Even though I knew it was going to happen, I'm still surprised that they actually went through with letting Michaela go. She seemed like a good asset to the cast and definitely proved herself as talented sketch comedian.

So Michaela goes, but Abby stays. THAT makes sense. One did almost nothing the entire season, one could have been confused with a regular player.

It's also said that Pardo is gone, and Hammond is still on the fence.

Michaela was really good, so it is a surprise they let her go.
The one thing that signaled Casey Wilson's departure was the
beginning of last season when Sara Palin became part of the election thing.
I thought Palin was a perfect part for Casey Wilson because there is a resemblance
(perhaps more so than Mike Myers),
but they called in Tina Fey, which on one hand, worked out brilliantly,
but on the other hand, took away a golden opportunity for Casey to spotlight.

I can't believe that Michaela Watkins was fired. To me the best talent on SNL in recent has been the women and Watkins was obviously the next Kristen Wiig or Amy Poehler. Go back and watch the Kathie Lee sketch and marvel at Watkins' Hoda Kotb - when I first saw this bit I remarked that Watkins could easily walk right out the door and get a job as the kind of buttoned-up, high profile morning show anchor she was spoofing. And "bitch pleeeeease" is one of the hookiest new catch phrases the show has delivered in a while.

I can't wait to see what Watkins does next, but I'm bummed it won't be more brilliant work on SNL.

How disappointing that given the opportunity for some cast turnover, SNL chooses, yet again, to pass over anyone of diversity and go with . . . two more white women. This cast is so lily white it's appalling - and boring. I'm white, and even I don't want to look at white people all the time.

I think the lack of diversity is why the show has been so unfunny in recent years - where are some different voices and outlooks on life to spice it up and add some, gee, comedy?! It's a shame MadTV is gone now - they always had a good mix of cast members.

Come on, SNL - look around. Your cast does NOT at all represent the way the country and the world look. It's pretty pathetic, and woefully behind the times.

You do know that one of them is Iranian.

Exclusive: Michaela Watkins 'shocked' by 'SNL' firing
by Michael Ausiello

Michaela-Watkins_lBitch, pleeeeze. That sums up my reaction to the news that Saturday Night Live has dropped the hilarious Michaela Watkins from the cast. In just one short year, Watkins gave birth to a slew of memorable characters and impersonations, most notably bitchpleeze.com blogger Angie Tempura and Today’s Hoda Kotb. (Watkins’ co-star Casey Wilson was also axed.) What the heck was Lorne Michaels thinking? Dude’s not talking so I tracked down the next best thing: Michaela herself.

honestly?? biiiitttccchh please was the funniest thing they've done in a year and they fire her?
I just don't get it... We have actually been waiting for the show to return this season BECAUSE of that skit.
I have been watching this show since the 70's but the last few years has taken a nasty down turn. Not so much
looking for the new season return now. It's a shame I was just starting to like SNL again and really liked
Michaela. Casey Wilson was even growing on me.
lauriep_1
and if she sucks bad enough to fire her, why buy the domain name?? bitchpleeze.com

just dumb.
MandaSF
SO stupid to fire Michaela Watkins - she was awesome! Not only was she one of the few remaining women on the show - but someone who was actually good. I'm shocked about Watkins - she worked really well with Wigg, and I loved her Hoda impersonations. I don't buy the idea that Lorne thinks she would have done better with her own - he's too selfish to let go of good talent. Something's definitely up. I mean, why is Keenan still on the show?! He's average, at best. If they felt the need to dice up the cast, why not fire him and keep Watkins. Clearly SNL needs to bring more diversity to the cast - no question there, but why is it so hard for them to cast men and women of color? Weird, weird, weird.

Yes, I knew that - but still. One Iranian woman and one black guy. Otherwise - lily freaking white!

Have they ever even had anyone Asian on the show? Indian? Sorry, but it just really gets to me.

I'm still convinced the reason why something like The Daily Show or MadTV is funny is because they bring different perspectives to the table. SNL, not so much.

I think to imply that they "need" to have someone of another race is offensive. Aren't we far enough along in our history that we can look past the color of someone's skin and instead of demanding that a company hire someone of a different race, demand that they choose the best person for the job.

Diversity is great, and if someone of ANY race is the funniest person SNL finds, by all means cast them...but at the end of the day you have to remember this is SNL, not the league of nations.

Why did they fire Michaela??? She's the best female cast member to come along since Kristen Wiig. B*tch Please! Bad move, Lorne. Very bad move...

Casey Wilson Fired Because of Weight?!

In my opinion, it's a reach, but you never know.

According to an article in EW, Michaela was told by Lorne she was "too good" and should be striving towards her own sitcom. Attaboy Lorne, we don't want the SNL cast to be weighed down by talent. But on the upside, at least this means more airtime for the underutilized Wiig.
GAMESHARQ
Maybe some people liked them, but I won't miss them one bit. Michaela Watkins was the unfunniest person in the history of SNL. Even Colin Quinn was funnier than her. And Casey Wilson was more annoying than she was funny. Good bye and good riddance!

On a related note, I'm glad that Kenan Thompson is still on the cast. He was great on Kenan and Kel and is great on SNL. I think he fits in well and I hope he's around for a long time. Increable!!
vballa21
I agree Lorne should not have fired Mikaila. It did not take her long to come into her own on the show, and the show is in desperate need of another talented woman besides Wiig. Abby Elliot has done nothing for me. Casey I'm less sad about but she def was growing on me as well. Mikaila had sooo much potential. These two new women better be worth firing 1 or 2 perfectly great cast members!
