Exclusives: LA Crime Map/From its founding almost 230 years ago, Los Angeles has been a city of dreams and dreamers. Unfortunately for some, those dreams turn out to be nightmares. A police force of fewer than 10,000 tries to keep the peace among four million residents spread across 500 square miles—a Herculean task. Here are some of the scenes and stories of city life gone bad.

Southland’s Rookie Hero/A ride-along on an officer’s first day/It's not every assignment that puts you in the back of a squad car, especially one that gives you a true glimpse into the hearts of the heroes behind the badge. HEY!!!
How come there are no bios??? I am sure some of these young actors are fresh out of the box... but I know I've seen some of these folk before... and it is a nice place to start.
Ranger69

I found and read the BIOS and found them very informative, only missing in no personal stats.

They are still building the site...post what you want to see here and we can pass those thoughts along.

The map feature does not load for me. I have tried multiple times.
AzizalSaqr
I get a loading message on it, but it could be a glich, I'll pass the message along to QA.

Thanks, JD

The Map feature seems to be working now.

I love this show, and I don't gravitate to scripted crime shows too often. This is the only show I look forward to watching anymore.

As a true crime buff, I am especially curious if anyone can post on the show site any more in-depth information as to the significance of the pictures used during the opening credits? I think most of them are famous Southland crime scenes, and I recognize a few of them (The Night Stalker, of course, and I believe there is one taken of a Hillside Strangler dumpsight.) I am personally curious about them, and I think it would be an addition that would easily correlate with the site's Southland infamous crime scene interactive map.

I think the show site is great, though. I am anxious for NBC.com to adopt it into it's site lineup so we can have it as one of our options when choosing profile banners and the like. This show is a keeper. It is time to adopt it into the fold.

Thank you for hearing my suggestions and providing us with the forum to make them.

If you look on the website, you can pull down a map under "exclusives" which details those various crimes.
BluDhalia92
I did see those, but I could not tell if they were the same as those depicted in the opening credits. Very interesting, though.
AzizalSaqr
I'd be surprised if all of the ones in the credits aren't on the map, but, I didn't tape them to compare...
BluDhalia92
The interactive map does have pictures - I think that feature totally rocks, btw - but those pictures are not the same as the opening credit photographs, so one has no way of knowing if they are connected or not.

I know I am being picky, but I live in East Hollywood and I was surprised to see on the interactive map a crime from the show located two blocks from my apartment. It was the location of the abandoned baby from the episode Mozambique. The interactive map has it around the corner of Fountain and Kingsley, however when I watched the episode I recognized the baby is actually around the corner of Sunset and N McCadden Pl. I know that seems stupid and picky, but I am just disappointed if the locations are randomly placed on the maps. It would be fun if they are actually placed where the crimes were filmed.

My two cents.

Zombiequest

That's a decent thought if you live close to all the action.. but I'm not sure they have permits to film in any location they want to without having to shut-down the area or fear for actors in a bad neighborhood.. sometimes it's just easy to show one street and call it another if it's similar enough and put where it's "suppose" to have happened on the map, instead of on a plush lot where it was actually filmed smile.gif

This show is so good. Each character is so unique. I'm so happy it's going for another season. Can't wait for season 2. I love Dewey I just wish he would get his act together!
