The reason why I had to ask this specific question is because I currently do not like the current EJ written in such a delusional nonchalant manner. Prior to the return of Nicole. EJ was smarter than the average character on this show. He could outsmart Sami because he was her equal in every sense of the word. However, the moment he was paired with Nicole. His character was shamefully ruined, IMO. Case in point. The touching of Nicole's fake belly literally took the cake. As for Lucas. What can I say about Lucas? Kate tried to kill Chloe for pete sakes. Lucas threatens to disown his mother. Nevertheless, he continues to believe in momma dearest. What else is new?

I personally think Lucas is nowhere near the character that I saw when he first made his appearance in Salem. He was fiesty...spontanious...scheming...would tell his momma where to go...and I liked it! Now...it's my "WTF" face when watching him

Good question, kinda a hard choice. Lucas has seen all the things his mom has done and yet he is practically in denial and doesn't believe Kate was behind the poisoning. But EJ has been fooled by 2 women at the same time regarding his children and that has lasted over a year. Plus his father is in on it and acting suspicious right along with Nicole and yet he still doesn't have a clue.

I find that with Lucas it's been a more gradual decline of intelligence. But, EJ is catching up rather quickly (too bad).

I think it is a tie.

When Lucas first came on the scene he was smart, strong and independent. Now he's a doormat to Chloe and Kate. Old Lucas would've caught on to his mama's antics a long time ago and figured out that Chloe was messing around with Daniel.

And EJ, wow there is no way Nicole could've fooled him before. Not with the fake pregnancy and not with the baby switch. He also would've caught on to Sami hiding the fact that she was pregnant.

Both men use to be written as smart independent men now they are both just clueless. I think it is sad that the writers think they have to dumb down their characters in order to pass off their lame storylines.

EJ takes the top prize for dumbness IMO. Lucas has been written bad for the past
few years, but I don't think he's been dumbed down as much as EJ.
I've got one more thing to add- I CAN'T STAND THESE WRITERS!!

The moment the new writer {Higley} came on board. EJ was dumbdowned from the moment he met Nicole. I should have added Sami on this topic because lately she has been written as a dumb character as well. First of all, the old Sami was smart and could figure out that things weren't right. Case in point. Nicole. The old Sami would have never befriended Nicole for any reason knowing that in the past Nicole couldn't be trusted. Also, old Sami would have never allow anyone to take away her baby without first taking a glance. She would have been suspicious. I guess Rafe and Nicole are both worth the hoopla...NOT!!! Please bring back the real EJ and Sami!!!

Lucas. Lucas has been a loser in love since he was a teen. It's gotten old. Bryan just isn't sexy and that's the problem.

Bryan is very sexy. It's all a matter of personal taste.

As for who has been dumbed down the most...

I have to go with EJ. Lucas still has moments of where the light bulb goes off. Lately EJ's does not. Someone needs to replace both of their bulbs! I enjoy both characters a lot more when they have working brain cells.

For the past year I would have to say EJ has been duped the most. He lost all his brains when he meet Nicole. She has played him for the biggest fool in history.

Lucas has had too many years of playing stupid so not much has changed. He has always had his nose stuck so far up Kate's a$$, if she farted it would blow him to China.

EJ. He was the master manipulator and now he is easily manipulated because of this baby switch storyline.

I remember a time where Lucas was in the loop his radar was always on and he could snuff out schemes and lies. Hell he knew from the get go that Kate was lying about his own paternity. I haven't seen that Lucas in a long time.

Both men characters have been stupefied. There is no excuse for both of them to not be clued in to what was going on in there s/l's everything has been so obvious. They aren't the only ones to suffer this fate which is another sad fact.

First I'd like to say that every character has been dumbed down at one point or another when it's suited the storyline. That being said, I'm gonna have to go with EJ.

Ej only became dumbed down when he was paired with Nicole. he was way smarter then he is now.

It's actually ridiculous how far these two have been dumbed down.

How many time did EJ outwit Sami? The time when she set him up with John, he figured it out and played right back. When she tried to hide her first pregnancy from him, he caught her at every turn. But with ms. fake belly he's an idiot.

Lucas' light bulb does still go on now and then- Just not when it comes to his own life. He figured out that Sami was lying about the stillborn baby. He figured out that Grace wasn't just a baby that Sami adopted. Granted, he Sami eventually told him herself, but he was still sharp enough to snuff Sami out in a second. And he was smart enough to tell Sami that trusting Nicole just like that is stupid (which Sami herself should have known). But when it comes to Kate, the one situation where he has everything spelled out for him, he's suddenly stupid.

Hey I got it! Okay this is basic math: A negative and a negative make a positive right? So while Sami, EJ, and Lucas are stupid apart, when either two are together they grow brain cells! Hmm...Rafe has been proven smart with or without Sami, so maybe he should just be charitable and let either Lucas or EJ be with her. They seem to need this unexplainable boost more than he does.

Great post!!! EJ was able to outsmart Sami and beyond. Yet, he has been written as a fool when it comes to Nicole. If this is the way for the writers to redeem EJ by pairing him with Nicole. This notion is really sad... One of the reasons why EJ became famous is because he was another version of Sami. EJ is one of my favorite characters on this show. It is ashame that the writers had to destroy his character in order to pair him with Nicole. What a shame?
