Full Version: Let's get back to what this show was all about - Entrprenuership!
NBC > Reality > The Apprentice

Does anyone remember why The Apprentice was such a hit to begin with?? It was the passion and drive of young individuals that were motivated to become successful business people under the supervision of one of America's top entreprenuers - Dee Trump. It was about being keen, witty, and better than the next person. The task at hand mattered each week, not like it is now. I mean c'mon.. Does Tim McGraw really want to buy a wedding dress for 5k? ... Nope. He would have bought anything to help his good friend Clint black out. Not to mention the fact that these people like that their money goes to charity. Having celebrity folks on this show really doesn't make any sense. The tasks don't matter, and the game is just something to drum up fights among people that could really care less about each other... Money is handed over for every reason other than which team actually did a better job or was more up to the task.

Bottom Line: There's plenty of reality TV shows that I could turn off. Let's get back to America's talented youngsters that may have something to offer and gain from this show, and give the ax to the spoiled celebs that would surely be squashed in the real world of business.

I'm sorry but, Celebs.... "You're Fired"

I agree that there was a lot more to learn from the original show's concept. It was also nice to see someone earn an opportunity to work in the Trump organization.

The "Celebrity" version of the show still offers the opportunity to watch the dynamics of each team. It also provides some insight into how motivated each of the team members is to a) contribute to the team and cool.gif set their ego aside for the benefit of a charity.

Let's face it though, both versions were and are about ratings. Putting three women-centric tasks in a row increased the chances that the men's team would lose (not to take anything away from the strong performance of the women's team). The tolerance of Rodman's antics is inexcusable, but generates controversy.

I realize that this show is promoted as a reality series, but honestly, it's just a game show with some sizeable money raised for worthwhile charities. The causes are honorable, the show is fun/frustrating/confusing/silly/maddening to watch, but it's entertainment. Let's just hope that nobody is trying to learn ANY business lessons from it!
