Season 4 Redemption Official NBC Press Release

From creator/writer Tim Kring (”Crossing Jordan”) comes the award-winning “Heroes,” an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities.

On September 21, “Heroes” returns with its fourth season and a brand-new volume – “Redemption.” As the dust settles from last season, our heroes attempt to settle back into their ordinary lives. But, as they will quickly discover, it’s not easy to go home again. They will face one pressing question: how do extraordinary people lead ordinary lives?

Previously, in “Volume 4: Fugitives,” our heroes made an attempt to return to their normal lives – but that attempt was cut short when Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) uncovered a deadly plot orchestrated by one of their own – Senator Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). After revealing to the government that there were people with special abilities, Nathan spearheaded an initiative to capture and imprison those people and used Noah Bennet a.k.a. H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Lives were torn apart. H.R.G.’s own marriage was destroyed. Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) was killed — literally shattered into frozen pieces.

Ultimately, it was Nathan who paid the price for his misdeeds – murdered at the hands of Sylar (Zachary Quinto). Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), devastated at the loss of her son, and H.R.G., in need of an ally within the government, convinced Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) to use his ability to repair the damage. Matt used mind control and forced Sylar to shapeshift into Nathan, while erasing Sylar’s own memories so he truly believed he was Nathan. Now, as far as everyone else knows, Nathan is alive and well. And Sylar is gone. But all of that is about to change…

This season, “Volume 5: Redemption” begins with our heroes putting their lives back together.

Claire is finding that her biggest challenges are forgetting her old life and starting college. How does someone who has led such an extraordinary life assimilate back into everyday college life? Any semblance of normalcy is shortly overturned when Claire’s roommate commits suicide and Claire discovers her new friend, Gretchen (guest star Madeline Zima), is hiding a secret herself.

Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) goes back to his old life in Japan, but discovers that he has a terminal illness. When Hiro can no longer keep his illness hidden, he sets out to fulfill his own personal bucket-list – righting the mistakes of his past. But will Hiro be able to correct the errors of his ways without severely altering the past and present?

Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) returns to work as an ordinary New York City EMT, but he uses his abilities to save lives. Peter has become obsessed, looking for redemption and shutting out the rest of the world he once knew. How can he forget the past and begin anew? Peter’s life will quickly change when a hearing impaired woman, Emma (guest star Deanne Bray), enters his life. Emma has used her disability as an excuse to shut herself off from the world. But as a new and unique ability manifests, the shell she’s built around herself will begin to crack apart – as will Peter’s.

H.R.G. is adjusting to life as a single man. Charged with creating a new company, he is rapidly discovering that he needs more from his life. But how does a company man become ordinary? And, when Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) returns and offers H.R.G. compelling evidence of a new danger, it makes H.R.G. wonder if he should get back in the game.

Tracy Strauss, having risen from the dead, is consumed with seeking vengeance, but soon realizes that she has a real opportunity to reinvent herself. The question is: who should she be?

Nathan Petrelli, not realizing who he really is, returns to the Senate and begins to notice strange changes in himself. Most alarming, Nathan discovers that he has new abilities. These changes are not lost on Angela, who recognizes them for what they truly are – the emergence of Sylar.

Meanwhile, racked by the guilt of what he did to Sylar and Nathan, Matt Parkman returns to life as an ordinary family man. All he wants to do is to raise his son, love his wife and return to a fulfilling career as an LAPD detective. But what Matt doesn’t know is that something unfamiliar is buried deep within his psyche – Matt can see and hear Sylar. And this specter will haunt him until Sylar is returned to his body.

The biggest challenge for our heroes is a strange and dangerous carnival comprised of a traveling band of outsiders with powerful abilities, led by a charismatic and powerful leader, Samuel (Robert Knepper). Alongside Samuel is his right hand man, Edgar (guest star Ray Park), a deadly Speedster with a talent for knives, and Lydia (guest star Dawn Olivieri) the Tattooed Lady.

Samuel leads his flock to intersect with the lives of all of our heroes. He will find them, and he will entice them to join him. And together, they will ask the same basic questions: Who are we? What does having powers mean to the world? How should we live our lives – shameful or proud? Should we hide or live out in the open? And if the world of powers is revealed, how will the world ever recover?

In 2009, “Heroes” has been honored with: a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show, a Teen Choice Award for Choice Action-Adventure Television Show, and a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series. Among its honors in past seasons, “Heroes” has garnered a People’s Choice Award, an AFI Award, a Multicultural Prism Award, a TV Land Future Classic Award, the Television Critics Association Awards’ Outstanding Program of the Year, the International Prize at the BAFTA Television Awards, and Choice TV Show Action Adventure at the Teen Choice Awards. It has also garnered nominations at the Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, NAACP Image, WGA and Satellite Awards.

“Heroes” is produced by Universal Media Studios in association with Tailwind Productions. Kring, Dennis Hammer, Adam Armus, Kay Foster and Jim Chory serve as executive producers.

I really don't know why they'd think we'd want a college plot in here? If we wanted that we'd watch ABC Family, we get enough of those on that station dry.gif
Than we have Hiro trying to full fill his buket list without screwing up time. Well at least he learned his lesson about time and is trying not to screw it up. Peters/Matts/Noahs/Circus folk storyline sound the most intresting of the bunch. That and Nylar. I like that Peter is trying to save lives with his powers as we saw from the promos he's using different powers so that's cool. His connection with Emma sounds cool too, so yah that one I look forward to the most. Peter sounds like Superman this Volume happy.gif
LuisTX85
ALL seems pretty awesome to me,I can't wait to see them play out But yeah I especially am anxious to see Peter/Matt/Noah's and the Circus peoples the most!.
jndasun
bring on the circus freaks!! biggrin.gif

Looks like I'll be mising a couple episodes (since I expect the Sylarfest to last at least 2 maybe 3 episodes). And poor Hiro, not looking forward to them devalueing him anymore than they already have.

Heck the only thing that interest me is the carnival people, Peter, and the two companies.
kryptopyro13
The carnival is a turn off, but this is kind of interesting...

I'm glad Hiro will redeem himself, at least...
soapyjeans
Well besides being bored with Sylar it's just too depressing to watch Hiro keep failing so I wished I had your confidence he'll get redeemed. I hope your right.

Whoa, volume 5 is gonna start off epic! The storyline that intrigues me the most at this point is the Sylar-Matt-Nathan one. After reading that article, and seeing the extended promo last week, Matt's gonna have a lot of drama as a detective. "Ghost" Sylar is gonna get back at Matt at some way, and it's gonna be through Matt Jr.

BTW, thanks for posting the link!

Actually the Matt/Sylar storyline seemed the most intriguing to me. Sylar was overkill last year...that I'll agree with but Matt having a head Sylar seems really interesting to me...or maybe I just miss BSG.

The one I didn't like was Hiro having a terminal illness...can they give us any more of a downer with him...whatever happened to happy hero Hiro. I hope they are not grooming Ando to take his place... I like Ando but I kinda liked him and Hiro as a team and I'm still not so sure that I like him having a power.

I really miss the dynamic of having people without abilities teaming with those that have abilities...it's more interesting...like with Matt and his partner from first season...Noah and the Haitian...even Simone and Peter...but now they give him a girlfriend that has an ability...will there be anyone left on the show that doesn't have one? I do like the actress they picked though... at least in the interviews I've read of her.

I don't think anything is going to happen to Hiro. He'll find this out, but it'll probably be cured later on or it turns out to be something not serious. Hiro is always going to be around. I think something could happen to Ando though. Anyways, I think Hiro is going to be getting into a relationship with Claire this season and that's something I'm really looking forward too cause I think those two were meant to be wub.gif
MrsGabrielSylar
The Matt/Sylar storyline is the most interesting to me at this point. Even Matt Jr. gets to join in the fun-- er, nightmare. I'm glad that Peter isn't wasting his medical training and that he's using his powers to save lives. Emma sounds pretty good, as long as she doesn't turn out to be a flop like Caitlyn (lost in the future that never occurred! ohmy.gif) and Simone (Issac, you idiot!). Please let Peter have a lasting relationship for once!
And I wanna see how Samuel turns out as a villain. Adam was the last good villain sad.gif

no prob

ack Matt/Sylar is boring me already. I'm so sick of these two, and Claire. The rest sounds very good, including Hiro's storyline (and that's gotta be a first for me).

Slightly off-topic: Are they going to release promo pics/wallpapers like they did last season?

Aaahh I agree with you so much on this. The only reason I'm intrested in the Nylar plot is cuz I want to see Peters reaction to all this. Than again it will be cool to see Gregs acting in all this, yelling at nothing and stuff. And yes Claire UGH!!! I wish they'd do some thing different with her, but yah know for some reason they feel she draws in the crowed dry.gif
Flyingwigheadhoeclaire
I guess they haven't figured out that people just hate her and shes only taking up screen time and hurting the show.
MrsGabrielSylar
Just a quick question: if Claire is in collage already, then how old is she in the current timeline? In volume 1, she was in grade 11 (I'm estimating here) cause she was about to turn 16, or was 16. 4 months passed for the 2nd volume, then I think it continued immediately into volume 3 (after Nathan got shot). After that, the timeline's a bit unclear for me, except for the '6 weeks later'. I just want to check that the time matches up for Claire to able to be graduated from high school and straight to collage.
kryptopyro13
She was looking at colleges at the beginning of volume 4 IIRC, so maybe she graduated early (or simply skipped because of her special life).
synch
The show can't make up its mind about Claire's age. She's been between 15 and 17 for the past 2 years. lol

QUOTE
There are conflicting references as to Claire's age and birthdate. Before production began, a press release noted her age would be 17. In the televised episodes, a newspaper article reported Claire's age as 18 months during the fire on February 28 1992, which would put her birth in August of 1990, and her age as 16. In The Fix (which takes place in October 2006), Claire says she is "almost 16"; this would suggest that her birth was in or after October of 1990. Further, Claire's birth mother tells Nathan that their daughter is now 16 (Run!), and later (in March 2007) she calls Claire a "seventeen-year-old girl" (One of Us, One of Them). Claire is a junior (Distractions, Four Months Later...), and most juniors are 16 or 17. Claire's MySpace page indicates her zodiac sign as Aries (which would place her birthday between 21 March and 19 April) and her age as 19. In the commentary for Godsend, Jack Coleman states that Claire has just turned 16. In an interview Tim Kring stated that Claire is 16. At the 2007 San Diego Comic Con, Hayden Panettiere said her character is 15. Incidentally, Claire does drive (Collision); and the legal driving age in Texas is 16, though a driver can obtain a permit at age 15. In March 2007, Mr. Bennet gives Claire a Nissan Rogue for her birthday, which they note is "next month" (April 2007). A fake prop driver license auctioned by NBC lists her birth date as March 10, 1993 (though it should be noted that the license never appeared in any canon source, and lists false information for Claire). Pinehearst's file on her list her birthday as January 11, 1991 (see file) (It's Coming). In Exposed, Sandra explicitly said Claire was 17.

Well if she started the first season as 15 and we are now entering five years gone then she should 19 or 20, college age.
synch
Kind of hard for us to be entering "Five Years Gone" when, not only has everything leading to that reality changed, but we're not even a full 3 years past S1 at this moment.

S1: Ended in November, 2006
S2: Started 4 months later, but ended less than 2 weeks after that. (Puts us approximately March, 2007.)
S3: Started immediately after that. V4 started around May or June of that year. The season would've ended not much after that, because the promo for S4 indicated we were in July or August of 2007.)
S4: Unless they seriously "fast forward" the show, the season will begin in late '07, or early '08.

Also, Hiro is not his bad a$$ self ready to swing his blade around and he still needs his glasses, thus not really a hunk competitor to Peter yet and we've already had a round up, but not the major one as was seen in that future yet. This might not happen till like the 7th or 8th season, but yeah, it's too soon for that. The writers aren't going to make this future a reality because there isn't going to be a fait thing going on here. So, "Five Years Gone" isn't going to happen.
MrsGabrielSylar
Whoa, now I'm REALLY confused about Claire's age O_o. But thx for trying to help me figure it out. At least I'm certain about Peter's age! He was 26 in S1, and according to HeroesWiki (last time I checked, at least) his birthday is in December, so he turned 27 during the 4 months leading up to S2.
I have this thing about having to know EVERYONE'S age. biggrin.gif
kryptopyro13
I'm so upset at the lack of consistency...

But yay, one of her birthdates is August 1990! biggrin.gif
