Thats just part of the writers MO. They love to kill off all none Season 1 characters. Maya, Monica, and west are effectively gone. All that leaves is Doyle and Flint (I guess Utsu could count.. sorta)and hey, the seasons not over yet! There is still plenty of time to kill them off, along with all the season 3 characters. Thats one of my pet peeves about this show. Instead of following the comic tradition of building a rogues gallery and a cast of supporting characters, they kill off everyone.
I liked Daphne. She and Mat had the possibility of taking over the comic relief role whenever they decided to take a serious note with Hiro and Ando. The thief and the cop, the speedster and a man's who spirit totem is a turtle. The supper powered couple trying to have a "normal" relationship could have been good for several episodes worth of fun.
What a waste. At least they gave her a proper send off.

they could have done so much more with her character and they just kill of everyone who was not in it from the beginning. i say kill off ali larter for good. i mean come on she has three different characters and they cant bring in one character to stay longer than a half of a season. i say hiro goes back in time and saves her. its that easy.

I think they killed her off so Matt could go back to Janice. And the baby. Nice happy family.

But then they could save everyone, and people not saved would make fans go "Why didn't they save ___?"

I feel bad for her dying but it makes you appreciate the character more...and at least they show some compassion when they killed her off as opposed to how they killed off Elle...I'm still pissed about that...

Oh man, I really didn't know that was Matt who was in her head trying to give her a last gift. So sad.
I thought it was Sylar or some other bad hero try to kill Daphane because I knew Matt couldn't fly right.
This was truly sad. I loved her character.

While I totally agree that they shouldnt so quickly get rid of the characters that werent in season 1, but in order to get to the future we all so badly want to see, they have to. Matt is a very bitter person in the future, and he wouldnt be that way if daphne had lived. They played it very well and it was a very nostolgic end. One not to be forgotten. I don't think that they will have Hiro going back and trying to save anyone, he knows better that it just turns to sadness anyway.

I almost cried as well and I didn't even like her character very much. This is the magic of Bryan Fuller. And yeah that was all in her head.

It's a shame she had to go. I have always liked speedster characters and I liked her backstory. I wasn't real fond of the Matt-Daphne storyline, but I loved her scenes with Hiro and Ando.

Yeah, I'm not even so sure they were really at a hospital. They showed Mohinder trying to take care of her at the end, and it looked alot like the background of the Statue of Liberty if you look around the scene with Matt standing over Daphne.
I believe that is their new hideout most likely, and Matt brought her there and fabricated everything so she could go out peacefully and at ease instead of knowing the truth.

I'll miss her, but they gave her a good last episode. There was also that pesky thing with her being able to travel through time when supercharged; given the new ban on time travel, she was probably doomed.

I know. I really loved that character. If they were going to kill her off, they just should have left her dead after she was shot. Don't tease me by making me think that one of my favorite characters is going to survive the gunshot, only to have her die a couple episodes later. That was just mean. It really made me angry.
