Full Version: A six episode season!? is this a joke!?
NBC > Primetime > Parks and Recreation
Danpascooch
I recently saw a commercial while watching Saturday Night Live on 5/9/09 and it said that this thursday would be the Parks and Recreation season finale, I couldn't help but think: Is NBC kidding? who makes a six episode season? if they expect us to wait for a whole new season after six shows then I have a message for NBC, this show was good, not amazing, and im not going to watch it in six episode spurts every year or so.

There is precedent for this. Remember that the first season of The Office was only 6 episodes. Also, many British series run only 6 episodes per season: a good example is Fawlty Towers.

^^^It was a trial run kind of thing. Next season will be longer.

I'm a little concerned because I like the Everly Brothers. I've never seen them in concert though.

And OMG - Tom has a hot wife! rolling.gif

I like it when you serve me food?! Way to go, Andy.

Mark is kind of a dick. Hitting on Ann, kissing Leslie and then telling her it's not a big deal if they hook up? mad.gif

He deserved to fall in the Pit.

He deserved to fall in the Pit.

I hope he broke both of his legs.

Tonight's episode showed that P&R was finishing the season with a bang (almost).

Leslie's mom sets her up with George, a distinguished older gentleman. As George puts it: he gets "very positive signals" from her.

Wow!

Bald headed old geezers from coast to coast perked up at this dramatic new plot twist. Leslie clearly needs a mentor and George clearly wants to give her a hand and possibly more.

Tonight's best line, Aziz referring to a nodding George at the rock show: "Dead or asleep?" Perhaps George would do better with Leslie if the next date is scheduled earlier in the evening.

Of course all of this was overshadowed when Mark fell in the pit!

If he did break both legs, that would set up a "Leslie tends to a helpless Mark" storyline, who would then take over the "man in a cast on a couch" role from Andy.

We'll all have to watch the extended "Producer's Cut" that's going to be posted online tomorrow.

I wonder if that will include a mind's eye view of how George imagines a perfect ending to his date with Leslie:
[Insert the "Wayne's World" dream sequence sound effect here "doodley-o-doo, doodley-o-doo, doodley-o-doo"]
"George gazes lustfully at Leslie. Leslie eagerly returns his gaze and then..."

Now, more than ever, we wonder what the new P&R season will bring!

Yeah, mark is a jerk.. but a loveable one. I think P. S. is fantastic as this character. Reminds me of his role in All the Real Girls. Which I fell in love with too.. Happy to see him on T.V. Interesting writer as well. Check out his website for some very interesting and completely off the beaten path imagery and writing..

Ron and his ex-wife's sister: it's like a fairy tale! rolling.gif

I was also digging Scare Crow Boat/Mouse Rat/Threeskin/etc. I like the name Ninja Dick too. The Pit and Ann Song...instant classics! Andy's easily my second favorite character behind Ron.

Pretty good season finale. Got some laughs, got some emotion...a good wrap to a decent 1st Season. Looking forward to Season 2!

Enjoyed seeing all the Upland (Bloomington, IN Brewery) glasses and taps in the bar. Nice for them to bring in a little bit of Indiana after botching the DMV last week. In Indiana it's the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, not the Department.

The joke is that the show is even on the air in the first place. I hope next season actually has some humor in it.

Nice catch on the BMV. I missed that one. Of course we always just called it the "license branch" where I grew up.
