it is a great website! it's interesting and inspiring to see how other parents deal with this issue.
i very much agree with one of the parents saying it's important to build a child's self esteem in order for him to have the "power" to resist peer pressure. children that are self confident can hold their own in social settings.

You're right--peer pressure is definitely one of the things that make kids smoke. what's worse is that they become embarrassed and addicted to such a dangerous behavior.

Keeping kids from smoking is such a difficult task. I wish it was harder for kids and even adults to get a hold of a pack of cigarettes but that's not the case. I do agree that peer pressure is probably the number one reason a kid chooses to start smoking. I would also say that getting involved with your kids lives is a great way to help reduce the risk that they will smoke or do other risky behavior. If you ignore your kids or don't pay enough attention to them, they'll find it elsewhere.
