So I just watched the latest episode. I love it. After the flop that was season 2, I see Heroes coming back to the gold standard it once was.
Anyway.
I am lost over the whole teleportation thing Samuel used on Tracy. No matter how far I stretch the limits of terrakinesis, I cannot picture how that would allow him teleporting skills.
Any ideas?

exactly!
I was hoping they'd explain it in a GN...I'm guessing is that he displaces "Earth" and moves either himself and his target to the Carnival or the latter... but what bothers me is if he moves earth the displaced earth needs to show up...
just like it you run you hand throw water it'll cause a wake
I mean is his ability that Omnipotent that he control the tech-tonic plates that are floating on the rivers of molten lava in the world? I don't think so as it seems he had to struggle to get the police station to sink..
or the latter could be true and the reason he struggled because he only wanted the Police Station to sink and not the surrounding buildings...
while I like that for the most part Heroes is a thinking mans show and leaves allot to interpretation, an explanation or even a demonstration would be nice..

Synch has a thread theorizing that the compasses point to an energy one of the Carny specials is using to create portals to the Carnival....or something like that.
Samual's apparent teleportation of Tracy fits into that theory. It may not have been Samual's power that trasnported them.

It's possible that they don't really know or care how it happens. The carnies may just disappear at some point and it will remain a mystery. If, on the other hand, they don't have a solid plan and then decide (like Sylar) that the carnies are just too good to go away and then try to fill in all the pieces of the puzzle after the fact it will be a disaster.

I'm guessing that he's either an Empath or something of the sort. Maybe just a better version of Peter and Sylar.

Synch's theory is very possible. One thing for sure is that it's not Samuel doing the teleporting but one of the carnies.

it is apparent that he uses the other carnies and their abilities for his own ends. uses Lydia to gain information, uses Edgar as a "go fetch" guy, uses the invisible girl (Rebecca i think) as a covert scout of sorts, is manipulating Sylar, uses the old man as a mode of transportation which i think is how Samuel can supposedly teleport. i think the old man can create portals that can transport people through time and space.

I'm inclined to agree with you that Samuel uses the old man to get where and when he wants to go. I haven't seen much else in the way of an explanation for it.

this doesn't really explain how he hid the carnival from the cop chasing sylar and how he brought Tracy to the carnival without the old man with them.answers?

Maybe it's some sort of wormhole? I don't claim to have all the answers. Just speculating on what I've seen so far and the post I quoted made the most sense to me.
