I know there aren't a lot of Melanie fans, but I have no problem with Mel. I think all she's doing is really trying to stick up for herself, she's trying to show Salem that she can be a good person and that's she's not all about the money and stuff like that. Everyone in Salem thinks she's a bad girl type, but I honestly think it's Stephanie and Phillip trying to make her look bad.

As for Nicole, she's the main problem of the show. They give her more screen time than any other character on the show and it's getting really old. Nicole is annoying. She's the one who is the money grubbing, lying and backstabbing little brat. Not Melanie.

Victor is just trying to tell Salem that Nicole is bad news, so Victor is doing a great thing, I agree with Victor's actions when he hates on Nicole all the time. Victor is just being real and honest. Nicole has lied to everyone she runs into in Salem, she's lied to Brady and EJ many times. If there is anybody on the show that needs to get fired, it needs to be Arianne Zucker. Don't get rid of the vets, get rid of Arianne. Horrible actress, annoying, and not good looking.

I couldn't disagree more. Even though the writing for Ari has been worse that horrible, she has been doing an amazing job. IMO, she is also gorgeous.

I'm not a big Nicole fan, but I would love to be that bad looking As for Melanie and Nicole in comparison, I'll take Nicole's crazy antics any day. Melanie is trouble. She has been since the day she began ....JMO

I love both Nicole and Melanie. A lot of the older (and not so older) actors are so udderly boring and self righteous, it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside seeing wrenches thrown into their annoying lives.

I disagree with this. Out of all the actress aged between 25 to 40, Arianne is the best actress on the show. I think she is better than Nadia AND Alison actually, though I think they are ok. I also happen to think she's pretty.

As for Nicole, I like Nicole better than Sami, but I can admit she's a nutter, hahaha.

And if I had to chose between booting Nicole or Melanie, Melanie can get hit by a bus for all I care.

Personally I think they are both good for the show.

I love Melanie, because she's young and fearless and has shown to be challenging for both EJ and Phillip at a very young age. On that base, gooo Melanie.

Nicole is a character you want to hate and see what's coming to her. She's the villain of the show (since Stephano is now just portrayed as an old grandpa with no agenda). So I want Nicole to get what's hers and go back to where she came from. But for now, she's a good villain.

I think these two characters give flavour to the show. The rest are all boring right now. The Nicole/Melanie storylines are the most exciting, and the reason why I'm watching for now. Well that, and waiting for Ejami.

I will say that there is too much exposure with both Melanie and Nicole.

I was thinking back to the shows when Nicole lost her baby, I don't think anyone could have outdone her acting those 2 days. Like I said, she's not my favorite, but she sure can play her part very well. She's perfect at it. So is Alison. But Melanie has to get a few more acting lessons to reach the "bad" girl...right now she's just annoying. Totally.

I don't like either Nicole or Melanie. I don't think either of them are going anywhere, though, since neither of them are related to all of Salem like so many of the characters.

So far, I'm seeing a mix of opinions on Nicole in this board. Some love her and some hate her. This is a character you either love or hate. That's okay though, we're all entitled to our own opinions as well as I am. I don't like this Nicole character at all but to each their own though. And can't wait for this stupid baby storyline to get over with. They're dragging it on too long.

I must respectfully disagree...I love the character of Nicole, and Ari Zucker is one of the best actresses on Days...if not the best. Who else could actually make someone root for her dastardly plan to work? She has rocked all of her scenes, especially the scenes having to do with losing her child and deciding to replace that child with another.

While I will always be thankful to Melanie for breaking up the debacle that was Stax, she has become like a gnat...something annoying that keeps bothering you and you have to keep swatting at. And her voice is like hearing fingernails on a chalk board.

The problem is the overkill. I HATE seeing Nicole on everyday. I like Nicole in small doses, when she was a snarky drunk. Now she's just horrible. Nothing against the actress, she must be pretty good if she can make me dislike her as much as I do sometimes lol. As for Melanie, it's the same thing. Too much of her!

I totally agree, I'm with you on this one. The writers of Days have been giving Arianne so much screen time ever since she came back. Yet, they are firing other actors on the show left and right, when they deserve more screen time than her.

Ari is not the best in acting of the cast, of course that's my opinion.

Who do I think is the best actors of the cast right now?

It's a tie between Joseph Mascolo (Stefano), Stephen Nichols (Steve Patch), and the guy that plays Victor. Those are the actors more deserving of more screen time. Those three have what it takes to carry the show.

Arianne is hurting the show with these stupid baby storylines and I hope Mr. Corday gives her the boot soon. These awful baby storylines is almost like the Jerry Springer show.

I didn't like Melanie when I watched cause she was/is overexposed,as is Nicole and no affense to Molly,but she is a horrible actress,I'm sure she's a great gal,but its like she went to the Paris Hilton School of acting,course maybe its the way the character is intended to be,ditzy and pathetic.

I've been saying that about the whole show. It's ALL like Jerry Springer. Not only the Nicole baby storyline. Sami has four children with two different fathers both of whom she claims to love, but falling inlove with a third man who was her bodyguard. Now if that's not like Jerry, I don't know what is.

The major problem with both these women and I use that term lightly is that they are desperate.Eau de Desperation never smells good on anyone.If a man doesn't want you,then why lie,cheat,steal and make a fool of yourself.Melanie is worse for me because she's about a bright as road kill.

The reason why they are getting so much air time is due to the SL they are both in.With any luck both SL will wrap up soon and it will go back to being equal time for all.Then again this is DOOL and the writters suck worse then a new h**ker.

Wow I disagree so much I don`t even know where to start. Melanie and Nicole are both annoying but melanie wins the grand prize. Everytime I see Melanie, I just cringe, she has the most annoying facial expressions and moves. She is like a fourth grader that is just learning how to tie her shoes, she is the most annoying person that ever stepped foot in salem. I have nothing against the actrist, but I think she needs to go back to acting school IMO. I am not bashing her, just pointing from the obvious. As far as Nicole, she is irritating too with her pathetic lies, but Arianne is doing a great job. Arianne is very beautiful so I disagree, the character of nicole is not easily understood. Although I cannot stand Melanie or Nicole, I can tolerate Nicole because I love to hate her. Honestly, I like Melanie more than Nicole. I think both have different personalities, so I wouldn't compare them at all. Nicole is a controlling, manipulative woman who can never take "no" for an answer while Melanie does the wrong things which other people try to help Melanie to stick up for her. Big difference between the two.

Things you say about Melanie is an opinion that you are entitled to. I don't see Melanie being the spoiled rotten brat that most people in this board make her out to be at all. Once she arrived in Salem, everybody in Salem started calling her the bad girl and a trouble maker, when I don't really see that at all. They all see that because of her problems with Nick. They all hate her for it that Nick went to prison and they all think it's her fault. That's why everyone on the show thinks she's bad news, when she isn't really. You don't have to agree that Melanie is annoying and spoiled rotten just because the cast on the show see her that way. This is just a TV show and Melanie shouldn't be taken so seriously.

I honestly think, Melanie is more mature and honest than any other cast member. I'll explain in another post soon.

I think we have our own opinions, but I for one can tolerate Nicole, Melanie on the other hand doesn't seem to be able to pull out the acting or talent. I don't like the way Nicole is being written right now but I do like her. BUT....Melanie on the other hand can disappear forever. Who the h*ll does she think she is? She can't play with these corporate giants and I hope one of them puts a hit out on her. But I want her to see it coming so she knows she was way out of her league. I know that's mean but I cannot watch any of her scenes.

Here's why there is nothing wrong with Melanie at all, think about all the good things she's done for people in Salem, even though she may seem like a bad girl type, she's not, she does good things for people....lets see

-Mel allowed Nick to take a bullet for her to save herself from her would be rapist...
-Mel forgave Nick after the abuse he gave her during the Trent Robbins murder trial...
-Mel trying to save her brother Max from getting hurt by Chelsea and Stephanie...
-Mel getting along with Maggie even though Maggie isn't too fond of her...
-Mel feeling sorry for Kate after she heard that she had cancer, shows Mel has good heart...
-Mel decided not to committ suicide by Bo's request during that scene when she was hanging off the building...

I can go on. What to not like about Mel? I don't know what your problem is about her, 'cause I don't see any problems with Mel. Stephanie is starting to realize that 'cause she's starting to stick up for her.

I think those who hate this Melanie character, take her way too seriously. She maybe annoying and obnoxious true, but there's a lot of girls out there that are like that, so what. That's what makes this show entertaining.

If we are going only on acting skills then Ari would stay/win in a heartbeat every time. If we are talking only storyline then both are annoying. Nicole at least her storyline had potential until Higley had to muck it all up but it could still be salvaged if we had a writer who understood how to do that. Melanie's storyline potential died the moment Trent did and she needs to just go away.

Melanie's never lied about anything. Yes, she allowed Nick to take a bullet to save her life, if she didn't want Nick to get shot, she would have save him herself. She would have been dead if she tried to save Nick from the bullet, think about it. Melanie's always been an honest lady from what I've seen. Nicole is the one who is the biggest liar of the entire show, hiding your miscarriage is a stupid a thing for a woman to do, and I think it's insane that people have no problem with Nicole's insanity.

Why was this moved to triangles? Melanie and nicole are not in a triangle together...

But on topic, geeesh u ppl are hard on the young actors! I think molly is playing the selfish little sister persona well, esp for being like 18. And even tho I'm ready for nicole to fall, ari has played the part well, tho I think ali is far prettier and more talented

I agree with that you said about Molly Burnett playing Melanie, she does a good job playing the annoying 18 year old. Pretty much all 18 year old girls are like that in real life, I believe the writers are trying to keep it realistic. As long as people are hating on Mel, the writers are doing a good job. That's the point of the character, I think you're supposed to hate her.

I like Nicole, I think she is beautiful and Arianna is a great actor, that cant be easy because some are so bad at it. As for Mel, she is growing on me, I like the last couple of shows for sure and am curious to see how this will play out with her signing those contracts

I love Mel, the episode where Phillip went to her house to try and convince her he wanted her, was brilliant i have saved it on my DVR. The actress that plays Mel was brilliant in that episode. In addition my husband will watch when she is on because he thinks she is hot. If these characters did not evoke such strong emotions (good and bad) in the shows fans we would not watch the show. I think Nicole is important to the show as well we need our villains in order to make the warm and fussy characters so lovable (and tolerable)
