Ok, so we all love our captain for being our big damn hero but, of course, Firefly and Serenity aren’t the only things he’s ever done. So I thought we could do with a thread to celebrate our captain as not just a big damn hero but as a big damn actor too.
Recently on my trip to the states I was lucky enough to stay in a hotel that had some recent movies on the TV, obviously these weren’t free but given the exchange rate between dollars and pounds I decided that $10 was certainly an acceptable price to pay to see Waitress, Nathan’s latest film. And what can I say; I smiled, giggled and full out laughed at Nathan‘s charming but bumbling Dr. Pomatter. My friend even enjoyed it, though not quite in the same way as me... I think he thought it a little too much like a chick-flick. But after a very poor summer of movies I would definitely have to say the Waitress is well worth the watch.
I’m sure most of you have seen other shows/films staring our captain, so what did you all think?

Nathan is a very talented (and wicked funny) actor. I've seen him in firefly and serenity of course but also on Lost and I cannot wait for Nathan to move into Wisteria Lane. Should cause some craziness...
Also, I truly admire him for his work with Martin Firell (I sure hope I spelled that right) on the Hero project. That struck a major chord with me

I haven't been following Nathan's other work as closely as I would like to, this being a busy season for me at work, but I have heard about
Waitress and his induction to
Desperate Housewives, very excited about him getting more work! My friend Carl has been following Nathan's career very closely and I saw on his blog that he has something that he wishes would fall Nathan's way, written by our beloved Tim Minear too! It's called
Miracle Man and you can check out some info on it at
http://carl-said.blogspot.com/ if you're interested. I just know Nathan could pull it off beautifully! Even if he doesn't get it though, I'm excited to see Minear produce something else. I can't wait, yay!

Speaking of Tim Minear, I hope you guys caught DRIVE when it was shown. It's no longer available at the myspace, though. I never got to see the last 2 episodes.
Nathan can also be heard in the audio version of Softwire (the first 3 chapters). He has thrown his support behind a literacy drive called Kids Need to Read. www.kidsneedtoread.org
And he recently reprised his role on One Life to Live.
I think that about covers it. If you haven't seen "Waitress" yet, I highly recommend it. I wouldn't call it a chick-flick, but it covers plenty of women's issues. My husband enjoyed it and considered it thought-provoking. Plus, Andy Griffith turns in what I would consider an Oscar-worthy performance.
And that LOST appearance was classic. His first line -- "Wanna get it on?" /flutter

OMG, I almost forgot that Nathan has 2 direct-to-DVD movies out: White Noise 2 and Water's Edge.
I haven't seen either yet but from what I've heard, the movies are so-so but Nathan's performance is stellar.
And the series Two Guys and a Girl is now available on DVD. Nathan played my favorite character on that show. It was the reason I tuned in to see Firefly when it aired.

I am also very interested in Tim's new project with ABC. Tim Minear & I have the same upbringing so I am very much looking forward to this! It would also be extra wonderful to see Nathan involved in this project as well.

You can watch the six episodes of
Drive online at
http://www.fox.com/fod/player.htm?show=drive Nathan is supposed to be on the
Desperate Housewives special on
9/23/2007. The special tells what happened before and show clips of what is going to happen starting 9/30/2007.
Nathan is great in
SLiTHER. The DVD is packed with extras. Nathan is in almost every extra and the commentary with Director James Gunn and Nathan is very funny. If you watch the extras, you will understand why those who have think the phrase "I'm Bill Pardy" is so funny.

Nathan was great in the movie 'Slither' as a small town sheriff with big problems!

He was also in a 2004 movie called "Outing Riley." He plays a brother to the main character.

Don't forget to check out the season premiere of Desperate Housewives this Sunday. Nathan's playing opposite Dana Delaney, as her younger man of a husband. The couple has just moved to Wisteria Lane. Can't wait!
Also, Nathan's going to be on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Oct. 4. Set your tivo. You know it's gonna be funny!

Did anyone else know that Nathan did some voice acting Halo 3, how shiny is that?! And, apparently, so did Adam and Alan!
ClickyAnd yeah I'm still trying to find the last couple of episodes of Drive too >.<;; honestly, I can't understand why it was axed... I mean Firefly was something totally new... like a new genre but Drive? There's been loads sucessful films and tv programs that ran on similar premises...
Honestly, how the heck do F*x keep making money?

Does anyone else find it amusing that Nathan's playing a gynecologist? Cracks me up!

I really liked him on "Miss Match" (thank you, ebay, for finding the unaired episodes!) but he scared the bejezus out of me as Caleb in "Buffy"--when I finally watched the DVDs of "Firefly" it took a while for me to stop being creeped out when Mal was onscreen!

Yeah, me too. Caleb was very scary and creepy.
