Liz is an enthusiastic grandma who loves to eat. Having lived on a country farm most of her adult life, she loves to cook hearty meals for her husband and family. Liz and her family grew up being quite fit. When she had her first child she went from 127 pounds to 350 pounds and has never been able to keep the weight off. She went as far as having a tummy tuck to shed some of the excess weight and skin. After her husband had bypass surgery, she realized she really needed to get serious about losing the weight.
Liz's grandkids are the light of her life, but she just cannot muster the energy to play with them as much as she would like. After working out and (attempting to) eat right for an entire year, she saw no change in her weight. Liz's frustration has led her to believe that "The Biggest Loser" is her only answer!

It was strange she was able to get that video considering Rebecca was going to give "her video" to Dina. Why didn't Rebecca try to get Dina's video? Or did I not paying enough attention to the show when I was exercising?

I agree....Liz is the drama older lady for rateings and talk on the ranch........Tracy is this seasons "V" and shes gonna keep her little smerky smile that just drives me nutts and you can see the vindictive way she has in her eyes...but in all fairness this is a gameshow and there all there to win cash and prizes...as well as lose a few pounds while doing it..so I say let her play the game, and maybe this season they will see this and get her off soon...

Haven't watched the past few weeks and only saw bits and pieces tonight, but happened to catch Liz's comments... the nasty, snarky, vindictives ones aimed at just about everyone on the blue team... Daniel and his "boasting" and the girls' "fake tears." She sure seemed happy that they had to sadly vote someone off. How totally unbecoming of her!!
I guess her true colors are coming out now at this point in the game, and boy, those colors are not very pretty!!
It's pretty amazing to see the contrast in the contestant's characters and relational abilities. On one hand, you have Abbey... an inwardly beautiful woman with character, maturity, and grace. On the other hand, you have Tracey and Liz... self-centered game-players. And the sad thing is that Liz, who is older than Abbey, should at this point in her life be someone with maturity. Abbey was the one who was a mother-figure to Shay, while meanwhile, Liz delighted in the sorrow Shay would feel having to vote a team member off.
Very sad. And very unpleasant to watch!! Esp. when people like Abbey get voted off and Liz and Tracey stay!! UGH!!!!

Me too! Watching her tonight was painful! Her twang was like twice as strong as normal as she reveled in her vindictiveness towards Daniel and the girls on the blue team! I think her true colors have begun to show now that the game is in full swing, and those colors sure are unbecoming!

Liz reminded me of someone I know. From the very beginning of this season that put me off of her. After last night's episode I find that I was right to dislike the Liz they are showing through editing.
I agree with the poster that said Liz should have been more understanding and kind. But then this is a gameshow, as soooo many other posters love to remind us, and who knows, understanding and kind might not win the money. So, this just leads me to believe that Liz is one of the ones there for the money, which to me is very sad.

I just don't get why she tosses it out there every chance she gets that she is an old grandmother....geesh....she is my age and I don't go around acting like I'm all old and grannified (LOL). I'm sick of hearing how at her age she is doing this or doing that!!!! Yes our metabolism slows as we age, especially after menopause but in no way do I act like I'm ready for the pasture. She would do us older folks more justice if she would show everyone just how much spunk and young we can still be at 50+.

I couldn't agree with you more, Zendee. I am 48 and Liz's attitude about her age is just one of the factors that puts me off. I work out with a trainer three days a week and my trainer once told me that she wishes all her people would work as hard as I do. No, before anyone asks, I am not pulling the weight loss numbers that they pull on the show, but I am not working out 6 to 8 hours a day. But, I am much healthier than I was ten months ago when I started working out. The point is, even at around 50, I can give it my all and still put some younger people to shame by just working hard at what I do.
I was talking to my son last night about something else totally, and he said, "seriously, you are almost a senior citizen?" It really shocked him to realize just what my age meant. That is because I do not 'act' like I am old. I enjoy life. My kids are always telling me how their friends think I am a great mom because we enjoy many of the same things, like science fiction books and movies, and games. Yes, I am mature, but I can still enjoy life. Liz seems to have forgotten that.

Give her a break. Liz is a 47 year old woman competing against 20 and 30 year olds. She works out 6 to 10 hours a day and probably at times feels like she wants to crawl to bed because she is too sore to walk. At this point in the show, she has been doing this for 6 weeks, living with complete strangers all vying for $250K trying to keep herself on the show. You walk a mile in her shoes and will see if you don't act the same way. Remember, its all editing. I find her very intertaining and hope she goes far.

Actually, Liz stated last night on the show that she was 50 years old and was going on about how hard the challenge was. Granted she is overweight but some of them younguns' are a tad bit bigger than her and she looks a lot better than some of them too. To me she should be pulling her weight a little better instead of complaining about being too old. Gees, I thought 50 was the new 30?
I just turned 50 and workout regularly and run 5Ks all the way up to marathons. I used to do a boot camp a few years ago and us *older* campers were always beating the *younger* campers. It was a good feeling and just went to prove that you're as old as you feel.
So come on, Liz, stop making us 50-year olds look bad - OK?

Exactly!!! My office is currently having a challenge and I'm 1st in weight loss and 3rd on the activity monitor. I'm 51 competing against 20 and 30 yr olds and I love the fact that I am making them work their butts off to stay in front of me in activity plus I'm the heaviest in the bunch and never previously exercised. There is no way I am going to lay down and give up so the young ones can take over...LOL I can tell you right now not one of them think I'm a slouch and easy to beat. In my opinion Liz is going about this all wrong if she is trying to make herself look good compared to the rest.

After watching how unfair Liz was over the blenders, and how she pushed her weight around about it, unyielding in the face of common sense, I lost total respect for her.
Make no mistake about it, she's a player. I'm a Southerner and was so glad she was on there until I saw this segment. Now I'm ashamed of her. Absolutely.

Dang, I'm in the minority again this season.
I think Liz is fantastic, she's sassy and smart mouthed, and I think she brings some fun to what would otherwise be a bunch of downers. I also think she was dead on when she said the Blue team would stop the fake crying and show some real tears when they had to vote off one of their own. Shay wasn't bawling because her team lost the weigh in, she was crying because she couldn't vote off Danny due to his immunity.
I'll take snarky Liz over the self-rightous pink and orange team anyday.

Oct 28 2009, 08:33 PM
I'm kind of with you Boo. I don't really like Liz, but she was right about the blue team. They were fake tears.
On this last weigh in, I wonder how many tears would have been shed if Shay had won immunity. They were all, ( except for Danny of course) so hoping she would. They would have had no problem voting off Danny. They would have acted like it was a tough decision, but they were pretty obvious about what they were thinking, IMO.
A few of Liz's comments gave me a little chuckle, but she really turned me off a few weeks ago, when she vowed revenge against Tracy. I can't quite forget that, and some of her comments reminded me of that attitude.
I also agree that she is playing the 'old' card way too much. She's just the oldest there. But she's too young to be embracing the old lady within, that's for sure.
I do understand though, since she is competing with people younger. And if they are writing her off as the 'old lady', I don't mind her gloating a little bit, when she beats them.
Boo1667
Oct 28 2009, 08:43 PM
Yeah, she does play that old lady card a little too much, but if she is an actual grandma, I guess I could see why she feels that way. I was in the gas station last weekend and there were about 20 college kids in line stocking up on beer, and me getting getting gas. I felt like an old lady, and I'm not even 30 yet.
I totally get why she rubs people the wrong way, but I think she's fun and amusing.

Shameful behavior for an adult of any age. Especially with regard to the blenders. Unless someone held a gun to her head and said "Clean the blenders!" she didn't have to do it. Self-righteousness is always self-wrongteousness. If the blenders are there for all to use she has stolen them, which is no different from taking home the plate on which your dinner was served at a restaurant, even if you intend to bring back the plate if and when the restaurant starts serving your favorite meal cooked exactly the way you want it served by only someone of whom you approve.
