Just read that Andy Richter will be the new announcer on the Tonight Show..What's happening with Joel?

Yeah, just read that Andy Richter is the new announcer. Bad move imo. I was never a fan of Andy's. Don't know what's up with Joel.

I noticed on just about every late night talk show that no other announcer has matched Joels wacky charisma. Every show which featured joel has always resulted in making me laugh. Ive been watching Conan since he took over for Letterman, so there is my friggin credential.

I think Joel is getting up there in terms of age and, unlike everyone else, isn't able to uproot his family for the show. And on top of it, I think everyone missed Andy being on the show. He left on account of his own ambitions pursuing more in the business with acting on his own, and it didn't work out. In the mean time, Conan branched out and proved he is more than competent on his own than with a sidekick.

So now there's an opening for an announcing slot. Everyone thinks "Hey, we miss Andy! Give him the position!" They want him back, but Conan doesn't need a chimpanzee to sit at his side anymore, he's fine alone, so they give him this job. Just a loop hole to get Andy involved again. I'm not against it, i like Andy, I have to admit, I haven't seen a whole lot of him on the show since I became a fan just before he left, but he's fun and has good chemistry with Conan. However, I don't think his voice has "Tonight Show" marketability. But, I guess that was their best option.

Hold on Cutaconan.....what do you mean Andy's acting career didnt work out?........not only was Andy's controlling of the universe (on Fox) awesome,but he also did the P.I. show (on NBC)....and tons of movies.....guess him and Will Ferrell are buddies or somethin'.............."didnt work out"........why?........cuz he hasnt had some big hit show on for 9 seasons?.......big deal......Arrested Development is 1 of the best shows EVER.....and they struggled the whole time with their numbers.....and NBC's News Radio was another 1.......that show was AMAZING....(props to Dave Foley for running a ship shape ship)......Andy's done just fine for himself......he doesnt need Conan for anything really........AND.....Andy's way cooler than a chimpanzee.....i'm not attacking you or anything.......hell,i read your posts all the time......just sayin'.......Andy's cool....and he doesnt need Conan................"LEMON OUT!"

Oh I wasn't trying to attack him or anything, tettsuo, I was just saying that Andy left to be on his own, and while he did do many projects, based on his new found placement with Conan again, I just figured he maybe thought he made a mistake leaving. Not that he did, just my opinion and a possibility.

I love Andy, and I'm glad he's back, I was just trying to justify his position now on the Tonight Show, that's all.

I'm gonna miss Joel - I loved it when Conan would show pictures of him and Joel and Max together for whatever holiday just passed

Ill watch the first show in less than an hour but don't understand the switch back to andy I hear hes back on the couch and Conzie dosent need a sidekick now. Ill miss Joel and the old format.

Joel Goddard chose not to relocate to California.
