METAL HEADS COLLIDE WHEN THE LEAD SINGER OF COVER BAND IS KILLED -- When the lead singer of a heavy metal cover band is suffocated to death, Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis) and Dani Reese (Sarah Shahi) are on the hunt to find the killer. Crews and Reese question the remaining band members and learn that the previous front man had a bone to pick with the now dead singer after he was kicked out of the band. They track down the former front man who seems to have a legitimate alibi and their lead goes cold. The investigation then takes an interesting turn when the detectives stumble across a homeless man who appears to be a groupie. Could this groupie have been responsible for the murder? Meanwhile, Crews learns his father's wedding to Olivia (Christina Hendricks) has been called off.

That was soooooo great..."there are many different kinds of friends" wub.gif ...great Ted line!!!

I also loved the whole Reese/Tidwell scene when he was getting rid of all the alcohol. I think that kind of said a lot about him.

And I'm still chuckling over the whole "doc" nickname that Charlie gave Dani...and the scene when he explained it to Tidwell...the look Dani gives them is priceless!!! Same with the look she gives Crews over the cell phone pic!!!

Uncapping a sharpie will never mean the same thing again rolling.gif

Oh yea and the 80's hair band music throughout the episode...LOVED IT!!!

I'm still trying to figure out where I have seen the actors that played the dentist and the red head. Can anyone help me?

Not sure about the redhead, but the dentist was on Veronica Mars. He played one of her professors during the third season, I believe.

I absolutely loved Tidwell in this episode. His breakup speech with his bottles of alcohol was priceless.

She was the girl that Charlie gave his car to in episode 1.11 "Fill It Up"

Not sure about the redhead,

This officially draws a "what the crap" from me.
She had more screen time and lines than any other role in the episode apart from the recurring cast, and yet no credit. Can someone shed some light on this girl? She was actually pretty darned good. I'd like to figure out why she's so familiar, but thanks to a conspicuous absence from the credits, I have no starting point other than a slight underbite and a distinctive speech manner.

I loved how Ted couldn't keep quiet. He doesn't have much of a poker face. lol

The dentist was also on an epi of "Burn Notice" as a con man. Pretty much the same smarmy character in both. It is nice to see familiar faces from one of my other favorite shows. In Badge Bunny the actor that played the partner/killer had a short run on Burn Notice too as Michael Weston's handler.

Did everyone notice that the new NBC show Southland has Michael Cudlitz\Mark Rawls? I will most likely give it a look.

If the character's name was Patty York, she was played by "Angela Goethals. You can look her up on IMDB.com to see if her picture matches the actress you're talking about. I think it does.

'Papple'. This show is by far and away the best written on TV. Thank god he got his car back, but the paint job, at the end, was hilarious. Still not feeling the Reese/Tidwell relationship but when they all said in unison, the name of his band if he had one, 'The Tidwell's' , it made me crack up. I'm still expecting Constance to show soon and still harbor some sense she's messed up, somhow, in all this. I bet you she's protecting Roman or working as the Legal protection for Agent Varner's protected criminal.

So I just watched Mirrorball and while it was a great episode, two parts bugged me, when they pulled the guns in the dentist office and when they pull it on the construction worker (who they thought was Tyler.) Both times seemed unneeded to me. I mean in the dentist office, where was the guy going to go? And in the construction site, they were not even certain if Tyler was the killer. They just needed a sample. It seemed wrong to me. Am I the only one who noticed?

Good episode, and as I mentioned in another thread it was neat that the blonde brought back the Buick (although I didn't get the impression that the intent was for her to give it back).

I thought it was interesting that Patty (the redhead) stammered and paused a lot when in her everyday clothes, but didn't do those things when costumed as Jude Hayes. She really got into character!

The whole nickname thing--isn't "Dani" already a nickname?

Actually, I think the blonde brought back the Buick with the intention of either trading it for the Maserati or selling it to him outright. It'll be great to see him behind the wheel again. He didn't get rid of it because he didn't want it anymore...he got rid of it because he HAD to. He needed to ditch the car because cops were looking for the driver of a black and white buick as a suspect in Rachel's stabbing.

Sadly, I was hoping for a different result. As much as I like the buick, I would have preferred for Charlie to go back and see the Hispanic mechanics that he bought it from in the first place. That is still one of my favorite scenes in the series so far. Maldito and his evil henchman need to make an another appearance.

Crews: Does it have GPS?
Maldito: You don't want that. The Man track you like a dog with GPS.
Employee: Like a dog.
Crews: Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I don't want that. Man'll track me with that.
Reese: Crews, you are the Man.
Crews: Oh, yes. Yeah, right. I am the Man.

There were always SO many great lines in a LIFE episode -- I keep chuckling to myself just thinking about them.

Looks healthy! Except he's dead. Not that healthy.
And after the After Party, was there an After After Party after the After Party?
Since your credit card was charged, I owe you a song (Look-a-like shows up after Ted tells Crews Sr he loves Olivia) Probably not the best time.
You must be Dr. Sharpie
Where's the Candle in the Wind, pal?
It was hot in Italy. So was prison.

Curious... on a policeman's salary, where did Bobbie get the money to take his wife to Italy while Crews was in prison?

I guess they felt threatened. Afterall, there were all these guys dressed alike in the waiting room. Maybe the detectives felt the look-alikes would help the good doc escape. As for the construction site, the worker did have a hot blow-torch in his hands. I would have been cautious considering they were going to arrest someone they thought might be a killer.

Not necessarily...assuming that they didn't take the children, they could have gotten one of those "week stays" through a church for a couple grand. Just because its Italy, doesn't mean it has to cost a fortune.

Its also possible that his wife works too. People take trips all the time, I assume some of them are even cops. wink.gif

I agree. Crews needs no buick. He's the perfect anachronism, 13 years shifted in time, and yet he is fascinated by today's technology and embraces it. I think he should give the car to Ted. I also agree that Maldito can serve the purpose of The Count of Monte Cristo's "Luigi Vampa," who was a very shrewd smuggler that had great respect for Crews' counterpart in the story-- Dantes himself. I'll save the rest of that opinion for the Dumas thread.

Wow. I absolutely loved everything about this episode!! The rabbit, the 80's rock, Charlie's car, papples, Ted's awkward, fierce declaration of love, Charlie's dad's reaction, the after-after party, Tidwell's "break up" speech with his alcohol, the silly nicknaming thing...and the list goes on. Really, I thought it was one of the best episodes, yet, this season. Still, I don't "feel" Tidwell and Reese. I'd love to see Reese and Crews build up into more of a Mulder/Scully relationship...where we know something's there but it's very slow burning and subtle. That would be cool.
And, I'm telling ya, I do not find myself missing Jennifer (the ex wife) or Connie (the ex lawyer) one bit. This episode, literally, ROCKED! cool.gif

BLADE,

It's a TV show! It always looks cool to draw down on the perp! Thank God that creepy Dentist didn't pull a sharpy on them or Doc Reese would of put a lead filling in the Dentist's forehead!

Did I miss something, or something just does not click here?

Can anyone tell me what happened to those two police officers who were asked to keep any eye on one witness, in the Trapdoor episode, and who later were seen (through a surveillance camera) squatting on the floor of this dungeon, among many other prisoners, in this video on this handheld device Roman carried on him and which Crews was able to turn on by guessing a password. What ever became of that line of the story? How come this Russian mobster was still allowed to go free?

Tidwell wanted to badly know who shot Crews, but what about not finding out where these two officers were and who locked them up?! They had caught Roman red-handed, with that SWAT team behind them, yet nothing is being said about how that story unfolded. Why did Roman tell Crews "You're making a big mistake?", when clearly he must have known where this bunch of people were being held hostage, in some dungeon in an undisclosed location?

Help me understand this! I'm tired of hearing praises for a show that has stopped making sense.

I was under the impression that the 2 police officers were freed at the same time as the rest of the prisoners. When Charlie cracked the password on the handheld device it opened up everything that the handheld could do, including letting them into the "dungeon".

I don't think the dungeon location was undisclosed. I understood that it was located somewhere within the building that housed Roman's club. Hence the "renovations" that closed the club for a few weeks but didn't appear to change anything.

I think it also stands to reason that Roman got arrested. Tidwell was not afraid of going after him or arresting him. Whether the FBI broke him out again (at this time) has not been stated (at least not that I've noticed). Its possible that currently Roman is in prison and that is why Charlie was and will be able to talk to Bodner without worrying about him interrupting.

Of course Roman told Charlie he would be sorry. He thinks he is just all that and a bag of chips. He sees himself as untouchable and because of that he was very angry (and I'm sure insulted) when he was arrested. Re-watch Trapdoor and watch Roman's face when the video comes up - at first he is surprised that there was a "trapdoor" in his system. Then watch his face change when the prisoners appear on the screen, he knew he was screwed by the video and that he was going to get arrested.

He is also the reason that Charlie was shot at the end of the episode. He ordered Bodner to do it in order to send Charlie a message.

I'm sure that if Roman hasn't been released yet, he will be eventually. He is shaping up to be an integral part of the conspiracy against Charlie.

So did I read into the end of the episoide incorrectly. While in his closet staring at his information wall, (they are playing the Whitesnake song) the lyrics of the song make it seem that maybe Charlie is gonna either stop or take a break from trying to solve who framed him. And is that why when he and Ted are sitting on the car waiting for the chic to bring the car....Ted tells him,"I'm proud of you Charlie." or something to that effect.

What are your opinions on how it ended?

87ss
When Charlie's dad stops by the comment about "the apple not falling far from the tree" makes me wonder. It has been brought up before but was his dad a cop? If so...was he involved in the bank deal? One would think Charlie would have that figured out by now but that comment puzzles me.

I'm with you, Blade. Comes across as a little silly. Undermines credibility of scriptwriter. That said, the writing was great for mirrorball compared to the formulaic and hokey crap they dished out this fall! Hope they keep moving in this new direction. Actually, more like return to the originality they presented in the first season.

First of all “Good Episode”. I knew at the beginning when Charlie was looking to give Dani a nickname and she said “ Crew!” and he replies.

“Crews? No not Crews. Your partners name is Crews, I’m Crews…..” I really don’t remember the banter but it was something like that. Had me LOL.

The “ Uncap the Sharpie!” thing had me laughing out loud too. This eps was full of fun and laughable lines.

I do understand Blademaster0182’s feeling that the detectives may have pulled their weapons too quickly in a couple of situations, it felt a little odd to me at first also. But then I thought that in this day and age the first question asked by law enforcement officials of their detectives or policemen (and women) if something goes terribly wrong is “ How did they get the drop on you?!!” So it seems having your weapon out, aimed and ready is better then explaining a gun battle at the end of it all. It’s just the way it works these days.

CinnamonGirl74 - I totally agree with you, the rabbit thing was hilarious and I’m still not feeling the Tidwell/Reese thing. Doesn’t matter, looks as if the writers have made their minds up and have decided to put “odd” couplings together ( Tidwell/Reese, The older Crews & Olivia and maybe even Ted & Olivia, then Charlie and his one nighter with Jennifer ) I guess the only thing I do understand is Charlie and his love affair with cars, although I do like Connie.

I don’t know but this last episode gave me the feeling of this show being like another one I’m watching. Anyone here watching “Dexter”? Charlie turning in on himself ( with the help of his Zen tapes) and trying to make sense out of his life is kinda like that show to me. I’ve only seen the first season of Dexter, my wife has gotten me into that show, but I get the vibe that Charlie talking and making “light” of horrible situations is like what Dexter Morgan does.

Anyway good episode and great entertainment for the LIFERs with the “Mirror Ball” episode.

New to the forums here but I had a question and I couldn't find it anywhere else. Who was the actor that played Al, the homeless guy/undead rocker? This may be a bit out there and completely unfounded but I thought that he sounded remarkably like Quentin Tarantino.
