Full Version: REAL P&R community success & clashes
NBC > Primetime > Parks and Recreation
BeachGreg
Your Parks & Recreation has very real opportunities yet its government competition with private interests, no pun intended, finds many clashes, especially how to succeed creatively or to make money or staffing one time projects. Share your observations!

Our P&R really wants the success of a private citizen's parties on the beach that have been going off and on for years centered around physical competition or fun. At least they have found out how to scrape some money off the activity: charging for "free parking" when they did not before and also tried years before closing it down with beer laws and Sickin the health department on it's food handling! This year this inspiring activity has a clone on another day! How fun! Is it P&R's or another private citizen's? That may determine it's motives and success!!!(?)

My experience isn't with a P&R per say, but is with the local political establishment as a kid. The meetings were dull, boring, took place is dumpy little rooms and barely anyone showed up. And no, just because I was a kid doesn't mean that I thought it was tedious just because.... well I was 13!
But the buerocracy was intense! Nothing ever got done and there was no passion, ugh! What a waste it seemed liek to me. And not to mention the only people that took part were over 50 and have been in the system for decades and only contributited to the staleness. laugh.gif

Not about P&R, but work at City Hall in San Francisco and there is this guy who shows up every week to the Board and Committee Meetings and sings his comments - a different song each week. He just finished "You Light Up My Life" which had something to do with jobs. ([i]you light up my life, you give me jobs, etc..). Not sure if he is on youtube, but maybe I will post it. Lots of characters here in CA local government.

How about spoofing the experience from a government consultant.....

They needed the "consulting" in quality assurance and project management. Then come to find out they needed the consultant (at $100.00/hr) to set up meetings and take meeting minutes in one of the most unproductive meetings ever (and other administrative tasks) ...i guess there is too much "red tape" for them to do administrative work themselves so they can be planning the next unproductive project...and they wonder why the govenment has such a huge deficit................unbelievable
