Kevin Alejandro stars as gang detective and family man, Nate Moretta, in NBC's new drama series "Southland."

Alejandro has become one of Hollywood’s standout new faces. He has recently taped guest-appearances on a variety of television shows including NBC’s "Heroes," "Sons of Anarchy," "Weeds," "Burn Notice" and "Eleventh Hour."

Alejandro could be recently seen in the drama "Shark" alongside James Woods. He played Danny Reyes, a street-smart, tough prosecutor specializing in organized crime in the Los Angeles District Attorney's high-profile crime unit. Alejandro is also known from hit series "Ugly Betty," in which he played Justin’s evolving father Santos. In addition, he starred as a series regular in the drama "Drive" as car thief Winston Salazar. He also appeared as a series regular in the second season of Showtime’s Emmy Award-nominated "Sleeper Cell: American Terror,"” in which he starred as Puerto-Rican converted Muslim terrorist.

Among Alejandro’s additional television credits include guest-starring roles on "The Cleaner," "Big Love," "CSI: Miami," "24," "Alias," "Without a Trace," and "CSI: New York." Alejandro has appeared in various independent and major feature films, including "Strange Wilderness," opposite Steve Zahn. He will soon appear in Wayne Kramer’s immigration drama "Crossing Over" with Harrison Ford. He also starred in the web series "Gemini Division" opposite Rosario Dawson.

Alejandro studied theater at the University of Texas and currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son.

I love how both Nate and Sammy have been so parental/protective of Janilla. It shows that they are everything cops are supposed to be - protectors who are empathetic as well as strong.

I think there will be some great story lines ahead with Nate and Sammy.
