Guys,

I'm a fan of the original series, I was 8 when it was canceled in 1986, I watched it back then and continued to watch it in syndication/reruns. smile.gif

I am excited about the new series, a little disappointed though that they have not modified the car much. Like the interior, I guess they are going to have some digital gages added in with CGI, and a head up display in the windshield.

I think they should contract Dakota Digital Instruments to have a custom digital dashboard made. For example this is the digital dashboard that Dakota makes to replace a 1967 mustang analog dashboard:

Find out more about the dashboard here

Dakota Digital panel for 1967 Mustang

(the dashboard and instruments are all made in USA btw smile.gif )

I think KITTs dashboard should look more like that. What do you guys think?

Ok, well, on the outside, on hero mode KITT, I think they did a good job. Still, I would paint it ALL black (no stripes) and eliminate Ford Mustang badging. Also it would be better to have a more aerodynamic nose like a 2000 Mustang. Like this

I think they did a good job on the scanner too. smile.gif

As far as the new attack mode, the main thing I don't like about it is the air intakes on the hood. Other than that I actually like it, although I know many will disagree, lol. smile.gif

I liked the old KITT much better. Cars today are too small. KITT was long and streamline and, of course, ALL BLACK!! wub.gif

ahh you want the mustangs when they stop Looking like Mustangs.

I wanted to add a comment; I did like the interior they had on the premier! Great design work was done there. Thought it was tasteful and not over the top... From what I have seen they have changed it for the series, and I'm not a fan… What’s with the 80”s plasma ball? And no driver wants neon lighting in the interior when driving… Bad for vision!

I come from a line of auto designers at Ford and hope that KITT is made to be realistic and tasteful…. Please don’t let me down…

At least its a pony car, the thing I don't like is what they did with the new series KITT. I had only one complaint about the "attack mode" and that was the double wing on the back......jeeeze they could have fixed that one thing and it would have been all good, but now it looks like a reject from the movie TAXI. Who is the designers for the hero cars for this show? they made a huge mistake on this one.....I really hope this is just to throw us off of the real Kitt in order to give us a happy serprise....I'll watch it everyday...but at least FIX KITT!

Oh and using a mustang is great....besides fords footing the bill on this one.......Hmmm That can be a title of an episode! "Footing the bill" yeah ok that was lame rolleyes.gif .....lol
M_M
I'm actually OK with using a newer Mustang even with flat black stripes looks really cool. Now on the flip side the new "Attack" Kitt...what the heck are they doing? What is this the "Fast and the Furious"? the pursuit kitt from the movie looked cool and had attitude...this looks well "Gay" and what's with him transforming into a truck....arrgghhh....C'mon bust into some wall jump some cars...don't become a frigg'n "Autobot"! I hope they remember what they did with that TV show "Viper" they tried the same cheesy crap and it didn't work. Stick with the basics and people will like it!
Khanon
M_M...? Copy/paste? Why??

At any rate, I love all forms of KITT with the exception of Attack Mode. I think it needs some work. I almost thought the supercharger scoop was actually a gremade launcher. wink.gif

Yeah, the rear deck wing needs some work, I think, as well as the front tires/wheels. The back's super slicks works for me. I like the large tub and overhanging slicks. It looks...trick. Shhh Yes, I said it. tongue.gif The fronts? 22's with low-profile tires? Please... Either KITT's a hot muscle car with some bite, or he's a modern day hi-lo rider you see in Oakland... Let's pick one and stick with it, mmkay?

As to using a Ford at all? I'm jazzed to see KITT as a Mustang. Personally, though I loved the original series, I always thought KITT seemed almost too fragile in appearance. Too long and slim. The New Kitt is stout and tough. mmmm tasty.
Khanon
I haven't seen shots of the series version of KITT's interior, but I loved the one in the movie. Original-ish with the HUD and the replaced console for KITT's AI interactive unit.

I'm going to have to look around for an image of this "plasma ball" people keep talking about, but if it's sci-fi future tech, I don't see why people don't like it on that aspect alone...it's not like KITT really exists...yet. heh wink.gif

I(along with what I'll assume to be many people) am actually quite happy that the FOXstang was not used. But it is sad that the only Ford products that could possibly fit the bill(Ford GT and Mustang) are both retro styled vehicles who's inspirations predate the original Knight Rider. But I guess that Ford was the only logical choice, as GM was busy footing the bill for Transformers, and the Viper already has its ties with it's TV show(plus, Cerberus is too busy dismantling Chrysler to bother supporting a TV series). And I'll assume that the King of the Road's initials came into play as well.

I would've gone with a 'Vette Z06, myself...

When I watched the movie I was pretty pleased with KITT's overall appearance. My only real complaint was with the double rear wing. Now when i see the previews it looks like utter crap. It looks like instead of having something halfway believable they decided to put a bunch of junk on it to sell toys. Definite step backwards in my opinion. If the writing regresses as much as KITT's design, this show won't last a season. I was kinda' jazzed for the series but now I don't know if I have any desire to watch.
thuglite
Yes i also really liked KITT's interior in the movie. The only part that seems half-assed was the mac keyboard that looked like it was thrown in the glovebox as an afterthought. The series interior looks like it was designed by people in the 70's wondering what technology would look like in the future. LAME. I'm having second thoughts about even giving the show a chance now.

i havent seen the show yet but it cant be as bad as "team knight rider" that was on air like 10 years ago

i want my life back.. watched the premier episode and WANTED to love it but I feel nbc is just not realizing what they COULD have had.. the writers should be FIRED for making such an abomination of a show..

1. Who writes a chase scene where the cars are not driving ridiculously fast? seemed like slow motion. honestly, a buguatti not torching tires and giving KITT a run for his money? lame.

2. KITT is horrible, what happened to the creative style of car interiors, i.e. KITT (2000) and such examples as the delorean from BTTF, inventive looking, not just stock with a snowglobe stuck to the dash sarcasm.gif nano technology is good and all, but the people who decided KITT should turn into a truck have creative ideas but very poor follow through. a stock f150? really? god i hate product placement, maybe if you can't afford to shoot a tv series, it means you SHOULDN'T produce a tv series.. at least customize the f-ing f150, make it decent to look at.

ok i'm going off on a tangent and apologize. back to KITT's interior.

Stock shelby 500 interior.. how plain! this is "supposed" to be the most advanced car in the world but yet still feels like a car purchased directly from a dealership and has a red strobe installed in the hood scoops within 10 minutes. i'm sure others will agree with me, well at least hopefully.

3. the EXTERIOR! hahahaha i hope it was a complete joke to make KITT look like an asian boy's wet dream of a mustang. NO TASTE! simply tacky.. which is sad to say. again a high tech mustang with no 3 piece wheels, no big brake kit, "supposedly" has a turbo but the CGI scene of the engine run-through shows combustion without a cylinder (that really makes sense..)

WORST PART! ATTACK MODE! SPOILIER on top of a SPOILER! (that made me laugh the hardest). Attack mode? really? more like poor KITT mode, horrible aerodynamics due to gaudy body kit, the spoiler like I previously mentioned, pro-street wheels?, and more lights than a tokyo Mini Van.

Those are my gripes and I am sticking to them, if the fans are lucky KITT will crash and the team will have to REBUILD KITT according to Michael Knight's specs, (come on the dude has a cobra in his garage in vegas, he SHOULD know whats up..) loose the goofy ponies and make Knight Rider what the fans want, a SHOW they can get into!

Here is what really bad is a person who dose not check the other treads and post on there. There is a tread just like this one. But you did not take your time to look even when it was on the same page as this one. It basicly the same topic. That was started 2 days ago.

Yes I did not care for the transformation that was a little overboard the nano tech was just fine.
diiorio
I wish they would modify the mustung a bit more, make it more stream line then short. THe new sensor light I do like, the dashboard is very boring. I understand they use a heads up display on the windshield, but the dash itself and the ORB for his voice is boring.

Thy need to add some more fuctionability to the dashboard, perhaps a GPS, Sattelite and sevellience system so that is displayed even when the windshield interface is not active.

I don't like the Transformation modes. Is this Knight Rider or Tansformers? I like the nano tech shifting better in the movie from feb.

The pickup truck has got to go! They need to use somethign like a short cab SUV/truck hybrid. Shorter and closer to his orginal size. THe transformation is far to unrealistic into that mode.

I downloaded tonights episode days ago on Xbox Live Market place in HD. Good way to see detail that is missed in NBC's poor quality web version. IF you don' have xbox live, then watch it in HD tonight on NBC if you can.

Other issues. They stage his death, yet he will look the same, and he takes the name Mike Knight? Won't that ring bells with groups tied into illegle acts? SUre he can go undercover with another name but they need to come up with a way to change his appearance. I bet they have some kind of Nano device he wears to change his facial look, and kit can send a singnal and data to change his apearance.

THe show has potential, early epiisodes of shows typically suck so it can evolve.

I love this show and I love the car but how did we go from a T.A to a mustang love it...

Well, it's not the same KITT. This is the Knight Industries Three Thousand; no reason they'd use a twenty year old car for the new, top o' the line KITT.

I'm going to miss KARR, though.
KnightRider80s
I have to say that I am shocked that NBC sold out to FORD as they did. I mean all KITT is now is just a bacl mustang. Any punk on the street could have that car. What made the original KITT so fantastic was that he was uniquie and not everybody could have one of those tricked out Trans-Am's. NBC really screwed the pooch on this one. I have 3 words for you .... LESS IS MORE. I was so excited to see the new series I DVR'd the episode and my wife waited until I got home so we can both watch it together. I must say, after the first little "transformer like" change, my wife and I looked at eachother and laughed. We then proceeded to delte the program and move on. My god people, you had a golden oppertunity to restart the franchise and you blew it with the car. Get rid of the FORD and get somehting totaly new and not related to some car maker of today. I honestly felt that the little time we did watch it in the begining of this first episode and the moive a couple of months ago, was nothing more then a stupid Ford comercial. If you were smart NBC, you would realize that FORD is not a dependable car maker nad as far as tech is concerned, FORD is not your car. The only thing you can do now is have KITT blow up in some KITT vs KARR episode nad bring in a totaly revamped car .. NOT FORD. I mean, get with George Barris and he will design you guys the car that will sell the show. Oh yea, having the HOFF back might help ... ONLY IF HE HAS THE ORIGINAL KITT with him. THat would be an episode I would tune into. But for now, I will never watch this show until they change the car. ITS ALL ABOUT THE CAR. NOT ABOUT A COMMERCIAL FOR A P.O.S. DANG!! you guys at NBC have no idea what you are doing. Heroes is about the best and only good thing you have going. Lets hope you don't mess that one up too.

I like the care, but not for KITT. I wish they would have went with something completely conceptual, or even foreign. A Lotus, lol man, even a BMW would be better than a Mustang. Or the new Cadillac I forget the name of it, but it's bad ass. I will close my eyes, and pretend this show never happened.
AMM66
i like some of the new Lamborghini concepts that would have been cool
lotus Elise is one of my favorite cars ever
but its not like the mustang looks bad
if you think KITT doesn't look cool go take a look at your driveway one more time
lol
kittxthexcat
The reason the TA was so great was because it was modified so it didn't look exactly like every other TA. The only thing different between Kitt and a GT500 is his scanner. That's it. That took maybe...two seconds to come up with. The original Kitt took months to come up with. I would have liked to see more thought given to Kitt, he should look cool right away, not have to 'transform' into something cool o.O

The Cadillac you're thinking of is the XLR maybe? I agree, I would LOVE that car as Kitt. I hadn't even thought of using it before! Props to you.

Karr can always come back, the new Kitt is still a 'production line model' to him. Heck, having a new Kitt only proves to him that the 'Kitts' are production cars, unlike him. Bringing him back would be a great idea, you'd even have more to work with since he'd probably be even more determined to destroy Kitt now that there's two!
jester8170
I'm not a Ford man by any stretch of the imagination, however I like the GT500KR for KITT. The original was meant to look like but not be like every other TA out there. Same with this Pony. It looks like a lot of other Mustangs but the GT500KR will lay down some hot times. Oh and so everyone knows the KR on the GT500KR stands for "King of the Road" it just so happens to work with Knight Rider. I like the cars, I like the women, I like that if I miss an episode I won't be completely lost. I like the show in total.
ViperMan
Did anyone see the concept poster images that used a Koenigsegg CCR as KITT? It was a little far-fetched (believe me there isnt' even room for a scanner on one of those things) but being that Koenigsegg took rank as the fastest production car in the world, it certainly wouldn't need ridiculous special affects to LOOK like it was going fast!

Personally I thought a new Camaro would be great - at least then you stick with the GM family. But then again, the only reason it's a Ford is because Ford is the only company that decided to pay up for the show. Supposedly the production team put the idea out to all three of the American manufacturers, and only Ford bothered to call back.

It's not about good-quality entertainment these days. It's about money - cold, wet, stinky cash. Ford saw dollar signs and frankly couldn't give two sh*ts about the quality of the show.

Hey Ford - this show makes your mustang look like a piece of garbage and I'm actually glad I didn't win the KITT car contest from the pilot show.

There - THAT'll get the show cancelled more than anything else!

Jeff
kittxthexcat
The Koenisgsegg pictures have been proven a very long time ago to be fake. A fan made it into a poster for the (hopefully) upcoming Glen Larson feature film for Knight Rider, and there was a HUGE thing over if they were real or not. I'm uber glad they're not tongue.gif

I wish there could have been a cheaper car for them to use. Yeah, that statement sounds wierd, but the most likely reason they don't do a lot of real driving shots with the Mustang is because they're ridiculously expensive, Ford only makes 80 something of them a year. If it's a production year for it at that. The TA's they used they'd get for free, or near free, cause it's illegal for a car to be sold as 'new' if it's damaged during shiping. Instead of scraping them, Pontiac basically handed the cars over to KR. That's why there's so many 'real show' cars tongue.gif I miss watching Kitt take a total nose dive after Turbo Boost and then cutting away to him driving away perfectly XD
nj07
its a one hour commerical for the gt500 and thats it with its dumb attack mode and val kilmers boring voice and I remember that pontiac went to the producers and asked them not to refer the car as a trans am thats why in the original they started saying in the description as a black t-top in this one ford and the cobra logo are all over the seats grill and heck even the logos if they want this to sucseed thay better change some things and bring back the attack mode from the movie back in feb instead of this junk their putting out!
Rinnovate
I'll start by saying that I'm a huge fan of the first Knight Rider series but I'm not here to wave the old school flag and automatically stomp on anything that differs from the original. It's safe to say most of us here agree that this new Knight Rider is severely lacking on so many levels; the obvious product IN-YOUR-FACE'ment, the writing, acting, cheap CGI and most of all the poor choice of car to portray KITT. I mean seriously take a look at the old and new KITTs side by side and ask yourself which one looks slicker, more stealth. Don't get me wrong I like Mustangs, but for starters this one is a RETRO design where KITT is supposed to be super high-tech and futuristic....and dont get me started on the "attack KITT".... So enough complaining. Pretend NBC is asking us what car they should choose to play KITT, which car would it be? It can be any car you want but in trying to keep realistic, here are a few things to keep in mind:

-The car should preferably be in mass production and close to the same price range as the Mustang GT-500 KR. I heard someone suggest a Bugatti Veyron as KITT. While cool, Its way too luxury to play KITT. Also That car is also costs a cool $1.4 million. Not very budget sound, especially for an action series.
-Should be futuristic and slick looking, not a retro-styled take on an older design. Note that this doesnt necessarily mean you should choose a newmodel/ year 2008-09 car.
-All of the past vehicles that have portrayed KITT were modified versions of existing cars. The car should respond well to body kits and modifications.

With that said, here are my suggestions:

2009 Nissan GT-R
http://www.zcars.com.au/images/nissan-gtr-wallpaper1.jpg
This car just came out in the summer. Given the already high-tech nature of the car I'd say it'd be very fitting as KITT A bit bulky looking but a nice body kit can fix that.

90-96 Nissan 300zx
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...issan_300ZX.jpg
Maybe a little biased since I actually own one of these. Although older (90s) it matches KITTs design much better than the Mustang.

K1 Attack
http://mnacllc.googlepages.com/K1Attack.ot...-full;init:.jpg
A stylish kit car (no pun intended)

Lexus LF-A
http://thepassionatepursuit.com/images/web...a-spy-shots.jpg
This car is soo-to-be-released, but it would make an awesome KITT

I can think of lots more but what are your suggestions?
51887
Please tell me the 300ZX suggestion is a joke. Does Mike Traceur/Michael Knight work at Radio Shack now? Does he have to wear his cap backwards when he drives?

A Ford GT would've been a cool ride, especially Hennessey's version. Hennessey's Corvette ZR1 is pretty cool too.

I think the Shelby GT500KR looks pretty good on screen. Some other interesting Mustang choices might've been the Roush BlackJack or Saleen S302E.
Rinnovate
Not as big a joke as the new "attack mode". Or KITT as a Transformer/ Mustang for that matter. No need for fancy gadgets or Mike having to jump out of the car to stop criminals as they will laugh themselves to death upon seeing ATTACK MODE KITT!!!(complete with hood-mounted triple nerf ball launcher and scary neon blue lights). Not that I'd even half expect a 300zx to be used as KITT, but a decked out Z would fit KITT infinitely better than any Mustang would. As I mentioned I like Mustangs, but the original KITT was a slick road missile compared to this car that looks about as aerodynamic as a cinder block. Then again these are only suggestions...
KRTBS
Nothing against the Mustang, it's nice to have KITT be an American muscle car, but I am not as much of a fan of this current retro Stang. Has the feel of the Shelbys of the late 70s early 80s and as such in my opinion looks less aerodynamic than the original with the vertical grill and headlamps. If the Stang was more sleek like the Ford GT, then it would seem more credible. Don't care for the racing strips, they are black on black, what's the point? It seems like a shame that they couldn't keep it in the Pontiac family and use the Solstice which has a very sleek, concept car feel. But probably too expensive for stunt work. The original TA stood out especially early on and it's too bad this car doesn't stand out a little bit more. That's why I like the Solstice, not one around every corner, but not an exotic either. Plus it looks like a 21st Century coupe. But to each his own and I am sure there are many Mustang fans that are happy.

I just bought a 2009 Solstice in Aggressive (Victory Red) and you know what GPS unit im using in it? The Knight Rider GPS by Mio, of course. haha I now have my own version of KITT that I use everyday which is cool. Although I like the idea of KITT being a Pontiac again, I don't think that a Solstice would be practical as KITT. Sure its got the curves and the looks, but its a small 2-seat roadster that I don't think they would be able to add enough gadgetry to. Heck the trunk space with the top down is only 2 cu. ft. ! ahha As a Pontiac guy, I was praying that they would use a bunch of 98-02 Black Trans Am's and modified them for KR duty. They would have an endless supply of cars they could do things to if they had used those due to what you can buy one for now and that Black was the #1 production color for Trans Am during the LS1 era.
Yet I do understand why they used the Mustang, other than Ford paying NBC a mountain of cash, they wanted the hottest car for the time and for the general public it is the Mustang which a ton of people just love. Back in 82, the newly styled Trans Am was the hottest car, which is why it was used.
If I remember correctly, they initially thought of using a Corvette but there were no "official" 1983 Corvettes in the new body style, they went with Pontiac's Trans Am.
So as much as I am a GM/Pontiac guy, I let it go and now accept the Knight Industries Three Thousand as a Mustang
Rinnovate
Although I like the idea of a Ford GT and a Pontiac Solstice, the former, dubbed the "Lambo Killer" is too expensive and the latter though beautiful doesnt really fit KITT like you said. A modified current Corvette would be the best choice. If your going to go as high-priced as a Ford GT you might as well get one of these:

http://www.autodrome.fr/lamborghini_pregunta_heuliez_3-4.jpg
Concept based on the Lamborghini Diablo called the Heuliez Pregunta. If anyone has seen an old, rare Knight Rider movie poster with Keanu Reeves and a car that had an off center scanner, this was the car in the poster

http://www.zcars.com.au/images/saleen-s5s-...or-concept1.jpg
Saleen is known for modifying Mustangs. This is thier first all original car called the S5s Raptor. It even has the slot for KITTs scanner already built in.

Some of the newer Firebirds wouldnt have been a bad idea either. They could have used a heavily modified 2002 Firebird Trans Am. Although older it still could have been modded to look much more modern.

What on earth happened to KITT?! I am having a very tough time figuring out what the producers of the new show want KITT to be.

From what I've noticed so far:
  1. KITT wants to be a Ford - Kewl. But does it have to look so ugly? Surely there are better looking Ford models out there, or on the drawing board?
  2. KITT wants to be a Transformer - Huh? Why?! Is it going to turn into a helicopter? Oh, that's Airwolf. Is it going to turn into a bike? Oh, that's Street Hawk. Is it going to turn into a walking cyborg? Oh, that's Transformers. Is it going to turn into anything else? Oh, that's Automan. No, KITT is a car. Transform into battle mode or stealth mode or normal mode if you want, but please remain a car!
  3. KITT wants to be a Ford - Yes, I noticed.
  4. KITT wants to be HAL - HAL is a spaceship computer, and a classic! Don't mess with HAL! Here is a suggestion: Maybe KITT saw HAL in a movie and thought it would be cool to look like it, so KITT transformed his interface to look the same. Someone on the show decides to inform KITT that it looks really, really bad. KITT changes it into something more befitting a Knight Rider car. Fans rejoice!
  5. KITT wants to be a Ford - Grrr. Yes. I know. Enough already!
  6. KITT wants to look retro - What?! Glowing blue neon lights? That is so 90's, never mind futuristic! Please, for sanity's sake, fix!
  7. KITT wants to be a Ford - Please, stop that. I know!
  8. KITT wants a warm, friendly, manly voice - Fail. The current voice is flat and dull and not remotely interesting. Please load new voice samples.
  9. KITT wants to be a Ford - *Cry*
  10. KITT wants a cheap plastic interior - Why? I thought it's a futuristic car! Another retro thing? What on earth are the glowing blue things glaring in the face of the driver and passenger? The projectors for the windshield display? Please sink it lower into the dash so that it's not shining so brightly into the interior. Mood lights? That is so Ford Focus! Also, please try to at least make some kind of effort to hide the cheap plastic look of the rest of the dashboard and it's components. By now most have realised that this production has some serious budget issues but any effort would be greatly appreciated!
  11. KITT wants to be a Ford - Sorry. My mistake. I misjudged a Ford advert for the new Knight Rider series.
  12. KITT wants it's own cave - Complete with a secret tunnel. Oh, that's Batman!
  13. KITT wants to be a Ford - STOP IT!!!
  14. KITT wants a huge support team - Uhm... Nope. I cannot even begin to imagine why. Please, sometime soon, explain to me why!
  15. KITT wants to be a Ford - THAT. IS. ENOUGH. Seriously getting annoying!!!
MathewLisett
its an easy answer, the producers want to show their production line ...which isnt a great move since they havent got the best record for interior or exterior quality
ancientspark
We have to look past the brand having to be just Ford. It was JUST a TransAm from Pontiac originally....

Here's the thing... if we want a new show, we've got to get it paid for. A sponsor back in the 80's like Pontiac didn't HAVE to put its label on K.I.T.T. because hardly anyone had VCRs and everyone had to watch the commercials. Besides there weren't really any Pontiac commercials on during Knight Rider, the car sold itself due to its sleek design and everyone knew what it was.

NOW we live in 2008 when the majority of people watching tv are mindless morons who not only need to be reminded what kind of vehicle it is every 2 seconds, but they have TIVO and DVRs... and so they dont watch shows live anymore... they purposely avoid the live airing because they can fast-forward all the commercials. And where does that leave us? Extreme Product-Placement having to be a necessary evil in order for sponsors to pay the bills, people.

Be GLAD we can all watch a new Knight Rider, and remember that no show is perfect. Just look at all the crappy acting of David Hasslehoff back in the 80's. It still had CHARM and the show won fans over regardless.

People need to take into account these things before bashing the show... we dont HAVE to have a new show, we can just watch all the reality TV and not be blessed with a fantastic show such as this. So be THANKFUL for what you DO have and hey... it's only 2 shows in... give it a CHANCE !

STFU! You wouldn't know good television if you saw it. Calling this a blessing is pure BS. It's not a blessing, it's a crime.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way. Don't watch it then. Go watch The Hills or something that might appeal to your level of intelligence.

Nobody is MAKING you watch this show, so if you can't say something nice,
just leave it alone and move on with your life. Some of us here realize that while a show is never going to be pefect, TAKE what you can get.

and grow up. You try being a writer sometime and see how hard it is to please people like yourself. Dumbass.

For those who might be interested about who's idea it was to make KI3T a mustang. here is a web page for you. insideline.com

ancient i was in agreement with you as you actually sounded mature against the rest UNTIL you ended with the word dumbass

Dude, the Ford-bashing has gotten so old.

Using TiVO and DVR as an excuse to justify the need for such obvious and constantly in-your-face product placement holds no weight. More viewers than most watch the show when its on air and I've honestly never seen a show try so hard to push a product. I don't bash Ford and I don't think anyone here is either. They're bashing the choice of car to portray KITT and Ford's endless effort to make sure we know KITT is a FORD MUSTANG. This page alone along with the Knight Rider Forums themselves have no less than 3 seperate banner ads shoving the same message at us. To top it off the design of KITT and they way the show portrays him is all together terrible.

In the original series Pontiac actually told the producers to remove all logos and indication that the car was a Pontiac, and to refer to the car as a t-tops because people were calling dealerships for the "Knight Rider" Trans-Am. People still knew what it was and the sales boomed to reflect that. The car had such a subtle and iconic design along with the shows impact that despite the at times campy moments, seemingly slapped together production, 2 crappy pilots (including this one) and a shoddy spin-off later, the fans still wanted more.

What astonishes me more than anything is that with such a robust palette of material from the original series, this is the best the producers could come up with.

I don't think some people understand. I, for one, posted this because I LOVE Knight Rider! I WANT the new series to succeed! If you read my post you will see that I gave suggestions as to how they can improve the show. It is still early enough in the series that they can still make changes to it. You have no idea how desperately I want it to succeed.

No, I was not Ford bashing. It's the shoving of the Ford logo in my face every few minutes for the entire duration of an episode that is ticking me off. It feels more like an advert than a Knight Rider story.

However, it is not my story to tell. Let's see how it unfolds. It's early days yet. In the mean time I really hope they can attract and maintain a big enough audience to keep the series going.

*Fingers crossed*

For the DVD collection, the KR on the bottom of KITT MUST go away. Why?

Nowhere within the show has anyone EVER referred to the title of the show (DISREGARDING TKR ENTIRELY)
Knight Rider is simply the show's name. The group that runs Michael and KITT is both FLAG and Knight Industries,
and in the new series, Knight Industries, Knight Industries Research and the good ol' FBI.

The ONLY thing KR could stand for is Knight Research, but why put it on the bottom of the car so people can see
it while being turbo-boosted over? That makes no sense. Graiman even says the company does not exist when the FBI agent tells Michael if he gets caught stealing they can't help him. The whole entire POINT to Knight Industries is to be a BLACK OP itself, totally covert. Michael Knight NEVER existed, NONE of it actually exists, for the record.

KR should never be even implied on the show, save the opening and closing credits. This is a STORY and the characters in that story have NO IDEA they're on TV. So to place KR under the car is to negate the suspension of disbelief and make it so SOMEBODY, whoever put that there, knows that they're on some show called Knight Rider.

This is a very valid point and it needs to be addressed by the show. Disavowed or explained to be Knight Research. Just have Sarah suggest that it be taken off and have someone own up to doing it, saying they were abbreviating or something and have them be coached on that and REMOVE the stinking emblem.

THE CHESS PIECE needs to be brought back. In all fairness to Wilton Knight, if nothing else. Graiman should know and respect Wilton's dream and at least carry on the logo as a legacy! Kill the cobra, an agency like Knight Industries would not care to advertise the BRAND/MODEL of car anywhere in their own industrie's logo, so keep the cobra on the grill and leave it there, alone.

Who's with me!

Has it ever occured to you that in their universe they can't see "KR" on the bottom of the car or "KR" anywhere else on the car for that matter. Only we can see it.

No I agree with a-spark. Not as much for the same reasons, but I do agree. Especially during the Turbo Boost jump. It makes K.I.T.T.³ look like an oldschool matchbox toy car. Unless there is a scenario where K.I.T.T.³ needs shield from all angles including the bottom, it should look like the bottom of any other car. Maybe more detailed, or less grimy, but not with a glowing logo underneath,... Especially when the story suggests that the resurrected F.L.A.G. is supposed to be a SECRET organization!

I can see your point about the KR on the bottom. I think they did that just for our benefit, but I do agree that it doesn't add anything and seems rather cheesy.

I do like how the snake on the rear emblem changes when the car goes to attack mode, but that's about it for the attack mode.

I do agree that I wish they would bring the chess piece back.

The KR stands for King of the Road, its for the Mustang not the show.
