Short Films
From SNLWiki
Short films weren't necessarily part of the conception of Saturday Night Live, but when Albert Brooks turned down a writing position in the first season of the budding comedy show, he asked Lorne if he could use SNL to create and showcase short films instead. When Brooks' films became popular, short films became a regular feature of the show which continues to the present in the series of "SNL Digital Shorts."
