Grow up!
STUPID is more like it. If that's what it takes to host the Tonight Show, it's over. I thought I was watching a child, I was imbarressed for him. I didn't think anything was original, the cross country run was nothing new.
What age group are they targeting, the 5 to 8 year olds?
Grow up Conan, Johnny never acted stupid, silly sometimes, but he had class. I can see I'll be looking for something else to watch. What a shame!

The new set was fantastic. The color scheme is wonderful and a great nod to Conan's original show. I am glad to see Max Weinberg made the move to L.A. as well, and it was a nice surprise to see Andy Richter take on the role of the announcer.

Although Max looked kinda lonely over there. lol. I hope we get more interaction with him as the show continues. I am curious as to why the band is now called the Tonight Show Band and not the Weinberg 7.

The set has a great touch of class I would expect from the tonight show. I don't see Conan changing his style too much. I realize he not only has to appeal to his original audience, but he also has to appeal to a new audience.

All in all though I am very happy to see Conan back and now I can go to bed earlier. LOL.

Sotomayor is PuertoRican (u know Jennifer Lopez ) and although we are all Latino's we do not eat tacos, we eat rice and beans, but not tacos, those would be the Mexicans, and theres a difference. Also not that it makes a difference to white America, but Puert Rico is part of the United states.

And I think it's probably a smart idea to stay in the loop as a tour guide with all of the "issues" GM is having... your a great guide, who cares about the programmed can tour.... Turn that show on it's head! I'm 47.... been watching since.... well, the great JC. It was great then, but now it's a new age and time for a new path. Status quo needs to go! The Tonight Show needs some new blood! Make it so baby!

I see your point. However, I don't feel the need for the reference "White America." We are all Americans. I myself perceive the term "American" to include all races. For me, the term breaks the boundaries of color,race,creed,sexual orientation. I don't feel the need for an adjective to describe a particular American or a group of Americans. I think that once we stop using these modifiers we can overcome a lot of racial issues in this country.

Now on your point of the Joe Biden skit. Look at it from a different point of view. Most humor about Joe Biden has been his need to talk a lot and make off handed comments as well as making him look not so "bright". The joke wasn't about Sodemeyer. It was about Joe Biden and how he is not as "bright" and never shuts up. I don't feel the joke was aimed at the Latino group at all. It was aimed at Joe Biden.

Conans first night out was a total flop and disgusting. NBC went from Class to Trash when it preferred Conan over Leno. NONE of the material Conan presented last night even cracked a smile. DULL to put it mildly. The set was absolutely gorgeous but defintely the wrong captain at the helm. This will spell the end for the Tonight Show and America can go to sleep an hour earlier.

NBC executives are not known for wise decision making. This move is but another example why they are in last place in the ratings and will remain so. Jay Leno was entertaining to watch because of his natural talent, funny imagination and spontaneous wit, all of which is totally vacant in Conans character.

I agree in the sense that last nights show content was mild. However, it is just the first show.

Did you used to watch Late Nite with Conan?

I am sure Conan is just as nervous taking over the helm of the Tonight Show, but he is not as nervous as when he started his original show.

The Tonight Show has always been classy and the new set is no exception. Conan is know for zaniness and I expect the best is to come in time. He is someone you have to appreciate over time. Don't give up on him or the Tonight Show. He will grow on you.

About Jay Leno: I love Jay as well and each has a different form of comedy you can appreciate. I'm sure the executives didn't just come up with the idea to start anew. It probably came time for Jay to renew his contract and decided after 17 years he wanted to take a new direction himself.

I see you are a religious person and that is fine with me. I myself have different views on religion and I do not live my life by a book. I do however live my life based on principles of what I perceive to be right and wrong. My questions that I want to ask you are serious questions and not to be taken out of context as I am not trying to have an argument. I am just trying to have an intelligent and meaningful conversation. I joined this website today only for the purpose of commenting on the choice of Conan O'Brien for the Tonight Show. I only watched part of the opening monologue, and couldn't take anymore. He was not funny. Jay was so fun and funny and good with people. He can interview anyone, from a child star to a world leader. He has a quick wit, and is naturally funny. Conan just did not get my interest or make me laugh. The best part was the scenes of the United States.

This message is for NBC. I have watched the Conan show in the past, and everytime I watched his show, I found it so dull I would turn it off and watch somthing else. When I heard he was taking over the Tonight Show, I thought he may have gotten better. I watched the show last night, hoping there had been a big improvement, and all I saw was the same dull personality he has always had. I would think you would have gotton someone with major tallient. The Tonight Show stands for something special, It is an Icon and all you have done is thrown it in the toilet. There are many people out of work, but the person that should be out of work is the guy that hired Conan. You won't catch me watching the Tonight Show again, there are much better shows to chose from.

Watching the show last night, the two vertical silver elements over the guests right shoulder are terribly reminiscent of the World Trade Center twin towers in NYC. They are not a part of the photo, but rather posts or dividers in front of the photo, behind the chairs and desk. Nonetheless, they are an eerily haunting image and a grim reminder for what should be a fun show. There are similar vertical elements behind Conan, but they do not show up so boldly like they do over the guests shoulder during closeups. I'm sure this was not considered, but I encourage the stage designers to take a second look.

Oh give me a break. Leave it to a crackpot to come up with that!

the new set up for the tonight show was beautiful. great skill and talent went into putting it all together. as for conan obrien, he has no talent, he is not a true gifted comedian, and he uses annoying skits, and quick clips to entertain the audience. his jokes are flat, and i don't know what nbc was thinking when they gave him the spot. he will drag the tonight show host name down with him. his "come on people it was funny so laugh." mentality does not belong on the same stage as the tonight show. he belongs in a time slot of 2:30 a.m. where no one will watch him. i watched him several times over the years on late night with conan obrien, and my opinion was the same then as it is now. i waited to see if his staff can give him the edge he needs to suceed on the tonight show, and if this is what is to come, time to go back to dave letterman. jay leno, where are you? can't wait until september. the tonight show will never be the same, entertaining, enjoyable show it once was. thanks nbc....

goyachik i could not agree with you more. while i am latino, i am not mexican. i am puerto rican, and the caribean food is no where near that of the mexican cuisine. both are delicious! this goes to show you the lack of talent mr. obrien has as far as being a comedic host. this racial stereotypic comment in the form of a joke shows the ignorance and stupidity that both mr. obrien, and nbc share. i can't believe it was allowed on the air. thanks conan for making the tonight show a beginner's course in sociology.

I thought Conan did a great job last night.He kinda held back but didn't really change up his style which was great.It sounds like all the people who are complaining are an older generation.Leno is gone and Conan is for a younger crowd and you should go to sleep earlier and so you aren't so cranky.All the offended latino people keep an open mind don't take it personal.It's not like you aren't cracking jokes about white people.CONAN IS HERE TO STAY!

Why oh why Conan did you bring Andy Richter back? I stopped watching Late Night because of him and started watching again after he left. It was so much better after he left. He throws off your rhythm, Conan. You don't need him.

I give Andy two years and he'll be gone again... true fans will miss Mr. Goddard immensely, he was a cornerstone for Conan's success! I hope Conan doesn't lose his quirkiness - coming down a notch because of his timeslot. Also, when I watched Conan visit San Francisco, he just fit that city's persona. I know he was taking the 'Tonight Show' torch, I understand the 'Studio 1' location, but to leave the third* best city in the world to go to the eighth* is beyond my mind; San Francisco would of been a much better place to tape. Max is Max, and there too, I hope will not come down a bit from his level of humor.

As a fan, I want Late Night the same, just an hour earlier. Here, change isn't such a good thing.

It was the worst show ever ....... I only got to the end of the monologue.
That wasn't comedy ! Any two year old could match Conan in twisting his face around. His jokes weren't funny at all and Andy Ricther looked so dorky in a suit standind behind a pulpit. This pair might do well at children's birthday parties but will never live up to those that preceded him.

I'll be moving back to The Late Show with David Letterman.

Conan if your going to be in California and start bashing Republicans and start brown nosing the President and Democrats then i think you should've stayed in New York and be yourself. you where funny in New York and it seems that the political correctness that flows in California is already affecting you.

I watched the first episode of the Tonight Show with Connan And I have to say It's verry borring.

My first time on here. I have to comment on Conan's Tonight Show.

First, Love ya Conan, but remember where you are now. You have to be a bit more charismatic on this show, its expected.

I thought he was GREAT! I love the fresh energy he brings to the show, and I love the obvious effort writers and production are putting in. The set is beautiful, what an upgrade. And they are obviously bringing in the top A list guests while they gather a following, which is nice.
Conan is just so likable. I think we need that now because tv has gotten pretty depressing. I have been a Letterman fan for a long time, but I have started tuning into Conan. He's silly and funny and likable.
Don't change a thing. The show is a breath of fresh air!

Conan's show has been great but, now he need something to keep me and other metal fans interested your next musical guest needs to be Dethklok, Slayer, Austrian Death Machine, Pantera, or Steel Panther if you read this and agree with me than repost this message. I have to agree with Newbie..................Conan is no comedian, he is too much like David Letterman with his childish facial girations. His monologue was too distracting with his pacing back and forth plus the hand clapping Perhaps he never watched the masters of the monologue .....Jack Paar, Johnnie Carson and Jay Leno. Oh, those were the days of class, Conan just doesn't have it. Andy Richter is superflous.

I agree that the set is gorgeous, but the content is awful. NBC made a huge mistake by handing over The Tonight Show to Conan. He is tasteless.

Conan has made race and religion the center of his untasteful jokes. The guy has zero class and is doomed to mediocrity. His earlier time slot has put him in front of a more educated and mature audience which is proving embarassing for him.

He needs to go back to entertaining drunk and drugged insomniacs who used his show for nothing more than a night light.

I've watched Conan for years and love his show. However, his move to The Tonight Show is little more than his Late Night show somewhat dressed up. What a sham NBC is pulling on their viewers. The Tonight Show is simply moving to 10:00 pm with Jay and the Late Night show with Conan moved up an hour. Conan has made a few minor changes that hurt the show like bringing back his old sidekick and an intro musical piece with a screeching horn that's like fingernails on a blackboard. I'll continue watching Jay and Conan but I'm not fooled by this scheduling shell game.

NBC has pretty much ruined their late-night spot as far as I'm concerned -- instead of having something funny to watch after the news, now we have this moron - who is annoying and irritating-- nothing even slightly entertaining about the show--

I like Conan but I think Joel McHale from the E network would be a way better replacement for Jay Leno... He's just a better funny guy..... Hope he goe's big time !!!!

I wholeheartly agree!! Conan has absolutely NO charisma!! He is in no way funny, but rather dull. I'm very curious to know what he did to be able to get such a valuable primetime slot on NBC. I thank the technology gods for my remote control so that I can watch Letterman instead!!!!!!

I have to say I feel the same way. At least now I know why I never stayed up to watch his Late Night show. I know we will all catch flack for this but it's true. I have no idea where he gets his sense of humor and what kind of person finds him funny overall. Yeah there's something good now and then but overall...he's not the person that should be hosting a legacy talk show like The Tonight Show. I have switched to Letterman unless there is a specific guest I wanna see on The Tonight Show. I don't foresee the TNS lasting that long with Conan....I'm also curious whom else others might think would be a better host. I'll put Craig Ferguson somewhere in the list but not on top....he's kinda like Conan. I wouldn't mind Jimmy Kimmel...but it's still hard to say who could replace Conan but I think that's going to become necessary if others like me have switched to Letterman...and I have totally switched unless there's a specific guest I want to see.

I really have to be honest and tell you I absolutely hate the new set. Especially the back drop during the monolog. The original set should always be the home of the tonight show. The new set is cold and not personable...Conan is just not as good as Jay, and can't touch Johnny...It is either the set, or just he audience you can't hear the excitement. Especially tonight June 12th...horrible...Sorry but Conan has 2 tough acts to follow..Johnny and Jay...Jay did a better job filling Johhny's shoes, not sure if Conan can make it...should go back to N.Y.
