Aziz Ansari stars as Tom Haverford, the self-serving colleague of Leslie Knope (series star Amy Poehler) in the new NBC comedy "Parks and Recreation." The new series is a half-hour mockumentary that looks at the exciting world of local government.

Ansari is poised for 2009 to be his breakout year with a new television series, a trio of films, and a headlining comedy tour.

Before the new series premieres, Ansari will appear in a handful of features. He recently began production on Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy "Funny People," opposite Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill, and also has roles in "I Love You, Man" with Paul Rudd, and opposite Rogen and Anna Faris in "Observe and Report."

Ansari is best known for his role on MTV’s hit sketch comedy series, "Human Giant." The series is based around comedy sketches performed by Ansari, along with Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer. Many of their sketches have become Internet sensations and have popularized the trio with young people all across the U.S. Last year, Ansari also had a memorable guest-starring role on "Flight of the Conchords," in which he portrayed a racist fruit vendor. He can also be seen in a multi-episode arc on "Scrubs."

Ansari recently announced his "Glow in the Dark" Comedy Standup Tour which will see him criss-cross the country performing his buzzed about standup act. In 2005, Rolling Stone named him their choice for Hot Standup on their annual "Hot List," and he was also awarded the Jury Award for Best Standup at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in 2006.

Ansari currently resides in Los Angeles.

Hey, Aziz!

If you read this, I love the Twitter, but stop making me salivate with your invitations to join you at places and things like FAST AND FURIOUS and whatever you are going to eat, and Jenna Haze, and other stuff, however I am stuck in Philly!

When you go on tour, how about allowing some of the Philly crowd to ride along and we will show you food, though you may have to supply Jenna Haze.

Aziz, you're awesome!

I've known about the dude for over a year now, and let me say, he's incredible. The instant I found out he was gonna be in this show, I went nuts.

Oh yeah, he has a hilarious website too! ( I don't think I'm allowed to post the url)

Aziz was great on human giant. It sucked that mtv canceled that show. I don't think mtv was their demographic for human giant.

Hi Aziz, I've been looking for more acting work and got myself into an agency, but I was told background acting makes me stick out like a sore thumb. Any suggestions? Although brief and short lived, I appreciated your guidance in P&R as "Victor Miles". I found it EXTREMELY hard not to say anything to Amy (Leslie) as she shook my hand and greeted me, but I guess that's what all the big bucks are about. TALKING.
I had great fun both days and really enjoyed the professionalism and fun that went on during the filming.
I have posted my latest photo shoot here so check it out and let me know if there's any openings on "Sons Of Anarchy", "War Of The Worlds - One Man Show", "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly - Revisited" or any scenes needing a Maitre-D.
Hope to see you soon on set !!!

Hi John,

After reading your post, I clicked on the avatar to the left of it. One would expect that to be linked to where you had posted your photos. Instead that link (shown below) leads to a profile page that has your name, but little else:
http://boards.nbc.com/nbc/index.php?showuser=360062

The profile page that has your photos is actually located over here:
http://my.nbc.com/JohnKaye

When you registered, you put your photos on that page. Later, when you posted, your avatar was linked to the other page, one that you may not have ever seen.

When I first registered here, I noticed (after some initial confusion) that the same thing had happened to me. In my first post I referred to something I'd put on my profile page and then couldn't find it when I clicked on the avatar that was next to what I'd posted.

There seems to be two profile pages for each user: one at myNBC.com, the other one at boards.nbc.com. I'm not sure why there are apparently two profile pages. I certainly don't want to spend time maintaining two profiles when one should be sufficient.

I'm reminded of the line "It's not a bug; it's a feature."

Perhaps someone could explain the feature.

Aziz was great on scrubs as the slacker intern and he's great on this show as well. He's by far the funniest character even though he doesn't have many lines. he's awesome.

Aziz went to see STAR TREK in IMAX the other night, only to find that not all IMAX screens are the same. He had previossly experienced IMAX on a 70 ft screen, which has always been my thinking about it. IMAX is supposed to be overwhelmingly big.

However, IMAX has taken to calling a 25 ft screen "IMAX" as well, which is kind of ridiculous, since the compnays name has always been synonomous with huge screens,

Aziz had been blogging about it, and has gotten into a verbal battle with IMAX, and he is starting to have a major effect.

Check on these links and then spread the word, because he is absolutely right.

BTW, all he asked for was the $5 premium that he paid for an "IMAX" ticket that was essentially a "faux IMAX" experience.

Moviegoers beware - objects in front of you may turn out to be much smaller than you anticipated. Does size matter? When you're talking about the size of your IMAX screen, evidently it does.

Seems like every time you turn around there's a new "enhanced annoyance technique" that makes you wonder just what kind of idiots are running the asylum. It would only have taken a nickel's worth of sense to have branded the new, smaller IMAX screens as something OTHER than true IMAX - "IMAX Digital" for example. This was actually suggested by theater owners.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Trying to squeeze an extra nickel's worth of profits often backfires and this case is yet another example. Now Aziz et al are on the warpath and IMAX is taking the heat. Is this as bad as the New Coke (1985)? Or, farther back, the Ford Edsel (1958)?

Probably not. Still it's yet another reminder of what can happen when greed is mixed with stupidity.

More info can be found at the "Destroy Fake IMAX" blog where there's even a link to a user generated map showing which IMAX screens are real and which are fake: IMAX caveat emptor!

Aziz Ansari is a really talented guy. Hope the show lasts long enough to showcase that. I enjoy his twitter as well, LOL. Amy and Aziz are the reason I watch this show.
