So I was looking through the new Guinness World Records edition and BL has a record.

Guess what it is?

Most product placement for a tv series. In 2008, BL had 6,248 cases of product placement. I counted the numbers of episodes for that year and it was 30. Therefore, that is on average 208.267 times per episode.

No wonder we always feel like the show is always showing some product. So if the show is 2 hours long that works out to about 1 every 34.5 seconds.

Do you guys think they counted the shirts the contestants wear also?

Is there an online source for this?

No - it's not real.

I just searched their site. (Guinness')

(At least its nowhere to be found on their site)

I did see on another site last year that listed TV shows and the number of product placements, but I can't remember where it was. And I know BL was one of the top shows.

The Guinness site does say that it does not have every fact listed online.

Here's an article listing another Neilsen reference, which matches the number the original poster stated:

However, that pales when you take the cable channels into consideration:

Speaking of Guinness.....

3 guys walk into a bar, sit down and order a pint. They look pretty depressed so the bartender asks them what the problem is and almost in unison they say they are stuck in a dead end job that's going nowhere and has no redeaming value. The bartender asks them what they do?

1. I'm the guy that puts those little plastic ends on the end of your shoelaces so they thread through the holes. There isn't even a name for job. My son's class mates laugh at him and throw their shoes at him whenever the tips break off.

2. I moderate a forum where people talk about a major network's reality TV series.

The first guy downs his beer, says "I feel much better now," and leaves.

3. I count product placement ads in TV shows but I feel better now too. And he leaves.

The bartender says to the 2nd, "This one's on the house."
