Kidney Now!Jack begins to bond with Milton and seeks a way to help him get the kidney he needs. Meanwhile, people start seeking Liz out as a relationship expert as a result of the "That's a Dealbreaker" sketches, and Kenneth helps Tracy deal with his embarrassment over not finishing high school.

I am sooo looking forward to this episode tonight. The Preview was too funny. Elvis Costello is one of my favorite artists and Clay Aiken is terrific. I always thought that the resemblance between Clay and Kenneth was very close and that Clay could be written into 30 Rock as Kenneth's cousin AND HERE IT IS! smile.gif cool.gif laugh.gif

So when Alan Alda (Hawkeye from MASH) walks in to Jack's office he says something on the order of, "Babies and Chickens crying, I thought this was suppossed to be a comedy." I was so excited when i got this reference to the final episode of MASH in which Hawkeye recalls a woman smothering her "chicken" in order to prevent North Koreans from discovering them on the boss. In reality, the "chicken" was the woman's child and Hawkeye blocks it out of his mind. This scene was one of many memorable MASH moments that shocked viewers and took a step away from comedy for a moment to teach people about the atrocities of war. Anyway, who else caught this reference?

PS: MASH owns all TV shows

Did anybody else catch the "babies and chickens" similarities of a "M*A*S*H" episode about Hawkeye seeing a therapist and reliving when he was on a bus of Korean people hiding and this ladies chicken wouldn't shut-up so she suffocated it but when Hawkeye remembered it right it was actually her own baby she suffocated and Hawkeye kept crying "It wasn't a chicken, it wasn't a chicken!" I caught that right away, too funny!!

As a guy who is currently on the national waiting list for a kidney transplant, I would like to thank 30 Rock, the producers, writers and network for bringing light to such a meaningful topic. The other 100,000+ individuals on the list with me would certainly agree you have all done a great thing. Thanks also to the musicians who contributed to this project. Your starpower will definately turn this into an internet hit, and hopefully get the word out about the importance of this subject. Thanks especially to Miss Tina Fey for making this video for the whole world to watch, hopefully you have made a difference. I have always been a fan, but now, more than ever. Thanks to everyone else out there who may have made the decision to give someone else the Gift Of Life by donating a kidney.

Hey, this show was great. I recently learned that I really do need a kidney, and the comedic take on this subject was a breath of fresh air. But ... there's nothing wrong with a little real life after the show. I think NBC could've run a little public service announcement about the real need for kidneys in the united states. Whether you agree with living donation or not, it's something to consider. Just like the characters on 30 rock. Check out DonateLife.net

I'm glad someone else caught this. I was starting to think I was the only one who got the reference...I was watching it all alone so I had nobody else to show how smart I was for catching it either. I was laughing for a good long while from it.

Yep, I caught the reference. I had to explain it to my 19 yr old son and he looked at me like I was crazy.

Published: May 15, 2009

Music Video Clip Features Special Message From Tina Fey and Superstar Artists Sheryl Crow, Adam Levine, Mary J Blige, Elvis Costello, Clay Aiken, Norah Jones, Rhett Miller, Steve Earle, Rachael Yamagata, Moby, Michael McDonald, Wyclef Jean, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Randolph, Ad-Rock, Mike D and Talib Kweli

These Artists Along with Series Star Jane Krakowski Perform Original Song "He Needs a Kidney" Featured in Last Night's Season Finale Episode

NEW YORK – May 15, 2009 – NBC today released a special music video clip from NBC's "30 Rock" season three finale featuring a video message from show executive producer/writer/star Tina Fey and a star-studded musical performance of the original song, "He Needs a Kidney" on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com).

The music video clip is available on the iTunes Store in the US for $.99. NBC, Universal Media Studios and Apple will donate 100 percent of the proceeds of all sales to the National Kidney Foundation.

In the May 14 finale titled, "Kidney Now," Grammy award-winning artists Sheryl Crow, Adam Levine, Mary J Blige, Elvis Costello, Clay Aiken, Norah Jones, Rhett Miller, Steve Earle, Rachael Yamagata, Moby, Michael McDonald, Wyclef Jean, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Randolph, Ad-Rock, Mike D and Talib Kweli team up with Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) for a celebrity benefit concert in honor of Jack's father, Milton (guest star Alan Alda) who needs a new kidney. "30 Rock" music supervisor, Jeff Richmond, wrote and composed the song.

"The National Kidney Foundation is thrilled to partner with NBC, '30 Rock' and iTunes to raise awareness of the life-saving power of organ donation and funds to support key programs. The national transplant waiting list hit 100,000 this year for the first time, with 80,000 of those on the list waiting for kidneys. Most of these people will wait too long and too many will die while waiting," says John Davis, National Kidney Foundation CEO. "When a primetime, Emmy award-winning show tackles this issue, millions of potential organ donors will pay attention. The National Kidney Foundation looks forward to the opportunity to educate viewers about organ donation and to raise funds through the music video sales for our new END THE WAIT! initiative that will find solutions to the nationwide organ shortage and end the wait for kidney transplants within 10 years," continues Davis.

Separately, fans of the multiple Emmy Award-winning comedy, one of the most popular shows on iTunes, can purchase full-length episodes of "30 Rock" on the iTunes Store.

Hi All,
Just caught this episode over here in Holland (had to download, of course) and was shocked to hear the name of my little town - Hooglanderveen. Anyone know why of all obscure European towns they chose that one? I'm incredibly curious.
Thanks
John

Alda's MASH reference was hilarious. I got it immediately. It was a brilliant set-up and a great delivery.

The people they got to participate in the kidney now! song were extremely impressive. I'm glad so many great names came out to support the (real) cause.
