Okay, the Midol placement was cheesy enough...but the Anytizers?

Of course, if this helps Days stay on the air, I guess I can put up with it.
I wonder if TPTB saw my thread awhile back about product placements...
I think they should get with one of the wireless companies so they can get not only a new phone, but different phones. They could just do closeups of the phones to show the AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Altell, whatever.

Chelsea and Max were in the Cheatin' Heart and he pulled out a plate of what looked like boneless hot wings. She asked what they were. He said Tyson Anytizers and pulled out the box for the camera!

I hate that I missed that part. And I agree, they do play off each other very well. They are actually kind of *cough* cute.

I heard about this scene. Sounds a little cringe-inducing but then again Days is in a precarious position and needs all the financial help it can get I suppose.
And ITA about the phone noledays. I've never understood why the actors can't just use their cell phones in a scene. In fact at a board I frequent they call the cell phone the Salem Community Cell Phone or SCCP for short.

Even more reason for them to hook up with a wireless company.
I can see Victor coming up to Philip and giving him an Iphone. He would say something like, "A true businessman needs a businessman's phone." And they could discuss all the features of the Iphone and how you can only get it from AT&T.
Later, he and Steph are going out and decide they don't want to go to the same old restaurants they usually go to. Philip pulls out his Iphone and finds another restaurant. At the end of dinner, he pulls out his Iphone again to see what movies are playing and where.
Later, we see EJ whining to Stefano, "But Philip's dad bought him an Iphone...why do I have this old do-nothing phone?" We then see Stefano and EJ going into the AT&T store to get him an Iphone.
Man...that's a episode right there...and AT&T would be footing the bill!

Like I said though...idiotic and cheesy it may be...but if it's the only way to save Days...I'll put up with it. I just wish it was a little more subtle. You know, the bottle of Joy or Dawn in the background while Max washes glasses...the closeup of the phone with the wireless carrier's name on it...pulling out the carton of Tropicana juice from the fridge and perhaps drinking from the carton. A while back they had a fake neon beer sign that was clearly meant to be Budweiser. Why didn't they just get Bud to pay and put the real thing? Maybe we could just see Max putting the Planters peanuts, or the Goldfish in the bowls on the bar and the tables.
Actually...this really is beginning to look like the way to make Max's character serve a purpose!

I don't think they really have the option of picking and choosing who pays for product placement. They have to work with what's offered. I mean, who advertises during the show? Tyson, Midol...and KY Jelly. (Passions fans got to see that plenty!) If it was as easy as wanting someone to pay, we'd all be millionaires, right?
And it's not just daytime. All of primetime does this too. Come on - American Idol and Coke?

I was in my doctor's waiting room yesterday and One Life To Live was on the TV. In the course of two phone conversations I saw three different cell phones being used. And one was an obvious Blackberry. I couldn't tell you what was happening in the scene but I did notice their cell phones.
