So we have seen Sam use his power to manipulate large areas of earth and create sinkholes, and manipulate small amounts of earth like when he planted the seeds outside the carnival or when he was burrying Joseph. but my question is what do you think the limit of his power is? do you think he can raise a decent size rock from the earth and use it as a projectile or raise a wall of earth as a type of shield, and those types of things.. thoughts?

I think it all depends on how big they want to make the character.if they want him to b another sylar or aurther he can do anything that involves the earth.if they want him to play the more manipulating role like angela or Nathan he will b a big talker that struggles to do big things like sink holes and land moving.

Personally I think he's gonna play a big Angela role.he will use the carnies like weapons(like Angela)and do very little with his own powers besides throwing an ocasional hissy fit destroying a building

by the way I love the Sam character and am not trying to ba mouth him at all I jus see him playing the mind game more than the physical force aproach

I think he can move rocks and use them as shields and projectiles, but it will be hard for the character. It drains him physically. Not because he is weak but because that is how his power should work.

It looked to me as if Samual was struggling when he brought down the police station. I'm guessing that's pretty close to the limit of his power.

my perception of that was to show the passion he had
not that he was struggling

yes they all have a limit ie when Peter was helping Adam get to the vault. He had to struggle to ripp off that vault door

spoilers: at the end of once upon a time in texas, when you see mohinder dead, were they rocks laying on his chest :0 obviously samuel killed him, does this mean he can in fact use earth as a projectile? :0

to me using a rock as a projectile would be more Tele not terra. a rock cant get up and fly unless someone throws it so even if samule can control earth how can he make a rock do something that unatural to it. making the earth move upon "itself" is a totally differant animal.

Sparrow's shown instances where she can summon individual rocks; also, making ink choke people and causing the earth to move without physical contact is natural?

yes making the earth move upon itself possibly like water would be more natural a motion then making a rock levitate itself.

even just making a rock roll (possibly altering its molecular structure to move itself) is more natural than somehow making a rock shoot itself like a bullet. unless SOMEHOW he literally had the earth just shoot the rock straight out of the earth like a bullet (hence having the earth build pressure and push objects out). that would be believable aside have the rock float then shoot.

My guess is that the writers are going with the classic comic version of Terrakinesis which has always been desribed as more of a limited Telekinesis. They can't control everything like people with tele can, but they do have vast control over the earth.

On a different note, while I do think Samuel's character could do this in theory, I'm not so sure we'll ever see a full fledged fight with him flinging rocks around either (very expensive).

Sparrow, btw:
