Ok so who screwed up the translation in subtitles? The young Venezuelian officer who is in love with that girl (don't know names, first time watching this) says to her in Spanish (after he says she would live like a princess) that he will be getting on a flight in six hrs and if she is not there with him he will hang himself, which she says No...the subtitles read "I am an intern and my estate is not as large as my superiors"...did NBC think no latinos would watch the show?? Get the damn subtitles right if your going to translate...

Orrrrrr maybe they filmed it and then someone at NBC said, "we can't have a guy threatening to hang himself"and all they had time to do was change the subtitles. Or they did it on purpose so there was an inside joke for people who could translate Spanish.

There are always lots of reasons why somethings happen. I honestly don't think that they didn't think anyone would be able to translate what they were saying. There are far too many Spanish speaking people in this country and as far as I could tell, none of the other words were mis-translated. I definitely don't think Greg Daniels and Michael Schur are that stupid.

I loved how a gun was a "blossoming symbol of peace between our two nations" laugh.gif

It does kinda seem to my untrained ear that they did mistranslate (or translate wrong on purpose) the young Venezuelan intern when he was talking to April. I heard "seises" (six) and "muerte" (death) which corroborate LatinaConSabor's translation. But I'm leaning toward BJB's take on the matter that NBC decided the suicide subject was too much so they changed it after the fact to avoid controversy.

If that's the case, then I think it's funny they created controversy by trying to avoid it!

I also think it's awesome that Tom contributed all his "tip" money to the pit/park project. I like the way his character is developing.

I thought this episode was pretty funny, but I wanted Leslie to snap just a little bit more. I think it's hysterical that they wound up going to Venezuela in the end.

Really hilarious episode, the first epi of this show I caught was last week's "Practice Date" and I have to admit, this show has me hooked. This morning I googled 'where has Chavez taken Venezuela?'. Stupid I know but Fred Armison's riff on Venezuela under Chavez - absolutely outrageous and so funny!

nevermind the subtitles, the flag was wrong on the arm badge. Unless I just couldnt see the stars

I didn't quite get why they chose Pawnee. Miami and Pawnee? laugh.gif

I thought this was the weakest episode this season. Don't get me wrong...I love Fred Armisen, but I thought using him with this plotline was just too gimmicky. There's wasn't much furthering any of the main characters plotlines/development with the exception of Tom having a heart and donating his dirty money to the pit fund.

Aside from Ron's TH with the gun, a mainly throwaway episode...
