For those of you who are interested, Bob has been posting daily tips and challenges on his Facebook page.

THe challenge he gave us for the weekend is we have until Sunday night to do 200 squats. We also have to get a friend to do them with us. If we can't find a friend to do them with us, WE have to do the additional 200 squats. I've already done 100 of them (I'm so feeling it). So, who's with me? Someone PLEASE have pity on me so I don't have to do 400 squats. I'd end up in a wheel chair for a month! rolling.gif

Hi hairgoddess. I know it's too late (I wasnt on line this weekend) but I accepted your challenge and have started my 200 squats.

Hope you survived the weekend!
hairgoddess
^^^ Thanks! I did 400 squats in a 24 hour period and it still hurts to sit down. LOL

OK, I told Bob over on Facebook that I would post the challenges over here so more people can see them. Here's yesterday's challenge: do 5000 EXTRA steps today. That is aproximately 2 miles, depending on the size of your stride, and that is in ADDITION to what you already do.

Today's challenge hasn't been posted yet and I have to leave for work, so if anyone gets the challenge before I do, feel free to post it here. Otherwise, I'll post it when I get home from work this evening.

Veebs, is there somewhere we can post these challenges so they don't get buried?
hairgoddess
Here's the next challenge that Bob has posted on his Facebook page:

QUOTE
Today I want you to get one serving of protein, around 15-20 grams, from a plant based protein. Part of your challenge is to find the many different sources that are out there and share with us what you had. Get your friends to join in!!!

He also posted additional info about finding plant based protein:

QUOTE
Just so you know, tofu is a staple in my diet. I eat it almost every day. Nuts are good too but make sure you limit your amounts, 1-2 SMALL handfuls. If you have never tried Tofu....today is the day.

And if you would like to get the challenges first hand, here is Bob's FB fan page

Thank you for posting the link to his site. I had not been able to find it!
hairgoddess
^^^ You're welcome, nutterbutter!

Here's the next challenge from Bob:

QUOTE
Today's Challenge is all about ARMS! You gotta do 75 bicep curls, preferably with hand weights but if you don't have them, use anything in your office or home to curl THEN 75 tricep dips off of a bench or chair. Your arms are gonna LOVE ME!! Get someone new to join our challenges TODAY!

In a later post on his fan page, he warns that we'll need our energy for the next challenge coming up.

BTW, He posts these challenges after I leave for work, so anyone who is on his fan page, feel free to help me post these so you get them earlier in the day. I can cover Monday's since I don't have to work. smile.gif
vbarkley
Heck, we do that many in the workout during the show. Maybe we need to step it up a bit. biggrin.gif
hairgoddess
OK, brace yourselves! Here's Bob's next challenge:

QUOTE

Umm... I'm thinking no on the resting part.

I completed the challenge, plus I walked a mile on a break at work, AND I did Cardio Max after I completed the interval challenge. I'm whooped!

Hey, guys. How about posting some feedback? Who's got the challenges completed?
vbarkley
I confess I have not done 1 challenge.
hairgoddess
^^^ Veebs, I think we need to sic Bob on you!

Here's the weekend challenge:

QUOTE

Yes, they are on his fan page. First, be sure you have the right one. There is an impostor fan page. The real one is the same picture as his personal page, which is a black and white photo. If the picture has him wearing a blue shirt, that's the impostor one. I put a link to Bob's fan page a few posts up.

Once you know you are on Bob's fan page, under the "share" button, there is a button that says "filters". Click on that, then select the tab that says "just Bob Harper". That will show you only the posts Bob made. That's where he is putting the challenges. smile.gif
hairgoddess
Here's today's challenge. I think he's trying to kill us! LOL

QUOTE
Hey everyone... todays Challenge. You gotta do 50 Military Presses, 50 side raises AND 50 front raises. It's all about shoulders today. If you have hand weights great, if not, use something around your house. Have a great day...xoxo

Wow that's great. What kind of weights do you use? (i.e. #of lbs)

First rotation I use 10 lbs, second rep I go to 5, then back up to the 10 for the last rep. For the extra 20 each for Bob I used the 5 lbs .... And I am feeling it! LOL!!

That's really awesome. I'm doing Jillian's 30 day shred with 4 lbs because those are the ones I have and I haven't gotten aroung to getting heavier ones. Although I am hesitant about it since my doctor recommended that I not lift weights since I have a wrist condition. But even with the 4 lbs weights Jillian's workout is brutal. LOL.

Thanks!

I use 5lb weights, my dad uses 3 and my mom uses 1. They don't get that many reps in, but it's a lot easier if you do 25 twice a day instead of 50 all at once. smile.gif

It took a slow build up to get to where I am. I started off with soup cans and only did one set of 10. I then went to one pound weights, then three, five, now ten. Weight days are also my "walking" days. 15 minutes of walk, then one set with weights, then a rest. Repeat. Repeat. And then I finish up with my last 15 minute "walk". I try to do 6000 deliberate steps on "walking" day, which isn't always easy with my leg problems. Sometimes it takes almost all day to do the walk. The other three days I do an hour of pilates, chair squats, etc and my bouncy ball cardio. That's the fun stuff - at least the bouncy ball with rock n roll blasting!! LOL.
hairgoddess
I finished the challenge after cleaning for 12 hours today. I spent most of hte day doing heavy lifting and lugging heavy garbage bags out to the curb (for garbage pick up). My back and shoulders are killing me! I'm gonna have fun cutting hair tomorrow.

But, we can take comfort in the fact that Bob says he's sore today, too! rolling.gif (Is it wrong that I'm amused by that?)

I just discovered Bob's FB page today.
And unfortunately I have already eatin foods with sugar,
Therefore I will do yesterdays Arm/Shoulder challenge..
Starting now.

Annnnnd.
Sort of done.
I did the 50 Military presses.
But only 25 of the other two exercises.
It was harder then I thought!
I shall do the remaining ones later.
Mary_W
For those who don't have Facebook. Today's challenge:

QUOTE
Tuesday's Challenge... absolutely NO sugar today except from fruit. Check the nutrition facts on your foods and stay away from high fructose corn syrup and any other sugar additives like sucralose. Good luck!
nutterbutter2706
I read the challenge to late as well. Being in a different time zone, makes it tough for eating challenges.
I had 1 small piece of chocolate...opps....

I did yesterday's challenge and it is alot tougher than it sounded. I am going to try and continue the arm presses every other day. biggrin.gif

Anyone else doing Bob's Challenges?

It's a way for me to do cardio that I made up since I have leg problems that make it difficult for me to do any running, jumping, etc. I took a Swiss ball and glued a handle made of heavy material on it. When I do cardio I put on fast music, sit on the ball and bounce around like a rabbit! LOL! There used to be balls like this made for kids to play with. There is an animated comcast commercial that shows some kids bouncing down a street. I can get a pretty good cardio workout without having to worry about taking a fall. And that is the Bouncy Ball Workout! Best of all, it's fun!

It wasn't that long ago they were sold...my grandchildren received them for Easter last year (or maybe the year before, but I think it was last year...oh, where does the time go...where does my memory go...but I digress). You might still be able to find them, but I haven't seen them for a while.
hairgoddess
Thanks, Mary, for posting the challenge. Bob usually posts them after I leave for work. I did see it this morning before I left, but my computer decided to not cooperate this morning. I had sugar on my cereal before I saw the challenge.

I know! Nicole from season 4 already yelled at me for it. blush.gif

QUOTE
Today is a CORE CHALLENGE!! Get on your elbows and toes, elbows below your shoulders, body straight like a push up and HOLD that position, beginners 30 seconds, advanced 1 minute. You have to do this 7 times today!! Keep your ab's tight and back flat. BTW, isn't Kristen the BEST!!! That girl is amazing and I LOVE HER!
LiveForLife
Those are kind of tough.
I've done 2 so far, both for 30 seconds.

5 more to go throughout the day.

Thanks for explaining! It sounds like a lot of fun. I am going to try and make one and give it a try. I hurt my knee and I have been very limited on how I can do Cardio. Any other "fun" suggestions?

This one isn't as fun, but it works. We got one of the cheaper bicycle machines (it's plastic, but it turns when the pedals are cranked). He mounted it to a table for me. I use my arms to turn it. It gets my heart rate up, gets
me sweating, and helps build up the arms. Upper body strength is important for me since there is a chance I might wind up in a wheel chair.
LiveForLife
Just finished my seventh one. I even did the last one for 1 minute as opposed to 30 seconds. I had a little Bob and Jillian on my shoulder yelling at me. It worked.

Can't wait for tomorrows challenge.

I don't have all my planks done yet. WOW! They are really hard! After about 15 seconds, my whole body is shaking and I can definitely feel my abs after finishing just one!

Next time you do planks try this modification for added pain! From the plank possition bring you left knee in to you chest & return to plank. Then bring in your right knee. Whoa!
hairgoddess
Bob just posted another challenge:

QUOTE
Here's your Challenge... As part of Green Week you must do one thing for the environment. Your choice. ANYTHING. Being conscious of the Earth's needs and her protection for our kids and their future. Recycle. Walk to work. Ride your bike instead of driving. Unplug everything you're not using in your house. Plant a tree. Come up with something and let me know how creative you got...xoxo

Here is Bob's Friday challenge.

"Friday is an Abdominal Challenge. You have all day to give me 300 ab crunches in any variation you want as long as you give me 300. Remember, a strong midsection helps improve posture it also helps to strengthen your back so get to work..xoxo"
nutterbutter2706
Thank you so much for posting this in the morning!! I can not access facebook at work and I hate finding out too late in the day. I am on EST. On that note....300 crunches!! Yikes..... Can we say SORE
Schnellvaggio
I already feel sore...
i did 200 crunches, 200 bicycles, and 50 leg lifts (w/ ab straps)....what was I thinking?!?!
then I did a leg workout and then the treadmill for some interval training
finished off with a nice relaxing steam bath and then a protein smoothie....

now it's time to enjoy the 80 degree weather here in the midwest!!
hairgoddess
I've got 200 done so far. OMG! I didn't get home from work till 10pm, so I'm having to get these all in at once instead of spreading them out! I was too busy at work to do any there.
