I am trying to find something with high fiber, but I don't want corn syrup and stuff like that in it. Does anyone know of a good bread like this? Also I have tried that one bread that is only 35 calories a slice. You can have 2 slices for the calories of 1 slice of other breads. However, it has the high fructose corn syrup in it. I was wondering, when choosing and eating bread....should you eat 2 slices if they are 100 calories a slice or is it better to eat the 35 calories a slice bread even with the high fructose corn syrup in it?

I eat Country Harvest Flax & Seed bread; Dempster's Ancient Grains bread, etc. I don't pay attention to the nutrients in it - it's not every day that I eat bread and when I do, it's a maximum of 2 slices of bread a day. The fretting of what's in it would kill me faster than consuming the actual bread.

Country Harvest just came out with a new bread called "Healthy Way" but I haven't seen it in the stores where I live. Maybe you can look it up and see what it offers. Other than that, you'd probably have to make your own bread at home to eliminate all of the stuff you don't want in it but you'd have to eat it all within two days because it has no preservatives to keep it longer.

I stay away from the breads specifically designed for weightloss - I find them tasteless and dry. Might work for some people but not for me.

Thanks. I actually think I found one that works for me. Healthy Life 100% whole wheat with 40% daily fiber in 2 slices, 120 calories for 2 slices, no high fructose corn syrup, low fat, even has calcium and vitamin D.

Or try this: allow loaves to cool completely, then place in Ziploc bags and leave on the counter overnight (the extra time helps with slice-ability, as very fresh bread tends to squish and tear if you try to slice it too soon.) Next day, slice the bread, return to bags, and freeze. Now you can remove only as many slices as you need, when you need them. The frozen slices will thaw in as little as 15 minutes, or if you're very impatient, you can zap them for a few seconds in the microwave. Not too long, though, or it gets tough and chewy!

The beauty is that you can bake in bulk only once a month or so, and always have a ready supply of yummy, nutritious bread with no "mystery" or undesirable ingredients!

Get Ezekiel Bread. It is sold in the health food section in the freezer and is VERY low glycemic.
