Does anyone know if it's safe to do the Biggest Loser workout DVDs during pregnancy? I've been doing the DVDs for a couple years now, and I just found out I'm pregnant but I'd like to continue the workouts if I can, or at least a modified version. Any thoughts?

This is a very good question for your OB/GYN. When I was pregnant, I was encouraged to work out, but not get my heart rate over a certain number. The explanation given was that if you are working out too hard, blood will be diverted from nourishing your baby to nourishing your muscles. However, my youngest child is now 15, so I don't know what the current thinking about this is.

Oh-congratulations on your pregnancy!

Absolutely a question for a doctor and not for an internet message board. I don't care if some one comes here claiming to be a doctor, you should talk to your own OB/GYN who is familiar with your medical history and specific case.

Fitness guru Kathy Smith never stopped working out because she was pregnant [one of the books I have shows her on a biking trip with her family while she's 7-8 months pregnant]. She also made fitness workouts for pregnant women while pregnant herself.

Unless there are secondary medical issues that are of a concern for the health of the mother and baby, working during pregnancy is a great benefit and can prevent the mother from gaining a lot of weight during pregnancy.

As for doing Biggest Loser DVD's during pregnancy, simply decrease the intensity and use lighter weights. What's important is to keep moving.
