Hi All, new to this Office board. I have a question, and I apologize if it has been asked and answered, but....

Why is it that corporate had to move Holly away when they found out that Holly and Michael were dating, but has no issues with promoting Jim to be Pam's boss? Seems like they would want to transfer either Jim or Pam, or at least suggest changing Pam's role to have her work directly for Michael and not Jim.

Was this ever addressed?

I don't believe it's ever been said for sure. But I assume they moved Holly because of the disaster that was Jan and Michael. Jan tried to sue Dunder-Mifflin, and Michael's relationship with her made it very awkward. I don't think Wallace trusts Michael to handle office relationships. And since Holly is HR, that made it even more problematic. Now why they let her date AJ? I guess he seems normal enough they don't worry about it.

and while I agree that it seems inappropriate for Pam to be working directly under Jim (or very appropriate? wink.gif ), my guess is they like Jim and so let it slide. It could easily come up in a future episode, though.

Thanks! I didn't know about the Jan lawsuit. I thought there was a corporate policy that broke up Michael and Holly. Having it be a Michael-specific thing makes a lot more sense.

I've been wondering that lately, too. Last time I watched I wondered, isn't it sort of inappropriate for Pam to have that job now that Jim's been promoted? And they're married?

I wouldn't be surprised if they have to do something about it in the future. I could see a bunch of the other employees getting angry about something and accusing Jim of favoritism.
