I FEEL GOOD
03-26-2009 10:00PM

COUNTY’S DOCTORS AND NURSES HELP KIDS AT CAMP DEL CORAZON— TOM ARNOLD (“THE REPLACEMENTS”) AND COURTNEY B. VANCE (“LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT”) GUEST STAR-- Many of the ER doctors and nurses help out at Camp Del Corazon, a camp for kids who have had open heart surgery. Working along side the camp counselor (guest star Tom Arnold), Morris (Scott Grimes) and Brenner (David Lyons) make a huge impact on several kids at the camp. Meanwhile, Dr. Banfield (Angela Bassett) and her husband (guest star Courtney B. Vance) feel their adoption dreams slipping away when a young mother comes back for the child she abandoned in the ER. Parminder Nagra, John Stamos and Linda Cardellini also star.

Show Cast: Linda Cardellini, Parminder Nagra, John Stamos, Scott Grimes, David Lyons, Angela Bassett

Glad that with their last episode before the finale ER is still highlighting what great community service doctors and nurses do (other than their jobs!). biggrin.gif
Reelafan4ever
I wonder what Neela's story is in this episode.
BigJ09
The best thing about this episode is that it is going to feature a real camp for kids with heart disease that Tom Arnold is a supporter of it. Camp del Corazon actually does exist for children with congenital heart disease.

Thanks to Pandorama at AEB for spotting this TVGuide.com video of John Stamos and Scott Grimes and others during the episode wrap party.

sounds like it'll be a great ep

This episode sounds like one to watch and have a good time. Let loose and remember the good time in this one hour episode. This is what ER is about. doctors and nurses doing good deeds for kids that had heart surgery. And this might take that thought of the finale for a bit..

Heather, how do you know this for sure?? Why was Parminder in so many of the shots in previews for the final two weeks??

I have already showed some evidence of more Neela appearances in the Episode 20 thread. But here is more evidence from another source that we will see Neela again: http://blogs.usaweekend.com/whos_news/2009...er-stars-r.html

Nagra didn’t want to give too much away, but she says she did get to meet Clooney during his brief time on set. “All I can say is what you see is what you get. He’s a very nice man.” While Thursday night is the homecoming episode, next Thursday night marks a major point of closure for Nagra’s character, Dr. Neela Rasgotra, as she embarks on her last day at County General. Nagra, whose first child with husband James Stenson is due in early summer, fully utilized all her acting chops for the powerful episode, she says. “I go through a half gallon of emotions.” Last week also marked the filming of her last scene in the two-part series finale that airs March 26 and April 2. “There was this weird kind of giddiness about it on stage. I think people have been dealing different ways. For me, certainly it was just wanting to enjoy that one last moment with people who I’ve spent so much time with.”

Unfortunatly it is the end of an era but I do believe the episode that aired tonight is one of the best EVER. Seeing John Stamos and Scott Grimes singing together was awesome! I love the fact that they can sing and for them to perform on the next to last show just makes so much more bittersweet. I have always planned my Thursday night around ER and if I was out it got recorded. What will I do now? My favorite show from high school to college to becoming an adult and mother is now fading to black. I will sadly sit with my tissuses and enjoy the last show and mourn it's end but know that I can catch it for a while in syndication. Thanks for years of entertainment and best of luck to the cast and crew as they go on to new projects.

OMG, I so loved this episode! It was totally awesome. I loved the camp, the kids, and even Tom Arnold's character. I would love to get more information on this camp for kids, and to see if one of my local hospitals does something like that, as that is great for those kids.

Now, as for Morris and Claudia, I came unglued and dont' think I had enough tissues on hand to handle the surprise twist. I couldn't believe he was showing how much he loved Claudia. I used to think Morris was nothing but a jerk, but he has really matured and I'm so happy he wants to share the rest of his life with Claudia.

Dr. Banfield and her husband discussing open adoption with the baby's mother is a great way to go. My daughter had a child when she was very young and we opted for an open adoption. I'm glad we did. We step back enough so the adoptive family can raise her child and take care of her child but my daughter is involved in major decisions as well as all birthdays and Christmases. I'm so happy now for Banfield and for the writers to show that even if you want to be a part of your child's life but cannot take care of your child, that can be a very viable option.

1 more episode. I don't know if I can handle it. I'm lost now.

CarolRossMD

I can't believe it...there will be no more scenes after an episode ever! But so glad that this season has been so great!
CarolRossMD
I will be right there with you....I was getting tears in my eyes during the scenes....I love that so many cast members come back.

I just hope they don't so that darn wall again....cause it about kills me each time!

Great episode tonight, I can't believe that there is only one more left. There are so many stories and 15 years worth of loose ends that need to be tied up in one hour. I just dont see how they are going to do it. I just didn't want it to end tonight. Morris and Claudia are great together, Banfield got her baby, and Sam and Gates seem to be reuniting. So the opening of the Joshua Carter will be the way the story ends. I hope there will be some surprises next week instead of just having a reunion at the Carter center. It looks like we will be seeing every important alive character; Lewis, Corday, Benton, Weaver, Carter, Abby, Hathaway, not sure about Clooney though. I think it will be great and I dont see how they can fit it all into one hour. It will definately be very sad and there will be an empty feeling as the credits roll. I cannot comprehend the wrapping up on 15 years of storylines for a multitude of characters in 60 minutes. The whole idea of it blows my mind. I think the episode should be 2 hours long. Tonight was great but I did not see how it was beneficial in setting up the finale. It will be interesting to watch.

The Archie/Claudia scene was a good one. What I realized during that scene was that characters come and go but the writing makes ER. They have done a wonderful job throughout the years. I was thinking and trying to put my finger on other episodes that were kind of goofy like the tent scene but it reminded me how much I love this show. I'd continue watching and never miss a beat. I know it's tough with the losses of Pratt, Abby, Carter, etc. but life in the ER goes on. I'd have gladly continued supporting the show with Neela, Ray, Archie, Gates, Sam, Brenner & Co as long as the writing stays strong. I also know all things must come to an end but it's going to be tough come Thursdays without ER to look forward to. I can't wait to see the finale. I guess I need to start my ER DVD collection.

Not to worry... the episode is 2 hrs long. Next week, it's a whole night event for ER with the retrospective airing at 8pm followed by the 2 hr episode from 9-11pm (at least on the east coast).

It was a really nice episode.

Absolutely AMAZING to see Reela....It was worth the wait smile.gif

Morris-Claudia, also too sweet for words....happy that morris finally has someone.

sam and gates, they seem to be finding their way back to each other.

the camp was really a nice touch.

tom arnold was funny.

banfield, hubby and the baby was also sweet.

brenner, i felt sorry for him, he def looked upset in this episode but it also broke my heart on the heart transplant patient and that daughter...

im already upset that the finale will be here soon enough. i dont want er to end. sad.gif

I just wanted to thank ER for bringing CHD, Congenital Heart Defects, to the attention of others.

I was born with Tricuspid Atresia, a type of Congenital Heart Defect and am now 29 years old beating the odds with many others. I hope that more shows and people out there learn about us, both as kids and adults as there are so many of us that were born with this and are now adults something doctors never imagined years ago.

I hate the fact that ER is ending, but so happy that they put this episode in. To bad they couldn't have made one with adults cool.gif

If anyone would like more info on Congenital Heart Defects please visit www.achaheart.org. It's for everyone even though it's aimed at adults.

God Bless.

PS I hope there are more shots of Shane West mmmm

This episode was actually close to my heart. I have been going to Camp Del Corazon since I was 10. I have also been watching ER since the first season. So, being a fan of ER and knowing that they were going to showcase Camp Del Corazon, I was so excited tonight. And to see "Tommy" (Tom Arnold) portray "Big Kahuna," who in real life is a man named Dr. Kevin Shannon and who actually started Camp Del Corazon at UCLA, I laughed so hard. I was on the floor. Ive met Tom Arnold, so to see him portray my hero was darn right funny. Tonights show was great because I got to see some of my friends on TV and got to see some real magic. Children with heart disease are hardly ever portrayed on tv, only those with cancer. It sad because I grew up knowing that congenital heart disease is the number one killer in children, and it took the second to last episode of this fine tv show to shine a light on this deadly disease and to show how real kids cope with heart disease. The boy who was a little troubled, his story about his friend dying, is all too familiar to me. So I say thank you to all the writers and NBC and all the actors for putting on this show, it meant so much to me.
Fancy_New_Becca
though I liked tonights episode I am kinda surprised that tonights other stories seemed alittle flat, the stories outside of the camp.
It was great to see Shane West again. I was upset when they didn't have any stories to write for him an he left the show, so any face time wtih Ray is nice. biggrin.gif

I don't know. Maybe I 'm just ungrateful, but I'm not that wowed by the Reela ending. I guess we're supposed to assume that they are in love, living together and will live happily ever after, but would it have been too much to ask for at least one kiss??? Maybe an "I love you" even?? Watching last night's episode, they could just as well have been roomies again, not a couple. I'm happy, but bummed at the same time.
kakaka
I am not also still satisfied with the end of Ray and Neela, I think that they need a more little of love.... it lacks the sentence "I Love" you, a passionate kiss, or a simple union of hands - as lovers....
We know that they are together, but in way a little occult, I wanted more expression.
I don't know if I am asking a lot... but we saw Neela with a lot of passion with other... Gates and Brenner, I think we also want to see that with Ray, besides passion - love too.

I loved this episode!! I thought it was a great way to end the second to the last episode with just the current cast...it was perfect.

I thought tonights episode was great. I am beginning to think some of you only watch the show for Reela? Believe it or not, there are those of us who just like the show for what it is.....a great show. The Reela fans got what they wanted. The whole show does not need to revolve around them. They are together! I love Neela and the rest of the cast. I want to see how it ends for the rest of the characters. There are so many great characters on this show. As for those who are so very anti-Simon.....that man has some serious acting ability. He may have come in at the end but he has made the show more interesting as a whole. I am really looking forward to and dreading next weeks episode. I want to see how they wrap up the characters but I am also sad that my Thursday nights will never be as anticipated again.
Beemer07

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is not anti-Simon. David Lyons has done an excellent job.

I"m so glad I'm not the only one who isn't in it for Reela. Watching last night episode had me say outloud, "Oh boy the Reela fans are going to be up in arms over that part." I loved the whole show. You can't get better than that in my opinion. Next week will have me glued in front of a television and I refuse to move unless commerical.

I watched ER since 1994 and I learned that in each season have one favorite, that in each season we have fascinating histories and to each season we have a couple or favorite character, that is charisma.
And in this 15th season we didn't escape from the rule, I don't believe that we just watched the series for 14 years because of one couple (if that was true I would have given up when Doug Ross left) but always we have a favorite one.
We already had the fever of Carol and Doug, Carter and Abby, Lizzie and Mark, Abby and Luka (that fever was very intense), in the moment it is Ray and Neela. I think that viable, just some of us agreed that as other couples had a complete history, with beginning, half and end, I also think Reela should also have.

I didn't like Brenner in the beginning, but in the last episodes he was "pleasant", David is a great actor, pity that the character was not well developed. The same happens with Bandfield, I think she lacked essence. That episode was very good, mainly because of Morris, without a doubt he is the best of that season.

Unhappily we are close to the end, that gives me a lot of sadness, almost 15 years of emotions and the good of all this is our several opinions here... it´s cool

In your opinion...unfortunately, three of those five couples you mention did absolutely nothing for me and were never a reason I watched the show, and if anything, their scenes turned me off.

We watch for different reasons, personally, I was ready for it to end with "The Book of Abby.".

ohmy.gif whoa! I just watched the show as I know how difficult medicine can be, and since ER started great many medical dramas came on and off the air. Just think, when ER started, it was on the same night as Chicago Hope on CBS (or was it ABC, can't quite remember anymore) and that show was canceled, then it was ER adn Strong Medicine on lifetime. Strong Medicine went off the air I think in 2006. I love the technology that is involved, the use of medical terms, and even if they are not 100% accurate proceedures, they are good enough for me, as when I hear a new term, I research it all the more. I have learned a great amount of information, as well as what can possibly happen to someone who has been raped (Sam) someone who has been assaulted (Abby, Mark) Someone who was stabbed (Carter) and a great many who fell in love with another character (Morris & Pratt for example), just to lose them when they didn't think they cared. Heck, when Pratt died, I came unglued and cried so hard I went through an entire box of Kleenex from crying so hard and I didn't even like the guy that much because he was such a *****. But even though all my favorite characters adn shows have gone off the air, I will always remember the life lessons learned from this show. I will miss it greatly, but at least it's being aloud to go out with a bang instead of just being canceled and pulled of the air without a final goodbye as most television stations are prone to do, (Ahem NBC, bring back Knight Rider). Sorry for all the show dropping names, I just miss my shows, and when a great show such as this has a chance to bring it to a total final farewell, I'm all for it. We all have our favorite characters, we all have our favorite episodes, but it remained on the air for 15years because we all have something in common. ER.

Amazing episode! Anyone know if there's any kind of audio version of Gates & Archie singing? So awesome; I wish it wasn't ending.. Archie's "ring" was priceless.. I have a feeling one day he'd make an amazing father. I really will miss ER.. it's hard to believe something that has taken up over half of my life is finally ending. I feel like it's Friends all over again where I'm losing part of my childhood. The series finale (hard to say that) better be PHENOMENAL or I'll riot lol.. the preview gave me chills alone.
Fancy_New_Becca
I hope there is a good solid ending for secondary cast members like Frank, jerry, and trudie, all fav's of mine. They've been kinda glossed over lately

Loved the nursery scene when Russell told the baby they would have to work on his fist bump, sweet.

Therefore that I say that ER is fascinating, because each one of us is a strong reason to watched the series... for the wonderful traumas and emergency, for the essence of the medicine, for each character, for some captivating couples.... in other words, for everything that involves ER.

and with the end we will miss each small piece of ER - sad ....

Well said, Kat. I thought it was over when Dr. Ross and Carol left. I actually warmed to the idea of Carol dating someone else before she left. I never thought I'd warm to Weaver either. I could kick myself for missing some eps close to the end of the Green era and I really thought it was over. Then I saw Abby and she became my dream woman and I followed the show due to her. Then others came that took the focus off Abby. As bad as I hated to see her leave, I was ready to continue with Neela, Gates, and Morris at the helm. It was more to me than just someone or some few. I easily understand how anyone could lose some interest over the loss of such great actors but I love ER.

I despised Breener until Neela's last show and I was ready to go on watching with him playing a big part after the way he acted at Camp del Corazan. He's grown as a person. These writers have been amazing.

I cried when I read Shanes name in the credits...

I cant even begin to say how happy I am, seriously is riddiculous!
When I heard Neelas voice... and then, I was obviously hoping for Ray to make an appearance, but actually seeing him walking there... I didnt know if to grin or cry!
But since I had cried because of Shanes name, I just grinned like an idiot the whole scene!

The whole episode was great, and Ill get to it later, but they have a FREAKING HOME TOGETHER AGAIN!

OK, lets recap:

the whole episode had a huge old times ER vibe, because there were so many cases, plus the personal stories, it was absolutely amazing!

Morris, I love you, and Justina, you are so great! Claudia is really perfect for him, and they are so cute.

Im so happy the Banfield baby story didnt take the usual curse, and they are doing an open adoption. Its really great.

Oh Grimes and Stamos, I cant even begin to think if it was their idea, if they begged around for ages, or if it just happened, but they rocked the camp singing scene!

I actually was very amused at Gates face when saing hi to Ray, and I actually truly loved Gates this episode. Maybe it was the lack of him, or just me being high in Roomie love, but I couldnt be more happier with all the obvious hints at the happy Sates end or whatever the ship is called!

The cast was awesome, and my shipper heart was off the hook!
The young cast was particularly great.

I felt so sad for the hearts woman story, hope thatll be ok in the SF.

I dont know what else to say, but wow Im gonna miss this version of ER.
realcrazyacres
I believe this episode was the quiet before the storm.

I enjoyed seeing Dr. Brenner evolve even more. I thought it was so funny when he was sitting in the office with the boy who refused to participate. Dr. Brenner out bratted the brat with ideas for mischief! I wonder if Dr. Brenner was like him when he was young?

I have a feeling that something might come of the heart transplant patient story - you know with the little girl Brenner's been so close to. What do you think? Could he/would he try to adopt her if the mother (or aunt as the case really is) dies? The girl has no one to turn to. This seems to be one of the only patient stories unresolved.

I loved this episode, but I actually thought that this was a critical mistake. I mean we’ve been dealing with this arc for quite some time now, and personally I think it’s been one of the best and most absorbing patient arcs in some time. With that said I was devastated and somewhat put off by Joanie rejecting her transplanted heart because we had that very unlikely blood-type mix up in “The Beginning of the End” and then had the perfect ending to it in “Old Times”, which is where this arc should have stopped. If the producers wanted to make something of the Lucy/Brenner relationship and continue on with that then I think they should have had Brenner and Joanie begin a relationship at the end of this episode. Also, if she dies and Brenner takes her in then what more was this then a variant retread of what happened with Meg, Sarah, and Gates. The difference being they used that as a way to give Gates a storyline outside of the hospital. What, in the name of God would be the point of destroying this little girl in the very last episode? If there was another season I could understand the logic of it, to give Brenner that same kind of out-of-the-hospital storyline, but why now? Completely unnecessary to me and I hope that it doesn’t happen; if it does I think it will be a big flaw in what looks to be an exceptional finale.
realcrazyacres
I understand what you're saying. I was surprised that it popped up in the conversation with the boy at the camp and it was sort of contrived to hear words of wisdom from this little boy - to go and talk to the patient as she will know you're there. Brenner would have known that. And then, if it disappears off the map this week, it is, as you say, a critical mistake. We will know in a few days what they have planned!
SydneyH
Liked this episode overall, but why did Neela have Ray roaming around in her video email to the ER staff? Struck me as kind of tasteless.
G-Unit
How exactly is that tasteless? Ray is their former colleague and is well loved and respected by them. Was it wrong for the staff to have Simon Brenner "roam" to talk to Neela? Neela didn't ask Ray to be in the video or purposely plot to have him "roaming" as you say in the video. He was helping her carry her belongings to her new office. I don't understand your anger towards Neela and Ray. I think we all need to get past this war between Roomie fans and non-Roomie fans. Neela and Ray are together now and they are happy. What's done is done. Let's just enjoy the last few days of this legendary show that is ER. smile.gif
AzizalSaqr
The episode did not state that Ray and Neela are "together," only that they are working at the same hospital.
lorinieters

You're joking, right??? Of course, they're "together."
AzizalSaqr
I know what I saw and nothing there led me to see more then what was written...she went to work at the same hospital he was working at. If you want to write more into it then that you're certainly entitled to, that's what fan-fiction is all about, I choose to strictly go by what I saw on the screen.
Sandalwood
laugh.gif Imagine that! Of all the prominent teaching hospitals she could have gone to in the entire U.S. of A, she went to a lesser known one (without even a proper medical school affiliation) in Baton Rouge. Hmm... I wonder what swayed her? The benefits package? The annual Mardi-Gras themed hospital party?

I'm just glad she and Ray managed to renew their professional relationship.

I wonder, though, what he meant when he said he was bringing the stuff she wanted "from HOME". sly.gif

SydneyH
Gunit, respectfully but you are reading way more into my question than necessary. I am not 'angry' just a little mystified as Frank did not mention Ray in any way before viewing the email. I have no horse in the Reela race, so please leave me out of the drama.

AzizalSaqr
Sandalwood,

I remember something being said about her being able to incorporate research around her surgical schedule at the new hospital, that sounds like it might have been a good reason to me.

As for the other, they're friends and had been room-mates, why wouldn't she stay with him while looking for her own place and keep her things there until she could move them into her office?
