recently I had a training accident which resulted in breaking my inner RH ankle bone and tearing the muscles on the outer side of the same ankle. I was going to the gym faithfully to recover from an injury on my left knee (playing too many sports). I hadn't been able to reach my fitness goal due to my previous injury. I would be truly greatful for any tips on exercises that I can do while I'm off of my feet. I am 5ft 2in and weigh in at 148 lbs ( I had gained 6 lbs. in the first 5 wks. of going to the gym - my food was monitored by a fitness trainer). I have an athletic figure (with a big chest unfortunately sad.gif ) my body gains muscle mass rapidly no matter how high or low the reps and weight I've been told use. I keep on gaining weight during training even though I'm losing in inches. My biggest hurdle is losing the extra inches around the waist. Bob and Jillian you are amazing at what you do and I applaude you for helping those that are serious about making life changes. Any advice from you would help me a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Elli.

Hello everyone,

I'm 26 and have terrible knees. I've had ACL surgery around 10 years ago. I recently re-injured the same knee. Probably another ACL issue. Sadly, I can't go get an MRI to find out because I can't afford it (I work for a small NPO that doesn't provide health coverage). Anyways.

I'll looking for some suggestions for exercises I can do. I have a treadmill at my house but I can't seem to work on it for long without getting some twinges. Obviously with an ACL problem, I have some stability issues. Doing lunges and squats are probably far out of the question. I have a free-standing Everlast bag that I'm hoping to do some upper/cardio with. Is this a good idea?

Anyone else have some suggestions? I'm pretty open to any suggestions because I really don't know where to go from here because the workouts I used to do I can't because of my ACL problems.

Thanks in advance.

Ginny_O
Try bicycling and swimming. Water aerobics. If nothing else, walk across the shallow end of a swimming pool - it's less stress on the knees than on dry land. I'd go to a physical therapist to get some exercises specific to strengthening the knees, even if you can't get to a doctor right now. (But even if you have to pay for it out of pocket, if you're in a lot of pain, I'd get to a doctor anyway.)

I'd really like to get into swimming but that requires somewhat of an extensive monetary investment. I'm embarrassed to admit that I live about a block from my city's Rec Center but I cannot afford a membership currently.

My knee doesn't really affect me outside of doing strenuous activity (ie working out). I've been looking into maybe getting a spin bike / exercise bike so I can do it no matter the weather (I live in Ohio, weather is always an issue ha). I'm half tempted to start doing some beginner yoga in the hopes that it will help alleviate some of the knee pain from working out.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I love swimming for knee problems. But, if you don't have an accessable pool, that kinda defeats the purpose.

I have a thing called a heavy stick. (Lemme go see if I can look it up.. cuz I have no idea what it's really called......) <-- a few minutes of googling "Heavy stick".

O.K.. It's this thing. By The Firm.
http://www.amazon.com/Firm-3-Sculpting-Sti...o/dp/B000PHCYYI

It doesn't put any impact on your knees, and it's great cardio if you use it while you watch TV and pretend to row a kayak. (imagine you are in Maui)

It's also great to use on a fitness ball if you have one. It's harder on the ball *for me* because my balance is lousy. But, I really do like it.
escapethevillage
Also.. for knee pain AVOID Beach Body's slim in 6. It's really hard on the knees.

But, Turbo Jam is pretty easy on the knees.

I have the same kind of thing. The pain sort of starts in the lower left side of my back, radiates around my hip to the front of my leg. Seems to get worse during that time of month. My DR didn't x-ray or anything...just said avoid bending at the waist. This does seem to aggravate it, as does climbing ladders. Both of which I have to do a lot of at my job.
funnyesq
1. Go to a trainer or sports doctor and have them assess your hamstring length and core strength. Lower back pain is typically a result of SHORT hamstrings (can you touch your toes..if not that is ONE sign of short hamstrings) AND poor core/abdominal strength. As you walk you need to hold IN your core to support the back...the hamstrings need to be long as well to aid this support.
Ginny_O
I get the same sort of thing and I walk a lot. Before you walk, do some gentle stretches. During the walk, do more. Afterwards do more. Work on your ab strength. Strengthening your stomach muscles will also strengthen your back. As you get more fit, the back will get much stronger. Don't give up. I find that carrying a pack helps, because it makes me walk more erect.

Trynot - sounds like you have sciatica. There are special stretches for that. Also, if you carry weight around your waist (as you're climbing ladders) that weight may be pressing into the nerves on your hips. A lot of backpackers get that kind of pain. Changing the location of the weight can help stop the pressure.

I can only tell you that you need to be insistant with your Dr. An MRI will help with a diagnosis. Ask therapists and trainers, most have no charge consultations and may offer a suggested course of action. Get a second or third opninon from a Dr. My pain was dehabilitating and therapy and drugs were all the Dr wanted to try. aA different Dr and 9 days later my back was fused. No pain since but it took 5 years and a very very mad spouse to get it done.
BLESS YOU

My mom who is 50 has severe back pain caused by myofascial pain syndrome. She used to work regularly with a physical therapist and still works with chiropractors and massage therapists. She is in great shape, works out regularly, and has been able to control her pain. I don't know your history, but I wonder if a similar treatment plan could help you too. Chiropractic health care is considered an alternative medicine, but don't let the criticisms keep you from trying it. My mom also says that doing yoga helps to control her pain by strengthening her abs and increasing flexibility. I hope you can find a solution to your problem.

1. Exercises will help burn calories consumed and fat on body...to the extent you are NOT consuming more calories than the total you burn. Thus the KEY TO FAT LOSS IS A CALORIC DEFICIT...calories in must be less than calories expended.
2. I can almost guaranty that a male at 5'10" is NOT 245 lbs of muscle...soft or otherwise. And at 300 lbs...a man 5'10" would have a good deal of FAT to lose. So get into that deficit and stay there until your BF% is reasonable for your height/age/sex.

I have low back pain, and I use a fitness orb instead of a desk chair. It's great for strengthening your core, and it really helps my back pain. smile.gif

I also have some pain with walking, so I bought Nordic Walking Poles - they are great and you burn more calories. Win-win. smile.gif

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted some advise. I am on a journey to loose weight. I have been loosing it the healthy weight by working out and eating right. I have lost 24 lbs since last year and 17 since Feb. I would like to loose 80 lbs. I am currently 193. I started out being 210 in Feb. I am 5 feet tall. Well I decided to take up running. Not something I have ever done before. However I have heard it is a really good way to loose weight. I run on a elliptical machine but I dont think that is as affective as actually hitting the pavement type running. Well my gym has a track upstairs and I made a goal for myself that I would like to run a mile. Might be more once I can actually run a mile. Well I started out slow. The track equals 10 laps = 1 mile. Well I started out running 1 lap then I would walk 1 lap. I am now up to running 4 laps, walking 4 laps. This is not all of my cardio workout this is just a goal of mine. Well when I got to 4 laps I hurt myself. It didnt really hurt while I was doing it. But later that night I knew something was up. I iced both of my knees and thought they are just sore. This isnt something I have ever done before. Well this was on Wednesday. By Monday my knees were not any better. I went to the dr. and they have advised I pulled a tendon right under my knee in both knees. I now am not allowed to run. I am currently in physical therapy. I can barely walk. How can I get a good cardio workout in if I cant even walk? I am going to a physical therapist however the pain isnt getting any better. My doctors brilliant advice...take advil. Over the counter advil and go to physical therapy. Im afraid this is going to set me back. Im not sure how to work out. All of my usual exercises have bending in the knees. I dont want to be set back and also gain any of the pounds I have lost. This has been hard work for me. Any suggestions on things I can do, ways to not get frustrated, or ways not to loose motivation. Help. Thanks.
Ginny_O
Does your gym have a pool? How about rowing machines? Talk to your PT and to a trainer at the gym about what you can/should do. Give your knees time to heal. Tendons take a while. But you should be able to get some upper body exercise to make up for the lack of lower body activity.

Running is a good aerobic exercise, but the potential for injury is always there, especially for somebody who is overweight and putting more stress on the joints. I tried running several years ago and decided that, although I enjoy it, I'm not willing to risk further damage to my already arthritic knees. I noticed that I see a lot of old hikers, but not so many old runners. I want to be active in my 80's and walking seems like a better bet, for me at least.

I'm wondering what exactly were you wanting from your doctor. With soft tissue injuries, anti-inflammatories like Advil or Motrin in conjunction with physical therapy would be the usual treatment. You need to allow your knees time to heal before you begin any exercise which could stress them. It's frustrating, I know; I've had to sit out months at a time due to herniated discs in my back. But when you are in the acute stage of an injury, you cannot exercise that body part. You could swim, using strokes which don't require a lot of knee participation, and once you recover, the elliptical is probably your best bet. I've also seen some type of machine at the gym where you sit on a bench and use your arms on a bicycle-type contraption. It was for a morbidly obese man who was too heavy for the treadmills, but it seems like it would be a great option for anyone who can't walk or bear weight. I would think a good PT office would have equipment you could use. I often see kids recovering from ACL tears using the stationary bicycle (after the initial acute phase of their injury and surgery, of course) at my PT's office.

I feel for you as I have been in your shoes before, though not with a knee injury. My doctor told me that I just have to accept that I can never really jog again. Every time I do, a back injury follows within a month or two. You might find yourself in that same situation, or this very well could be a temporary setback which will not be an issue once you lose some more weight. In any case, good luck and try not to get too discouraged. For now, I think swimming would be the best option. As for staying motivated, remind yourself of how hard you have worked to lose weight and commit to yourself that you won't let a temporary setback derail you permanently. I have a picture of myself at my heaviest taped to the wall in my closet, so I see it every day. It is next to a photo of an athletic, slender, happy me taken several years ago. That's good motivation for me!

Im not so sure what I was expecting the dr. to give me honestly. I used to injuries. This is a lot of the reason I am doing this. I have been in chronic pain for the last 7 years due to a bank injury the year I graduated high school. I have tried physical therapy several times. It never works or does anything. It just seems like I am wasting my time. Somehow I dont think I will never get to run again. I like it and enjoy it. I am only 25 years old. I should be able to do that. I have ran on the elliptical machine and it is okay. However going to the gym every day gets boring. Sometimes I just want to go run around the neighborhood. Well I figured to get me started I would start at the gym. Has the shock resistant floor and everything. I have worked with personal trainers at my gym. However they are not the greatest and way too expensive.

My gym does have a gym. I guess I could try that more. I already do laps in the pool. However without moving my legs would be hard. One thing that is hard is my family is not very supportive. They have tried to change their diets somewhat to mine. However I get teased and picked on. I guess they think they are being supportive. Not sure. Really its just heartful. Loosing weight is a constant struggle in itself. However add a non supportive home front and a injiry it just makes it really frustrating.

I have a ongoing struggle with depression. So sometimes motivation for me is the hardest thing. Especially on my down days. Many people say exercise helps this. It has not helped me. I do not take antidepression medication because 1 its not the answer and 2 doesnt work. So this set back just kills me on the inside. I was working out 5-6 days a week before the injury. So this change has definetely been hard. All of my work outs have some sort of cardio in it.

I was able to achieve one of goals. I wanted to get out blood pressure medication. I have officially been given the okay to stop them from the dr.
Jessica_G_Wright
Thanks for the responses. I definetely need all the support I can get right now.
Ginny_O
If you have chronic severe depression, medication may work. It does for many people. Just because you tried one doesn't mean that another might not work better. You should also find counseling. If money is tight, there are clinics with sliding scales. Ignoring depression doesn't make it go away - it just allows the negative thinking to become a habit that is very very hard to break. I know how hard it can be to break free - but you need to do something to change your negtive way of thinking to something more positive.

You are old enough to be responsible for what you put in your mouth. Even if the family teases you, you are the one who decides what you eat. Hopefully you are cooking for yourself too - so that you can totally control your diet. If you can't do much exercise for a while, then your diet becomes even more important. As you lose weight, your family will stop the teasing. You can do this, even without the running. Stay focused on what matters to you - not the things you can't control but the ones you can.

I have been down the road of medication with depression. I have literally tried every one of the market. All it did was make it worse. So thank you for the thought of medication however I have been there down that. I have also been in the hosipital for a severe allergic reaction to a couple of different depression medications. I do not want to go down that road again. It really is not the answer. You know I am a very upbeat and positive person. So changing my mind set truely is not the problem. I have been doing a lot better for the last couple of years since I have stopped taking the medication. Less side effects and less mood swings. I just have a lot of down days...where I feel physically down. I have been through counseling. Its a waste of money... I know my issues and I own them. That is not what causes me to be depressed. Honestly most of the time there is no reason, I just get down. That is what true depression is. Ive learned to work with it. I no longer let it own my life. I used to have a lot of days where I wouldnt get out of bed. Now I still have those days but I force myself to get up and do something. Verses just laying around.

Yes I am responsible for what I put in my mouth. I am aware of this. I am on a very strick diet laid out for me by a dietician. One thing I did when I realized I really wanted to do this. I do not cook dinner. However if my family is having something I cant eat I will cook me something different. Or I will cook my side dishes. Such as a salad or steamed brocolli.

I have lost 24 pounds I must be doing something right. And I do know how to prepare my foods. I have my doctors monitor me while I am on this journey to loose this much weight. I am loosing it the right way.

However with not being able to work out and do cardio & just watch my diet. I already do that. I do not want to maintain. I want to loose.

It still hurts when people pick on you. Yes you have to push past it. However when its people that should be supporting you and they are picking on you, it still makes it hard. My family notices the results I have made however not so much because it has been gradual and they see me every day. People who I see every once in a while are the people who are really noticing. I have been getting a lot of questions at work as to what I am doing. So I know other people notice the weight change in me.

It is frustrating not being able to do the things you once were able to.

I'm a 20 year old female and I am just starting to really begin exercising again. When I was in 8th grade I was in Track&Field and messed up my knee in a shotput incident, unbeknown to doctors for 4 years, I had torn the miniscus in my left knee. So after that painful period of time I had to deal with what I thought was just a "pulled ligament" My cartilage was slowly deteriorating. When i was 16 I went to see a specialist and was told of how bad my knee was and how long it would take to repair, now, 5 years and 7 surgeries later i am FINALLY back to being able to exercise. Within that time period I have gained over 70 pounds and I am EXTREMELY unhealthy.

A few months ago I got a Gym membership and in between college and work I am trying to lost all this weight.

My problem is that I still have some problems with my knee and I can't be on an Elyptical machine PERIOD. The first few motions just kill me! So I walk on the treadmill and after about 20 minutes I get sharp pains and have to stop.

I can work out on the Bike on the other hand without an issue.

So I want to know what I can do to build up that strength in my leg so that I can run on a treadmill for 15 minutes and walk for another 45 at LEAST! I don't know much exercises I can do other then the machines they have, but I wanted to get some advice for what I should do about that?

And I lost my Medicaid card so I can't afford to go to the doctors that could tell me about it, I actually called the doctor who did the surgeries and he said if i pay 250$ down and 75-125$ a week that I will have ONE appt. paid off in a few months! theres NO WAY I can afford that! So basically talking to my doctor is out of the question...

Any advice would be GREATLY appriciated! biggrin.gif

With bad knees, you may not be able to run at all. The force of the impact of running is really hard on joints. However, you can keep on walking and biking. Try stairs. Swim if your gym has a pool. Anything low impact. There are a lot of exercises that are good for strengthening the muscles around the knee. Ask a trainer or do a google on knee exercises and you'll find them.

Regardless of your knee issues you need to get your Medicaid card replaced! What if you got sick with appendicitis or some other illness? I can't imagine it could be all that difficult to get a replacement for a lost card.

biking is suppose to be good for the knees

Why not look into something like exercising in a pool. There are many different exercise programs tailored specifically to do the same exercises in water than healthy people do on land. You can even walk or jog in the pool and use the water as drag to make the workout harder yet the buoyancy of water takes the stress off of your knees. This is something I was going to post about in another thread. Why TBL doesn't use water more often on these candidates like Ron who have injuries that make some exercises on land almost impossible.

I'm a 27 year old female and a little over a year ago I had a Tibia Tubercular Transfer on my left knee. I was 125 pounds before my surgery and now I am 150 pounds. I am looking to loose the extra 25 pounds before the end of August but do not know what exercises I should and should not do. I have a treadmill at my house and ankle weights (I had recieved from therapy after my surgery). Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

My hips have been hurting for over a month. Actually, I would call it the joints at the top of my legs, but my dh says that's my hips. I'm only 37 and I just can't wrap my mind around having a bad hip. I have been working out very hard, several hours a day and the pain started after we went to a indoor water park and I behaved like a child running up the steps to ride the slides over & over & over. So Fun! The ride home was painful though. I keep telling myself "No pain, no gain", bue the thought is nagging at me that it is my body telling me to back off. The thing is I have worked so hard for so long and I'm not getting the results I need. No visible results, little scale and tape measure results. That's when I saw a BL contestant say they work out several times a day. Then Jillian said you could do cardio up to 2 hours at once. So I do up to 2 hours, 2 or sometimes 3 times a day after crunches and weights. I want to push it and break through and lose this fat, but I'm worried I may be hurting myself so that I won't be able to exercise at all and waste all of my efforts, but I don't want to quit either. Can someone please help me know what pain is normal and what is a warning?

Do yourself a favour, and go see your doctor ASAP. I had a similar problem when I started working out regularly, except it was with my knee instead of my hip. It started off as a little bit of soreness, but within a couple of weeks, it was nagging to the point that I had to walk home straight-legged from class the one day to avoid the pain. Pain in muscles is (generally) from the muscles rebuilding themselves stronger - pain in joints is from a problem with the joint. I went to see my doctor, and sure enough, I was suffering from Patellafemoral Syndrome. After a few weeks of physio with daily exercises to fix the imbalance in my leg muscles which was causing the problem, I'm back in the game and exercising with no pain!

The moral of the story is get it checked ASAP, because the sooner you find out what the problem is, the sooner you can work on fixing it, and be back to full strength! smile.gif Maybe it's nothing, but if it isn't, wouldn't you prefer to find out sooner than later?

This could probably be a separate thread, but chiropractic adjustments are highly controversial. There are many horror stories about even previously "healthy" patients suffering severe injuries as a result of adjustments gone wrong. At the very least, anyone considering seeing a chiropractor should do some research first.

Yes- plus and minus with anything. Always check with Dr. and do Research.
Go in for initial exam with a Solid Sports Medicine Chiro and see if it's right for you. Also one that won't soak your insurance
May not be for everyone but I take great gains from it. It's amazingly unnecessary to walk about all out of whack when I can get an adjustment and be back in top form. My chiropractor sets me up -(hardly ever get sick.) When I leave that place I could easily run 10 miles straight out the door.

Check with your own dr and see what's right for you - pros and cons to everything.

Hi all
I need some advise on what to do. I have Hyperglycemia, I burn through my bodies sugar real fast, so when I work out nice and hard I end up getting sick about an half hour after. Now I have been able to lose 50 pound by eating something sugary , Fruit, juice, candy bar, cookies, ect just before I work out. I hate doing this because I am working against myself doing so. If you have ever had your body go low on sugar you would understand why you do not want to repeat it again, so I cope. I am hoping to get rid of this fat of mind and get lower then 323. I also have some protein within the half hour after to help my body. Not good enough for the sugar problem though.
I need advise and I am sure more of us are out there that can use it to. The cookies are a emergency only solution. Where is the trainers when you need them. lol Seriously anyone with solution besides simple sugars?
vbarkley
Welcome, WeMo2. What about seeing a nutritionist? Another thing is that maybe doing some lighter workouts, since harder workouts tend to make you sick. The slower pace may even work to your advantage, since you won't have to intake as many sugary calories.
