Full Version: Only EJ/James will do for me!

I accept NO SUBSTITUTES OR IMPOSTORS!!

James Scott is what brought me back to DAYS after nearly a 10 year absence and his chemistry w/ Ali Sweeney hooked me!!
James brought the craft of acting back to a soap that had been severely lacking in that area. After so many years of camp, come May 2006 enter James Scott, finally! A young actor that not only has beauty and braun, but brains and talent too!! PTB, it's a shame to see that now the only use you see for him is relegated to the back burner where he walks in and out of a room using the same dialogue and for that matter same story for the past 8 months or so. Surely we can do better, we must do better! James Scott deserves better, his fans deserve better, DAYS deserves better!

I totally agree Gina! smile.gif

James' acting talents are being wasted at the moment and it annoys me! mad.gif

If TPTB or James' want him have break from the show, could they at least send him on a business trip! Rather than having him look like a complete douche in the scarce episodes he is in, by repeatedly having him recite the same lines and making his character look like an idiot!!! mad.gif

IMO James is one of the best actors #DOOL has ever had and I am mortified at how little he is on the show now and that when he is, James is given very little decent scripts to work from. mad.gif

I am seeing this as a trend with some of the long-term actors on the show right now and it's ridiculous! I mean look what has happened to Bryan D's character of Lucas. He has barely been on in the last year and he is meant to be apart of this Daniel & Chloe love triangle!!! unsure.gif Meanwhile, the show keeps bringing in new actors all the time and whether they are there for short stints or not they are provided with some pretty decent writing and something worth watching!

I feel sorry for James and hate how his acting talents are being completely wasted during this tiresome, long-winded summer storyline!!!

End the madness please!!! I want #DOOL to remain on the air for many years to come and that means providing us the GA with the best storylines possible with the best calibre of actors. Well, #DOOL has one part of that equation the actors, so please provide them with scripts worthy of their talents wink.gif

DownInTheBoondocks
I disagree. His acting talent is finally being used correctly. Just look at the depressed, phoning it in Ej from the time he was being instantly whitewashed. It was clear to me he hated that tamed, ball-less good guy crap.

Enter AZ/Nicole. She was supposed to interfere in Phillip's life, but the attraction and chemistry between her and JS/EJ was clear. He roused up there! Back were the charm, the laughter, the smiles. I swear, he never smiled around Sami.

The nbc people are desperate to succeed. If ej and sami were such a "gold mine", you better believe that's what we'd get. If they "increased the ratings", that's what we'd get.
RockChic
I completely agree.
Jocastanu1999
I agree with you Gina & Dee!

DOOL was lucky to get James Scott when he left AMC. I had stopped watching DOOL at that point and was following AMC. I didn't have time for both and I enjoyed AMC more then. When Ethan died, I was very disappointed cuz I loved him & Kendall. I heard that JS was headed to DOOL and that he would be in Sami's storyline. As a longtime Sami admirer, I was very excited so I tuned out AMC and returned to DOOL.

And boy was I rewarded! Summer of 2006 and all of 2007 was just incredible! The return of the Dimeras! Lots of great stories with Sami & EJ & Lucas & Stefano & Celeste & Tony, just to name a few. DOOL was truly must-see.

Unless things improve at DOOL, I will return to Kendall Hart & co. and get my DOOL fix by watching old clips from 2006-2007 on youtube.

By improve, I specifically mean that DOOL cannot continue to become Passions 2. If I had wanted to watch Passions, I would have BEFORE IT WAS CANCELLED.

I love Eric Martsolf as Brady. Brady is a key character and should be utilized as much as possible.

James Scott and Eric Martsolf are the leading men at DOOL. No substitutes are acceptable.

I enjoy Brian Dattillo and believe he is a key part of the canvas. I do not like how he has been edged out of stories where he should obviously be.

Please, NBC. I want to enjoy DOOL for many years. Sadly, I see cancellation if TPTB continue how things are now.
KSlater
I agree with every post praising the talent of this actor. James Scott is a treasure.
DownInTheBoondocks
Apparently, there are people here who watched Passions. So what if the actors get a job on Days? Different characters and story. Or should I assume that since Brad Pitt was in Troy, every movie he makes from then on is another suck fest like Troy?
EziJWoof
I unequivocably agree Only James Will Do For Me.

When I first saw him with AS I thought in 2006, "finally a pairing I can love."

I have watched DOOL for 25 years on and off but the moment JS walked onscreen I have tuned in everyday to watch him or hoped that he'd be onscreen.

He is the best actor on DOOL in decades, he is one of the the best actors I've seen on daytime overall.

James Scott has crafted EJ DiMera into a multi-dimensional, vulnerable and enthralling character one that could have been so easily typecast as the one note unlikeable villian that readily we see with so many other characters on DOOL.

It is James Scott's wonderful powerful depiction of EJ DiMera that keeps me wanting more of him onscreen. Without James Scott as EJ DiMera I would have tuned out long ago.

The interaction of Alison Sweeney (Sami) and James Scott (EJ) has provided me with some of the most captivating scenes on tv in decades.

They are a pleasure to watch whether bickering, yelling or loving they have it all, the incredible chemistry that is by far unparalled.

Who can forget the Santeen scenes the way Colleen wiped Santo's brow, the way James ripped his shirt and hit his chest and said "This is who I am Colleen" or words to that effect. Who can forget the hottest love scene in daytime in May 2008 between EJ and Samantha? Who can forget the dance of the tango in 2006 on the Salem Pier? Who can forget the reveal of Grace to EJ-James portrayal of shock and disbelief the best I've ever seen on daytime tv ever. Who can forget the haunting memorable scene in the morgue as EJ cries over Grace's body? These are just to name a few there are so many!

There is no substitute only Only James Will Do for Me !

Well he hasn't made a good movie in a very long time. He is kind of sucking lately rolling.gif But he sure the heck was hot in Troy. drool.gif
I love EJ and Sami together. I don't care who they bring on the show. As long as they are writing for EJami, I'll continue to watch.
Gardenbunny
I hate how EJ has been written this past year because James is so much better than what they are giving him now.The way I see it EJ is the most talked about character on the show whether you love him or hate him he always gets the most buzz and you would think the writers would use that to their advantage.Sami and EJ are the couple for me and have been since day one and having a Brady fall in love with a Dimera could give the writers tons of good stories to write for them. But this tread is about James and my hope is that tptb wake up and see what they have right in front of them before someone else scoops him up and they lose one of the best actors they have every had.
berlingirl
I must say I agree! James Scott is one of the best new talents that Days has had in a long time. It not that he has a pretty face. He actual can act and not "phone it in". Which sadly seemed to be the case of other actors on the show at the time. (2006) I watched everyone who had a scene with him ,they couldn't get by with mediocre. They had to step up their game. It made the show more bearable to watch. The instant chemistry that Ali Sweeney had with him blow me away. It was like I had been in a coma and woke up suddenly. I have been watching Days since 1993 on and off. Ali was why I got interested in the show to begin with. We have added many more characters to the show. But James Scott is the only male actor on Days that is "Must see T.V." for me. drool.gif wub.gif
DownInTheBoondocks
Huh, he was in a coma after they turned him into Sami's lapdog. That was painful to see. Thank God they woke up and realized he is about a million times better as the Dimera heir and King of Evil than as Sami's bitch.

James Scott is one of the best actors remaining on this show,I tune in to see HIM,and his craft..he and Shawn Christian, are the ONLY reasons I remain.I want to see more of Ej,,and not same the same line over and over.Lets put the less talented back on the backburner and bring forth the real actors of this show..and yes..he and Ali have a amazing chemistry..and I want to see that.DOOL needs to do something, the ratings are in the toilet,,sad really..they have it all right there
DownInTheBoondocks
Now, now. You know ratings are not in the toilet. And you also know ratings reflect Safe is popular and ejami is not. I read the person's quite good analysis of the ratings on fl and you have seen the truth. Is this an attempt to convince the execs that their numbers are wrong? ha ha. Because they can not afford see the world through personally biased glasses.

If ejami were ratings gold, they'd be all over the screen. Obviously they are not.

ITA gina! I joined this board a couple months after James made his DOOL debut. I'd never really liked a character as much as I did him, and seeing his chemistry with Ali helped too. He is such a great asset to the show!

I would love for James to get some good material again. Right now it's just blah blah blah over and over again. I love James on the show and love him as EJ. Now if the writer's want to keep such a great thing, they need to give him some good stuff to work with.

JAMES SCOTT is an amazing actor! I will always love his character EJ... no matter what. I also hope they give him some good stuff to work with. He deserves it!

Don't make laugh the Safe making love scenes in May got 1.8 the ratings for Ejami are way better than that go check the the ratings scenes with Sami and EJ in mid June when she told him Grace was his daughter they reach 2.3 people don't see a boring couple like Safe they want to a exciting couple like Ejami. If they were wruitten a proper that means no Lucas or Rafe around them they were do fanastic in the ratings we have seen Ejami properly in love all we have seen fights between them and hatred towards one other recently.

Remember the episode Ejami did that tango the ratings then for that show was 2.6 i ahve all the imformation about the ratings for Days. The only reason Ejami sometimes got bad ratings was because they wriiten properly people wanted to them as lovers if they made them into a love story from that night they did the tango Days wouldn't be in state as is now. Also if Safe so popular why KC saying the ratings between september and March will decide the shows future he must think they still pretty crap to say that.

DOOL was lucky to get James Scott when he left AMC. I had stopped watching DOOL at that point (I've resorted to taping the show now so I can FF through most of the current SLs) and was following AMC. Yeah!! Finally some good posts about James. People think about it. Who are the characters who would be missed if they are not on screen. James is one, Ali is one, Ari is one, Eric is one. There are others who would not be missed.

James needs a storyline. Even with a recession I am sure other soaps have noted his popularity on dool and it would not be hard to find another role and I would follow him.

I don't know why this is a topic for general discussion, but here I go.

Seriously? EJ backburnered? Why don't we talk to Abe,Bo, Hope, and Lucas who have actually been backburnered? Or Steve and Kayla who haven't just been backburnered, they've taken off the stove all together. We're just supposed to believe the Stayla pot is still on there.

This ranting about EJ not getting a) enough time and b)quality time is sigh worthy at best.

On the ratings debate, I, for the life of me, can't understand why fights over ratings is relegated to well on the day the show got a 3.0 there was a scene featuring my couple. Rating are too complicated to try to simplify that way.

I have watched Days for 15 years and have never grown to love a character as I do EJ. He is the perfect blend of a good and dark character, when written well. TPTB are wasting a man with tremendous talent. James is the only reason I watch anymore and it is painful to see the way the writers have thrown EJ under the bus and dumbed him down to pimp other relationships. He does romance like no other! Give him good and witty material and he far outshines other soap actors. Bring back witty, smark, cunning, grey, romantic EJ! Take notice TPTB, quit destroying the character we love out of fear of controversy. Ejami is the key to Days going up in the ratings. No other couple can do that. They have all been snoreville and fast forward worthy.

I don't think it's about EJ being backburned really. It's his lame scenes and what his onscreen time has been reduced to that we're upset about. Hopefully once this stupid s/l is over, we can get more of a variety of characters having actual good s/l's. I know quite a few people would love to have Lucas being in a better s/l as well. And Bope are going to have a good one soon. So I understand you feeling that way.

EJ/James Scott..."How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." Who am I kidding? There are far too many ways to list.

My gripe is they are sacrificing one of the best actors (if not THE best actor) on the show by making him as unattractive as they *possibly* can in order to showcase the producer's pet from Passions. Give James a decent script to work with and pair him with Alison Sweeney and you'll see it reflected in the ratings in a positive way.

I can barely bring myself to watch Sami with Rafe but I force myself to because I'm STILL trying to see what TPTB see in this union. I fail to see it. They are wasting the talents of James Scott and Alison Sweeney not to mention valuable time that could be spent building ratings. Instead of relying on writing skills, their solution to sagging ratings is to bring in stars from a twice-failed soap and super-impose them into a storyline on DAYS (not even bothering to switch the relationship dynamic between them). That's just lazy.

Truer words have never been spoken! James has incredible talent and unfortunately for him I haven't seen much in the writing since 2007 that is worthy of him as a performer. Also your point about using stunt casting as a way to stave off ratings disaster rather than doing something pro-active like seeing that the writing is improved is spot on. Stunts only work for so long, ask JER. There was great writing in the 'Grace dies' storyline for what? All of 5 or 6 days? Then predictably it all went downhill again at warp speed. Days needs writers that can get the job done and satisfy with decent dialogue and storytelling. Their plot-driven agenda needs to take a backseat to character-driven storylines, if I don't know or care what the motivation is for the characters why would I continue bothering to watch? It is lazy 'go from point A to point B' storytelling at its worst.

Great Post!!! I really do not understand the hoopla when it comes Rafe and Sami. I must say that out of all the summers of watching Days. This current version of Days is a complete bore. IMO, Rafe and Sami can take full credit in this scenario as well as the constant dragging out babyswitch storyline. I can't believe the writers would completely backburned EJ and Sami for a boring couple better known as Rafe and Sami. It doesn't make any sense. Whether you like/dislike EJ and Sami. You have to admit that they are never boring to watch. Yes, I agree with others. How dare the writers waste the talents of James and Ali in order to promote the dullest couple better known as Rafe and Sami. Give me a break!!! First of all. I written about this scenario many times. Rafe is a safety choice for Sami. Well, I am sick of watching a safety choice for Sami and also sick of the neasayers. As the result of the powers to be giving into the neasayers. This show has been turned into a 100% snoozefest of a show. Speaking of Nicole. I do not have anything against the actress. However, the idea of bringing her character back in order to be paired with EJ totally destroyed EJ's character. One of the reasons why EJ is fascinating to watch is because of his persistant persuit of his undying love for Sami. Pre-Nicole. EJ never gave up hope when it came to Sami. Lucas couldn't deter his love for Sami. Oh, how I missed the Days of EJ and Sami. No matter how much the writers try to sell Rafe and Sami as some hot couple. NOT!!! Days hasn't been the same nor will be the same without EJ and Sami gracing our t.v.screens. The t.v. screen doesn't melt anymore. Instead, it puts you to sleep. sleeping.gif Go Figure!!!

When you give him good material JS rocks it. EJ was a great addition to the DiMera clan because he was intelligent and conflicted, complex, and dark with a hidden vulnerability for unconditional love. JS took that role and ran with it, creating a great deal of subtext and playing it to perfection.

The more complex the scene the better he is.

My gosh this forum is a pleasant surprise....it is soooo nice to see the Ejamis are still out there. Sometimes
I felt as if I was fighting the battle myself. I thought everyone had left the show. And, you are all so
right....this summer has been a total snoozefest led by absolutely the most boring couple I have even seen
on Days....I don't care about Safe folding clothes, I don't care about their damn picnics, what I do care
about is seeing Nicole nurturing Samis baby on a daily basis and the complete absence of children in any
Sami scenes. I want Ejami back - I am tired of waiting - I am tired of JS getting boring useless,
repetitive lines....I want the romance, the anticipation that Ejami brings....JS is the best male actor on
Days, save none, and he deserving to have the right actress with him. When they are together on the
screen it is magical.....Bring back Ejami and put EJ back as the lead male where he belongs - the heck
with all the subsitutes we are now seeing. I want to see the Ejami family together again.

After watching another soap for many years, I, one day, switched the channel to Days... a soap I had never watched. That was the day I was introduced to EJ DiMera. That was the day that I stopped watching my old soap and began watching Days... I watch Days entirely because of the remarkable character that James Scott has created. Even when the writing is not up to snuff (which is quite frequently these days), James is able to imbue the scenes he is in with a vibrancy and intensity that is exceptional... A mere look is all he needs to convey love, grief, anger, and arrogant disdain.... With a single expression, the viewer knows what going on in EJ's mind and heart... I spend hours dissecting EJ because James gives me so much about which to think... James always challenges the viewer even when the writing does not. In the hands of most actors, EJ could easily have become a one dimensional, stereotypical villain.. a caricature... In James' masterful hands, EJ has become deeply human.... In my opinion, James has made EJ the most interesting character in all of soaps and in all of television. While my busy schedule frequently prevents me from watching much television... I will always take 1 hour of my day to watch Days...While I may fast forward through some of the other stories on Days... I never fast forward through a scene with EJ in it... On the contrary, I generally rewatch EJ's scenes because every time I watch I gain a little more insight into this remarkable character.

Thank you, Mr. Scott!!!!

ITA that James Scott is a very talented addition to Days. I'll never forget the day while flipping the channel I saw James and Ali in a scene together and thus began my watching of DOOL. There was just something about the couple and what I found was the character Sami always needed someone to love her unconditionally and someone who was able to go toe to toe with her - lets face it we all love her because she is the black sheep who gets into lots of trouble but Allison's acting is so fantastic that we have grown to love this character. The character of EJ Dimera finally established her male counterpart - just as reckless and conniving and lovable as she is.

Awesome post! Yes. James has made EJ Dimera his own. He may have to follow a script but his acting choices ~ the walk ~ the body language ~ the facial expressions ~ are his and his alone. No one could ever replace him. If they ever tried, TVs across America would be roaming for other channels so fast heads would spin.

Scott!!!!

Terrific post! My sentiments exactly! Bravo!

I agree with all the posters and am so surprised we have such similar stories. I too was on a long break from Days and had begun to watch AMC. When I saw James Scott I started watching that soap and I'd never watched it before. Then when he moved to Days I was thrilled. I quickly dropped AMC and went back to Days. We got a couple of great years of writing for him and his storyline with Sami was like nothing I'd seen before and now he's relegated to looking like the village idiot with this ridiculous storyline with Nicole. It's been dragging on long enough. Safe is super boring. If I wanted to listen to petty bickering I'd stop watching soaps and tape me and my husband's conversations. Blah. I'm not buying that Safe is a long haul couple. Sorry. Rafe is basically Roman and we all know how Roman's love life has went. Like watching paint dry.

He doesn't do a thing for me, except to LMAO with his boring ways..

I applaud James Scott for his incredible acting abilities. He has made EJ into an unforgettable character. Whether you love him or hate him, you can't stop talking about him. And only the truly talented can make you do such a thing. James and Allison are amazing together and bring out each other's best. The chemistry between them is undeniable. Now, PTB, as they say...get on with the show already...and have EJ and Sami together as they should be. smile.gif

I totally disagree with your post. EJ is far from boring. Case in point. EJ has gotten so much attention. He is the most talked about character on this show. That it inself speaks volumes. As for Rafe. Let's talk about boring. The moment Rafe was paired with Sami. This show has been totally turned into a snoozefest of a show. I am sorry, but Rafe and Sami are as stale as dry paint. Their fighting scenes are boring as compared to EJ and Sami's riveting scenes. Enough is enough. We need to see more of EJ and Sami. Excitement is definitely needed on this show. Go Figure!!!

I am in complete agreement with you (big surprise, I know). EJ is the most discussed character on the show and you can hardly say the same for Rafe or Lucas for that matter. 'Nuff said. James is a fantastic actor, and he and Ali have the best chemistry, IMO. wub.gif

great post! I only watch for EJ and Sami and that is largely due to the acting talents of JS and AS and their incredible chemistry. Still waiting for them to be given the oppertunity to be involved in a well written storyline where they can share scenes on a regualr basis again. The last year has been such a waste of their talents and storyline potential.
