Hi, I'm Anja with Hispanics in Philanthropy. We thought we'd do a "virtual" viewing party and share our thoughts since we're actually... in... philanthropy. So far so good. And good buzz from the non-profit community. We heard about it through the Chronicle of Philanthropy and the Council on Foundations.

Really like the show, hope to see more shows to come.
I'm glad that Bobby Sager story is being portrayed on TV now.
I hope that others come to a better understanding of how poverty and sickness affects the world, and that we have a duty to help others.

Hello from the Nez Perce Rez in NorthCentral Idaho! My name is Kathryne. This first show elicited an emotional connection that I do not easily get from a television show. The scene where he notices the little boy amid the chaos of the flood catastrophe and then, selflessly jumps in to save the boy was key for me, but when they surfaced and held each other like long lost father and son (and it seemed so honest) I was on the way to being hooked. As the story developed further I realized that I was witnessing, if this series can stay true to form, an action packed, thought provoking, unique show that will cause us to be entertained, as well as to consider 'acting' one-step-at-a-time towards helping others with the realization that we ultimately help ourselves. That seemed to be the lesson in this particular episode. I hope this series maintains its integrity and energy and that the network is smart enough to keep it on the roster.

We get TV shows a week late out here on the Island of Saipan in the Western Pacific, so I just saw first episode of Philanthropist last night. How thrilled to be able to watch the talented James Purefoy (Purejoy) again. I try to catch any show he is in. Have watched both seasons of ROME more than 12 times and will continue to every few months. Someone dropped the ball by not making Mr. Purefoy the best James Bond ever. I wish him all the very best and thank him for entertaining us. NBC, thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing this series to us. djc

Hi, I'm Kelly from Florida. I really enjoy the show and hope it's picked up for another season. I love first run series in the summer - I get very tired of re-runs.
I originally tuned in to the show because of Jesse L. Martin, but have gotten caught up in all the characters and the premise of the show.
Keep up the good work and NBC, leave your hands off the plug!

Hi I'm Janice and I live in Iowa. I agree with Kelly from Florida. NBC, leave you hands off the plug. I was hooked on the first show. Don't know if it was the show or the star but I do like it.
Does anyone know who this show is suppose to be based on? I heard it was based on a real philanthropist. I had no idea they could be this caring. Either way I do hope it is successful. I know it is in my book.

Hi. My name is Greta and I am a huge fan of "The Philanthropist". This is the best show I can remember in a very long time. It is smart, sexy, and most importantly socially relevant with some humor thrown in. The casting is "spot on" with the lead, James Purefoy, being so believable and sympathetic with the twist of a grieving father. Several episodes made me cry. The sad thing is there are not enough episodes. And now rumors of cancellation? If they sit on that decision too long these actors will be otherwise employed. Please, please NBC give this show a chance--as well as the proper promotion it deserves. Give it a time slot like Wednesdays that STAYS. This is a real winner. I am sure if you check the demographics you are reaching a large number of well educated, affluent people. I am 49. And to advertisers that should show that I am at a point in life where I can afford what I want. My 21 year old daughter---whose demographic advertisers like--is a college student who cannot afford whatever she likes. (Plus she watches little TV). I have numerous baby boomer friends who LOVE this show. PLEASE give it a chance--now! 8 episodes is not enough of a chance. If there is anywhere else a fan such as myself can write to save this show please point me in that direction. I saw no way to write to NBC from their website.

Hi! My name is Marcela. I'm Colombian and future social worker (working on the masters degree now). I've loved the show and am fascinated to see how the characters are having "enlightening" moments and maturing as the show goes on. I'm actually upset that the season is already over. I REALLY REALLY hope that the cancellation of the show end up being ONLY rumors. Besides loving to see different countries (and the not so touristy spots) I love seeing James Purefoy and Jesse Martin.

Hello.
Just want to introduce myself. I go by Dream_Big and I am very much now in trying to help others as best I can. Glad to see a show like the Philanthropist promoting something positive unlike what is mostly seen on TV today. I don't have the money or charming accent of the dear Teddy, but I have the can-do, let's get out as individuals and do something positive attitude.
I wish the show well.
And as always ___ Dream_Big

Hi. I'm Cindy. I have really enjoyed the show & I hope it continues! But the fact that the season was only 8 episodes really worries me. I think it has been very well cast - Purefoy, Martin & Campbell are all perfect in their roles. And I love that sometimes we get to see quite a bit of Williams in his Dax character.

Hello everyone. I'm from Canada, hence the nickname. I love, love, love the Philanthropist. Love the storey lines, the characters, the scenery - WOW - that must mean they will axe it???? sure hope not but it seems like all the wholesome shows get axed. What's with that?
I do have to say that with alllll his millions (I do realize it's not personal) he needs to get his teeth whitened. Now you'll all be looking at his teeth. Too funny.
Love the show!
Leave it alone!

Hi My Name is Case and I am from Canada
I have been around the world and taken back by the poverty that I have seen. I am so happy there is a show that supports ideas such as helping the poorest people with some action and humor without a reglious agenda. I think it will get people talking and help with charities or volunteering. You always see world vision but most people tune away because it seems nothing but sadness. I have been recommending the show for people to watch but I think you need more shows like the 1st 8 but we need more. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!! The world needs a show like this to get people connected to understand the world around them! Bravo for NBC for airing such a show!!! P.S I even donated to a charity online today after the Haiti show, with the Rice.

OK Obviously I'm not alone about LOVING this show - but perhaps too late to voice my strong desire to see more of this show. This is the smartest, coolest, most profound show NBC has EVER done! Surely people want more than reality tv and hospital or cop shows??? This one has a heart, a great script, terrific acting, cool characters and above all, meaningful content. Come on NBC - take a risk - this show is GREAT!
