""I am writing this letter in regards to the ways that marijuana can benifit the economy and society ""

I am going to touch the subject in several aspects.
comparing it to other mind altering substances. Most present and common that comes to mind is alcohol, which was illegal at one point in time and is legal now. Obviously, there are large numbers of injuries, deaths, abuse, and many other problems it causes. I have found none of the above from the use of Marijuana. If anyone has anything that comes to mind, let’s hear it. If my history is right, alcohol was used as medications for cold and flu symptoms before it was deemed illegal. I also believe the trade and sale of alcohol became one of the main building blocks of the USofA’s economy. With the cost of the problems listed above, of course, was it worth it?
Tobacco was also a huge stimulant for the economy as well. Tobacco was a huge part of early America. The tobacco industryhid the bad effects of it for years. Now we know what tobacco really does to the human body.
Marijuana, which was legal at one point, gets no love.

Right now Kentucky is raising the taxes on the two aforementioned items. For what? Money. 10 dollars tax on a carton of cigarettes. For what? Money. Legalize the bud. Tax it. And let the people be happy.

I’ve been hearing a lot on the news lately is Mexico. This country is run by no king, queen, emporor, or any type of presidency. The drug cartel runs it. I’ve also heard a lot about violence, drugs, and slave trade leaking into our own land.

I am sure a large sum of the money the Mexican drug cartel makes is on "Marijiana", as well as other oversea contries that are smuggling it in. There is no doubt the money they have and are making is out of our own pockets and is draining our economy. I’m no accountant, but I am sure the amount of money they are taking from our nation’s economy is in the millions, if not billions, of US DOLLARS and our economy is not being helped by those US DOLLARS being dumped on people that are as good as the terrorists that attack our country.
Not only would legalizing marijuana stop the flow of US DOLLARS that is spent on foreign marijiana being smoked in the USA, I also believe it will lower the crime rates in cities across this country.
Hence. Less TAX DOLLARS being spent on something that could be getting TAXED itself and strengthening todays economy.
I must add I do remember hearing Oboma say something or other about how we should be in FEAR of how the economy is going. " Not a very confident speech”. I’ve heard on 2 apposing news channels.

If we were to put marijuana on the shelves next to alcohol and tobacco, imagine all the money keeping the economy strong when we are having a fall in economic growth in the USA. Not only it will no longer be considered a “gateway drug” that lead to other harder drugs. It would be the only.
I’ve done my share of partying. I’ve suffered losing nearly all my vision due to harder drugs that caused a bad car accident. I can say I wouldn’t of been exposed to other hard drugs if I didnt have to go to a place where people sell or do hard drugs JUST to get some pot
{example} If I go to the gas station to get me a pack of marijuana's for the day, I am only exposed to legal and legit advertisement, opposed to being advertised to by a dope dealer holding the hard stuff. . so I see it as a solution to not only stimulating the economy by tax, growers, sellers, etc. It will eliminate exposing our youth to a gate way drug that leads to doing other hard drugs simply by making the weed dealer the same guy selling cigarettes and/or beer. Instead of someone who is selling harder drugs. I’m not saying it’s good for the youth to be smoking and drinking, but we can all say for the most part when we were teens and we got drunk, we smoked.
Ask anyone under or over the age of 18, how many people drink and smoke in the USA ? Legally or not.
Get everyone together and take a servey if you think different..

Like Obama said "It’s time for change"

Is it for better or for worse? Only the people can tell.
"LEGALIZE IT"
Call your Senators and Congressman.
Tell them to legalize it.

If anyone agrees with my beliefs in how legalizing marijiana will stimulate the economy and benefit our great country.
If anyone has any questions, comments or ideas they might want to share

Here is the flaw in your theory.....

How are you going to tax a thing that will grow in the flowerbed? I'll be the first to say I'd quit cigs for it, but I'll save $$ by replacing my current landscape annuals with something for October!

I recall something on the History Channel about the Potomac being overrun with the stuff around the time it was targeted for eradication. It will grow almost anywhere, why buy it?

MOOT... The current DOC and other gov orgs put many ppl to work so long as it is contraband. Kickbacks and entrenchment among LAW/Courts/Politicians.... what kind of loss from testing/fines/probation do you think would result! This is the one DRUG that is keeping these ppl $$$$$$$$! Not to mention those locked up, that we pay for in sub.

Consentual crimes keep our joke of a Justice System well paid and bogged down with plenty of customers.

Don't bail out this GOV! let it crumble and see if something better survives to rise. I'd vote not to legalize, b/c it would bring $$$ to the economy. Sometimes a thing has to die for a betterment of all the world.
